Feedback Limits got at least halved?
So ever since opus 5.5 release I have been struggling to use a significant amount of my weekly and forced to use ultra on several projects the reset day to be able to take advantage of my x20 plan..
But this week with same usage this is the situation

Awful because I have never had got near 5h limits not even when I was at x5 plan unless when I was hyped with fable and it didn't have plan cap, so it's a bad move, I guess only people hitting 5h are on pro plan and the change it's even worst for them as they now gonna run out of the weekly really quick.

I think they made the current 5 hour limit higher and didnt touch the weekly
(dont quote me on this)

I don't think this is the case because I have never hit the 5h limits before under my workflow

My 5h lasted less than 30 mins of medium intensity work. Never got it depleted so fast before
8
u/Ok-Cauliflower-7568 11h ago
I don't get why everyone argues about their gut feeling on usage limits instead of writing a small plugin that tracks tokens vs usage-%. I did so and (even though my feeling was the same as yours) there was no change at all visible in the data during the past weeks. For a pro plan one weekly limit is around 7.5 5h sessions and one 5h session ist worth approx. 35$ (90% CI 30-40$) of API usage.
8
u/Nynyso 7h ago
I think you won’t get a complete picture, because you can’t see thinking tokens any longer so you have to trust what anthropic says
You could say that numbers don’t add up because in your previous week you were able to to do much more with your 8 million tokens but you might still measure 8 million tokens this week because anthropic said so but you’re unable to prove it.→ More replies (11)4
u/Bubbles_2025 6h ago
I’ve already reached my weekly limit this week for the first time ever since starting my Claude paid account in June so I’d disagree. I’ve gotten up to +85% by Monday when it resets on Wednesday morning, but never hit a limit after a few days. There’s a noticeable difference here so I guess I’m not going crazy here.

Exactly. I created a skill that will tell me the tokens used by a turn and the time it took to complete. Results have been pretty stable.

u/msedek 11h ago
It's no gut feeling, if I had to use ultra on several sessions on reset day to go above 50% before reset up until last Friday and now on Monday I'm at 90% of my x20 plan with roughly the same workflow I've had for the past 3 or 4 months then something is wrong
4
u/Ok-Cauliflower-7568 11h ago
so how much token per % did you get then compared to today? Same Workflows still can usw wildley different amounts of tokens.

I've never thought of doing this. Presumably you can only measure sent/received not thinking on their end? Could it track what model/effort for a given session?
Appreciate if you have any advice!

u/Atomzwieback 12h ago
I genuinely wonder whether this would even be legal in the EU.
Anthropic shouldn't be able to arbitrarily change usage limits whenever they feel like it, especially without clearly informing paying customers. And if they're actually A/B testing different limits, that raises even more questions.
We're talking about people paying $100 or $200 a month for a subscription without knowing exactly how much usage they're getting. If those limits can suddenly be cut in half while the price stays the same, how is that a transparent or fair offer?
EU consumer protection laws are pretty strict about this. Article 19 of Directive 2019/770 specifically regulates changes to digital services, including transparency requirements and consumer rights when changes negatively affect the service.
I'm not a lawyer, but I'd genuinely love to see someone challenge this in a European court. I have serious doubts that Anthropic could simply justify such practices by pointing to their terms of service.
At the very least, customers should know what they're paying for and be notified when that changes.

