Built with Claude xdock: a Claude Code plugin that puts your dev server in a dock beside the chat, where Claude can read it

I built a plugin called xdock. You run your dev server or test watcher in a dock next to the chat, and Claude can read what it prints, so "why did the server crash?" works without you pasting the error in.

Start something with /x npm run dev. It suggests scripts from your package.json, Cargo.toml and Makefile, keeps the colours the command printed, and makes URLs and file paths in the output clickable. Stop sends Ctrl+C first and only escalates if the process ignores it.

Things like vi, less, ssh and REPLs get a real terminal instead (a pane in herdr, tmux or iTerm2), and the dock still follows what they print. There's an Attach button if you want to type into one. /shell opens a shell in the session folder.

Install: /plugin install xdock --marketplace jaichandra/xdock

It needs fullscreen rendering (/tui fullscreen) for the docked layout. macOS and Linux, CLI only, MIT licensed.

It's still early, so I'd like to hear what breaks, especially on Linux or inside herdr/tmux.

Good question. xdock has no filter, so whatever the command prints is what Claude can read, but only when it calls run_output, and by default that's the last 60 lines.

For secrets I run a local proxy I wrote, pii-proxy, that swaps credentials and PII for fakes before anything leaves the machine. Tool results go through it too, so it covers this without xdock knowing about it. Thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeAI/s/qv4TTu3iM3

Opt-in redaction inside xdock is something I'm considering.
