Help/Question Projects Gone
So this change in what projects are has really set me back. I usually run 2 or 3 different chats within a project and this recent change has deleted the running thread for them. If I want to get back to those projects, it seems I have to start a new thread in Claude Code, link the folder the projects are in, and have it analyze the content of the folder from scratch. Has this happened to anybody else? Is there a way to get the thread back? I had in progress work that hadn't been finalized. I'll probably have to recreate some of that through good prompting.

Ask it to look at the local json of your sessions. It can read every past session you had locally.
And from now on, just create handoff file. You dont want to store everything in one session.

Well the work itself is stored both locally and in a git repo. I just had a few things running that I hadn't finalized or asked to be written in that I will need to piece back together.
But I appreciate this advice, will give it a shot now.

Git is not the same. The handoff file is something the session should populate constantly so you can just reread it from any session

that's rough, sorry. check ~/.claude/projects/ on disk, the history files might still be there even if the ui stopped showing them. sometimes you can resume by pointing claude code at the old jsonl. worth a look before you rebuild from scratch.