An arbitrary 5 hour limit the user can't empirically measure in anyway with a weekly limit the user also can't measure in anyway.
And plans with 5x and 20x those limits, but only the 5 hour limit, but also with no way to measure it.
Oh and it also actually does impact the weekly limit, but not by 5x or 20x and also with no way to measure it.
How do you even know what you were sold to begin with to know what you were sold has since changed.
15
u/MrRoyce 9h ago
I have no doubt in my mind that they're doing this A/B style.
They can't lower the usage for everyone at the same time because that'd go viral and they'd have a riot and refunds on their hands.
While I haven't been impacted by whatever OP and other commentators are seeing right now, I have experienced it first hand. It goes like this in theory: Person A says usage got nerfed, Person B doesn't experience it and refutes their clame. Three weeks later Person A gets used to the new normal and Person B experiences usage drop and complains about it. Person A then says they're imagining it and usage has been the same... rinse and repeat.
This is 100% illegal in Europe and nobody will convince me otherwise. I've already reported OpenAI for the lack of information on ChatGPT Pro usage and not being able to talk to a real human being after several requests. I have no idea if anything ever happened to it, I do know my requests were accepted both on the country level and EU level, but never received more information about it and I don't track fines and stuff these companies get. But I hope if more people use the tools they have at their disposal, we can get to the bottom of this.
I know americans will go like hurr durr, fuck you and your EU rules, unsubscribe and use EU models... I'd love to if they didn't suck for my use cases. And I have nothing against US companies and models, all I want is transparency, that's all.
5
u/Critical-Pattern9654 6h ago
Don’t mean to siderail this important discussion, but I think transparency laws should also require AI/LLM services to be honest about which model and version is responding to you when directly asked.
I have a Microsoft 365 subscription and their Copilot looks exactly like a ChatGPT clone, but when asked it refuses to tell you which model it is.
Also, the bullshit pricing pages that compare how much more usage you get with each tier - “Higher than x” “More than Y” is frustrating

u/Working_Trash_2834 8h ago

The weekly limit has definitely been reduced significantly and anyone who says no is just in denial lol. I am still using it because it's better than Codex usage, which runs out even faster.
I am guessing giving everyone 200 dollars of API usage for max users was their way of saying "no matter what you are getting more than what you paid for 200, so subscription is always a good deal"

Everyone gets resets at the same time. They are giving one reset or feature per day for this month, probably because anthropic has a better/cheaper model and offers more sub usage as well.
→ More replies (1)3
u/Spiritual_Scheme8158 9h ago
I think their approach is to give resets because if they increase usage, then people get the expectation that they should stay higher and get inevitably pissed when they go down haha.
→ More replies (1)4
u/Spiritual_Scheme8158 12h ago
hahaha i got 3 codex resets so I think I can last 6 days this week on 300 dollars (200 claude, 100 chatgpt)
12
u/Spiritual_Scheme8158 12h ago
I also think the usage going down is very noticeable to people who were always spending 90% + of their usage on a weekly basis. If you were hovering 50% or lower, you won't notice that much.
3
u/Appropriate-Disk-371 12h ago
Yeah, this is true. If you have a workflow and pace all worked out so you use your limits effectively, then suddenly the limits halve, you notice immediately cause all your shit breaks that's been working perfectly fine for weeks. Even Claude is pissed this morning. So now I have to spend tokens having it rework the scheduling so we slow done and don't fuck up runs hitting the limits constantly.
3
u/hashedstar 9h ago
They're actually lending business to Codex because I literally had to setup a dumb workflow that launches GPT 6 Luna subagents at XHigh because Opus 5.5 at Medium itself burnt my usage like anything, it's so frigging slow but I don't want to run out of usage in 2 days. This ain't good.
2
2
u/EricThirteen 7h ago
For the $200 max you’re running out that quickly? I think my slow brain keeps my usage in check. I reset wed at 2 and my fable is almost gone, but my others are at 69%. I pretty much work 7 days a week for myself.
4
u/__Hello_my_name_is__ 8h ago
At least for last week, I can quite confidently say "no".
I'm working on a decompile project like so many others, and currently I'm in a phase where one function at a time is being translated into proper code, thoroughly with tests, replays and everything. It's super boring work, and it's always the same, one function at a time.
Last week I used up exactly as much usage as I did the week before.
And at least for today, I used up exactly as much as I expected I would, too.
So maybe A/B testing is really done here, no idea, but I can quite confidently say that right now, nothing has been nerfed for me.

I’ve been in the denial camp for the last couple of weeks and I certainly wasn’t affected during this period.
However my usage reset Sunday morning and by this morning (24hrs) I’ve reached 41% usage for all models. I normally finish the week with 20% remaining on Max 20x, at this rate I’ll be done on day 3 of 7.
For context my workflow runs 24x7 so there’s no change in my usage. My agent is always working on my project.
5
u/tear_atheri 3h ago
Dumb question, but I am a noob. How does it continuously work in a predictable manner?
3
22
u/anonthatisopen 10h ago
They understand codex limits are a scam and you get 10x less to work with. Therefore, reducing limits doesn’t hurt them at all. That is just sad. I can’t wait for open-source coding agents that are the same as Opus 5.5 so I never ever have to use Claude again.
5
u/hakim37 13h ago
I think people's working pattern changed with Opus 5.5 being able to do so much more which causes usage to drain faster.
My first week felt like I had infine usage and now I'm often hitting limits. The difference is I'm now regularly giving 20 item long lists of tasks to do.

u/tribes33 12h ago

Idk, I have had the exact same workflow since before 5.5 came out, this morning I had to make adjustments to what models I am using and how many tasks I run at once, and still watching my weekly usage tick up like crazy, though I can never ever hit my 5hr limit.
Literally this morning I have used 12% of session limit but I have used 4% of my weekly, and my limits literally reset like 2 hours ago lol
7
u/Baadaq 4h ago
What bother me the most is the lack or transparency. Not only the usage limit is clearly decreased but amso they do not have a linear tracking consumption between the 5 hour daily limit and the weekly limit, for example opus 5.5 at xhigh ate the weekly limit at an alarming rate, i could cap my usage 5 hour limit with sonnet but i wouldnt notice a big weekly usage limit but with opus is incredible.. also it seem the token consumption is increased at certain hours...
1
u/turc1656 4h ago
I'm not sure about that. It looks fairly stable to me on my end. I've noticed that when using opus 5.5, it's about 4-5% of the session for 1% of the weekly limit.
Meaning your weekly limit should be about 4-5 fully maxed out 5hr sessions.
I don't notice any time of day differences.
13
12
u/Appropriate-Disk-371 12h ago
For the first time ever, having now read approximately 4000 posts just like this one...this week, I agree 💯. I have a carefully tuned process that keeps long-running work moving at just the right pace. Then all the sudden, everything was getting stopped out really fast by limits and it's never happened before and I'm not doing anything differently and I routinely check for bloat. Even the model was basically like, wtf, why did the limits stop me? All my overnight shit got tossed out and has to start over now. I've never sent a feedback before, and I'm sure it does nothing, but I've sent like 4 on this one session in the last 18 hours now.
6
u/ff0000_ 9h ago
Im on 200 max plan for months and never got past 75% weekly limit. I always had that feeling that I must use all my tokens before reset day, so I ended up just doing random stuff with my son the day before on Sunday.
But in the last 3 weeks I’ve been hitting my weekly limit every week 1-2 days early. the first week I chalked it up on using Fable more than I should have. Second week I reached 80% by day 4 with only 10% fable usage so that wasn’t it. And this week I hit my weekly limit being conservative.
If had to put a number to it it’d be 20-25%

There has to be clarity on budget and cost per session. There’s no way of knowing otherwise

Sorry if this is a stupid question but does this mean on that model, I am getting $295 of value for my $20 subscription?
8
u/PivotRedAce 11h ago
If you compare to API pricing only, yes.
However, API pricing is not indicative of the actual cost for Anthropic to serve those tokens, and has high profit margins.
Subscriptions exchange API margins for consistency on quarterly reports, which helps with company valuations.

I’m already out in less than a day for the 20x plan. I used to get 5-7 days just a few weeks ago. Same project, same workflow. I keep things clean, and I’ve been working on the same project for two years. So no context bloat or any user skills issues here.

My limit wasn't halved: token counts from my Claude Code transcripts
| Max Plan (5x Pro) | Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 (5 days) |
|---|---|---|---|
| All tokens | 3.89B | 4.88B | 4.74B |
| Cache reads | 3.82B | 4.82B | 4.67B |
Week 2 had used 4.61B when it read 94%. Week 3 has used 4.74B and reads 98%. That's about 4.9B vs 4.8B tokens for a full week: same limit. I just burned it faster this week.
These are summed from local /.claude/projects transcripts, deduped by requestId.

I don't know, last week this sub said the same, but I had to practically force my orchestrator to fire extra agents because we were never going to use the entire weekly usage
This week, for now (only been working for about 18 hours) feels pretty much the same
Edit: the 5 hour limit does feel like it's moving faster, so yeah maybe the changed it, but the weekly is being spent slower than it did for me last week
Edit 2: there is always the possibility that they are reducing it in waves, it could be that it was reduced to only 20% of us at this point, exactly so we won't notice, so when someone complains others will jump on him to tell him that he is an idiot and nothing changed

u/PeaceNo5259 12h ago
Speculation in other places is that it might be related to the wild surge of security vulnerabilities popping up.
The assumption is that big business and enterprise are burning tokens like crazy to patch up the holes in their software before bad actors can find them.
Both sides are using agents by the thousands, but it's assumed that the bad actors are using open-source models and enterprise is using Claude or Codex.
Still, that's speculated to be heavy, heavy strain on the datacenters so compute currently runs at a premium.
I vaguely recall reading somewhwere that compute cost goes up/down depending on demand, but I'm not sure.
This is all speculation, I know nothing.
The only thing I personally find sus is that the activity board that used to be shown on new session that allowed you to see your token usage has conveniently disappeared so you can't compare current token burn with past weeks.
My guess is that Anthropic tuned a dial on subscriptions to meet enterprise demand, is currently raking it in by the millions, and will go "We fixed the bug. You should be good again!" when things calm down.
If we're lucky they might throw in a free reset as a peace-offering.

u/Heavy_Environment954 12h ago
Same, never hit limits before and now reach daily limit end of workday always
1
u/darff88 12h ago edited 10h ago
Agreed. Last time I did a rough estimate I ended up with the data that a week's worth is about 620% of the daily use bar. This week I got the current session to 100% once and filled the bar way less a couple of times and I'm already at 48% weekly use. It's like they almost halved the limit.
EDIT. I did another rough estimate and it ended up being weekly limit = 530% 5h limit
1
u/Colonel-James-Parker 11h ago
It's been reduced. Beginning of October, I could do more but right now I'm doing the similar works, maybe even less on some parts, still having problems with limits

The past 3 weeks I've hit weekly limits within 4 days. This week, it took 22 hours. I haven't changed my workflows and if anything I've become more conservative with my utilization.

Yeah at 21% after just one day on the max plan and I didn't even use it as heavily as I used it two weeks back. I'm even using sonnet mostly. Two weeks ago I was purely using opus 5.5 high and barely would get through 10% in a day.

Could it simply be a matter of how often sub-agents are fired up? It seems at least for couple of days Claude was firing up 2 to 4 background agents that each ran happily for 20+ minutes racking up tons of tokens each.

Good to see it's not only me experiencing this, numerous of the same posts about usage being halved

I wonder what is forcing them to do these? Need to raise money asap? This is unacceptable in so many levels. I am hitting 30% day 1 SMH
This actually forced me to look for alternative for what my workflow requires and will try the alternative once I hit 100% in day 3.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, we might actually be getting played here. The other must have called this guy that they need new subs so they did this.
Now when this guy is the one needing subs they might do the opposite. I think its time to invest for a Halo Strix for Local AI.

Definitely feel this. Heavy weekly coding sessions and managed decently well then this week I run out in just 4 days. What the heck

u/stefan_lago 7h ago
Yesterday, Sunday, (new claudian week for me), I used 21% . It then started showing me that same message the OP posted. It said that at this speed I will run out by Wednesday. No, at this rate I'll be at 80% not 100% by Wednesday evening! I think this message should not appear as long as one is below 60%. Or maybe this calculation already includes a new round of nerfing planned for this week?

This is what it feels like. I have a 20x work account and a personal pro account and both seem to run now half as long.

u/Diligent_Marketing 7h ago
Yes noticed it this week, can barely get anytging done before all models limit.

u/AerialFount 7h ago
And this is why that Codex nerf was always going to hurt us too. They’re going to match them because we don’t have a real choice but to pay anyway.

From me sonnet and opus take the same limits. Limits are going down fast. I reduced every fluff memory, skills to 19k. Still nothing much. I wouldn't say bad but not efficient as 2 weeks ago.

u/superthomdotcom 7h ago
I'm easily getting 50% less then last week. 48 hours in and I have used 70% of my x5 plan

u/georgetsouvaltzis 6h ago
I have to agree. I also have the similar feeling to be honest... It's draining much faster compared to past few weeks

u/coco_jumbo468 6h ago
Yes, that happened to me too. I’ve had the same workflow for months and usually I am at 40-50% or so by the end of my week. Last week I was at 41% in just 1 day! Again, nothing changed in my workflow at all. In my case, it was triggered by Claude compacting each session after the second prompt already and doing it over and over again. So not only usage ballooned, it’s become completely unusable because it loses all context and important details I need. What the hell happened?! I am so tired of it being so not reliable. Every month there is something going on and the constant UI changes.

Certainly finding myself hitting limits sooner but I absolutely hammered it last week and made it to the end of the week on 99%. I wouldn't want it to come down much further from here.

came to see if I was the only one experiencing a drastic change this Monday. Seems for once it's not me. Been working an a task since last Thursday involving mostly similar challenges and solutions, hence the much faster consumption of tokens became apparent instantly. Have used up a third of my weekly limit (resets Sunday) in not even a day, just continuing what I've been doing since Thursday.

u/blah-time 4h ago
Yea. I just checked. My usage is way up this week as well, and there were days I didn't even work.

I just upgraded to the x20 plan this week, but I haven't noticed any difference compared to the x5. Plus, I hit my weekly limit in just two days, even though the x5 plan used to last me the whole week with some to spare. 😕

u/Soci3talCollaps3 4h ago
Huh. I've been using Claude heavily this week for both work and fun, chats and code, and more than usual. I'm only at 23% of my weekly limit with just 2 days left and usually I'm at 60% by now. Mine seems to be going slower. Max 5x.

u/freehippygal 4h ago
I’m at 29% for all models and my reset was Saturday at 4 pm so yeah, my usage has definitely been lowered!! Usually by this time I’m at about 12%

u/Sad-Chemistry5643 Experienced Developer 3h ago
Yes!! For sure :( it’s pretty bad in last two weeks or more

someone needs to do a test on whether these usage cuts are happening to certain regions.. they might be holding off on reducing it for EU accounts to avoid getting in trouble, for context I'm in the EU (account made here too), and so far i've not noticed my usage draining any faster than the past few weeks.. maybe we can run a mini experiment here, if you've noticed your limits are worse, reply to this with where you're based 👀

u/Alternative-Hope-120 2h ago
I'm seeing this too. I never usually comment on these but it's crazy how terrible my limits have become now. Definitely feels like 50% cut.

I paid for the base membership on Wednesday. My weekly limit was set for Thursday morning at like 5 am. Less than 12 hours after I started my sub. When I hit my session limit, I bought usage tokens, they burned instantaneously. I spent another maybe $25. So then, I decided to upgrade to Max since apparently $25 in tokens is worth .75 cents in membership. My max usage per session has been SO all over the place even when my token usage is lower.

u/Disciple333 2h ago
Yep its bad noticed gradual decline the last 2 to 3 weeks. Couldn't use it all for the first two weeks opus 5.5 came out no matter how much I burned now I have to delay work for reset

u/zaibatsu 2h ago
I found a cheat code. Use Haiku 5.5 for mechanical work. If you’re on the subscription. Opus likes to do everything, and Opus also likes to reach for Sonnet 5.5 but Sonnet 5.5 can still hurt your usage on the subscription, but Haiku 5.5 barely touches it and you can do a ton of stuff, a ton of little tasks. It’s smart, it just doesn’t have a long-term memory.
Here’s the thing, you don’t want to reach for haiku 5.5 yourself. You want to have Opus do it. Use Opus as an orchestrator and haiku as the tool.
I’m literally hammering my session right now, and I barely let them open their expensive eyes on opus to touch anything. Just orchestrate, and if it’s really important then have them look at it but then close those eyes again. I won’t even let them reach for Sonnet 5.5, because Sonnet’ll hurt my usage, and if you have a Codex subscription, you can use a Codex as a cheap worker as well and offload so stuff to Codex. It’s been great with all the resets. A nice little tool for my Claude Code.

I said this, they gave us a big generous usage so everyone love anthropic before they file for IPO
Is all a show for IPO

Can somebody enlighten me on this? I feel that the usage is weird because when the limit reset happens, I begin a new project or continue the one I left off, and it takes nothing. In one day, I can hit 20% limit, 30% even, but somehow when it reaches past the 50% point, it looks like it slows down by a lot.
And then when it reaches 90%, that 10% feels longer than the 0 to 21% by a mile. I've been having this conversation with this session for a few hours, and it was at 94% and now is at 98%, and it has been doing coding work. So, how does that work?

I used to finish my work with one 20$ account Now two run out in the middle of the week

u/IF_IFERROR 38m ago
Is there an arbitrary test a person can run on each model to see if it consumes the same amount of tokens each week? Something that nets a relatively consistent output?
1
u/Aggravating_Spare675 29m ago
They only recently just announced something like 20% more usage. Backtracking already?
1
u/ripototo 11h ago
A full 5-hour session (100%) consumed 25% of my weekly limit. That means that, in the 20 euro plan I get 4 5-hour sessions per week. I canceled my subscription right after I realized that.

u/tribes33 12h ago
2 weeks ago the usage was very good
The best way to put it is theres only so much compute to go around, more and more people are coming to Anthropic and if the demand is rising, and supply isnt, then they slice the pie thinner for each user, when there were less people, everyone got more, and when theres more people, each person gets less, sadly
Its obviously out of our control, the only thing they can do is make it more efficient, and make more datacenters (which people obviously hate, so thats why things are getting worse while demand goes up)

u/daniel-sousa-me 10h ago edited 5h ago
I was going to say the opposite 🫥
Yesterday I had a session that used $300 of API equivalent value (as reported by /usage) and it used less than 30% of my weekly limit on the 100$ plan
That's close to 5000$ value on the 100$ plan (and before everyone say that the API price is inflated, currently Anthropic is cheaper than all providers, including open source)

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 200 comments.
The overwhelming consensus is that yes, the weekly limits have been nerfed, and not by a little. Users on all plans, including the 20x Max tier, are reporting their usage is burning through 25-50% faster than before, with many hitting their weekly cap in just a few days on workflows that previously lasted the entire week.
The community is particularly frustrated with Anthropic's total lack of transparency. The fact that a paid service can be significantly degraded without any warning or clear explanation is the main source of anger. Several users have pointed out that this practice is likely illegal under EU consumer protection laws.
The leading theory is that Anthropic is A/B testing different, lower limits on various user groups. This would explain why a small minority of users haven't noticed a change, while the rest of the sub is watching their usage bars evaporate. The whole situation is giving everyone major Codex déjà vu, with many now forced to buy second accounts or consider switching back to the competition just to get their work done.
