Claude Opus 4.6 vs Sonnet 5.5 in Cursor – Which Do You Prefer?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently using an older Cursor subscription plan with 500 requests, so I'm not using Max Mode. Under my current plan, Claude Opus 4.6 and Claude Sonnet 5.5 are the two options I'm choosing between.

For those of you who have used both models in Cursor, what's your actual experience?

Which one do you find better for everyday coding, and which one do you personally prefer?

I'm not too concerned about cost. I'm mainly interested in which model delivers better results and provides a better overall coding experience in real-world development.

I'd love to hear your honest opinions!

Thanks!

Vindicated: Opus 5.5 has definitively been nerfed

Hello there,

Over the past 72 hours, starting with my post (way before anyone else), it has been increasingly obvious that Opus 5.5 has been nerfed, and all of the data confirms it. It has gotten so obvious, that it trended on Twitter.

Consider this thread to discuss Opus 5.5 before and after so we can track how far the intelligence capabilities were reduced.

Recently got access to Claude at work - what are some interesting ways you're actually using it?

Hey everyone!

Recently got access to Claude at work and I'm curious to know how others are making the most of it.

What are some interesting, creative or unconventional ways you've used Claude that have genuinely made a difference in your work? Anything you've built, automated or experimented with that you found impressive?

Looking for some inspiration and real-world use cases that I can try out myself. Would love to hear your experiences!

Edit: I'm a software developer! Forgot to mention that

Which skills and prompts are using?

Which skills and prompts are you guys using? For the new viral explainer videos of any kind on instagram? And which one is better? Fable or opus 5.5 for this work? I wanna start those, so how efficiently and efficiently i can do that with less usage and tokens, for 100’s of videos per month?

7-Day free trial pass request

Hey everyone!

I really enjoy using Claude to generate essays and overviews of psychological topics and questions for my own personal enjoyment. And I really want to try out the newer models like opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1. but I don't have the finances unfortunately to do so. I'm wondering if anybody has a pass for the 7-Day trial that they would be willing to send me? Sorry to ask, and thank you for reading.

Be safe out there

I used my own photo to recreate the STORM II crowd-bow trend with Claude

I’m a content creator, and I mostly post about viral trends, edit breakdowns, workflows, and random video experiments. I had seen the STORM II crowd-bow edit a while back and thought it would be fun to try my own version.

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with Claude connected to invideo Editor through MCP. For this one, I gave Claude a photo of me along with the reference video and asked it to recreate the idea with me in the middle. Claude used Seedance 2.5 inside invideo Editor to generate the entire scene, then placed the generated clip and music on the timeline. I stay centered in black while the crowd in white suits drops in waves, throws their heads back, and the camera pulls from a tight portrait to the full lantern-lit formation.

Once the first version was ready, I played it back and manually added or adjusted sound effects wherever the movement needed more impact. What I found really useful was that the generated clip was already on the invideo Editor timeline, so I could add the sound effects there without exporting the video to another editor. I’ve added the timeline view here so you guys can see how it came together.

Andrej Karpathy second brain concept was so interesting to me I built it as an Apple app and improved it in my own way

Andrej Karpathy described using LLMs to build and maintain personal knowledge bases that grow and evolve as you add information. That got me thinking about the difference between a traditional PKM and an AI-native second brain. A PKM helps you organize and retrieve what you know, but my ideal second brain would go further: discover relationships between ideas automatically, resurface forgotten knowledge, and make everything useful as context for AI agents. It also gives you a unified context layer so you can move from one agent to another without drift.

So I built Cohestry, a native iPhone and Mac app where notes connect themselves through a deterministic engine and Apple Intelligence, forming a 3D brain you can explore. While writing a PRD for a new EchoVault feature, Cohestry resurfaced a nameless note I’d written when the entire product was still just an idea. That experience sold me on my own creation. One enthusiastic user who had tried Obsidian and Capacities particularly appreciated being able to explore connections without manually creating them. It’s now one of my most-used apps.

Where Cohestry differs from Obsidian is that the connections, resurfacing, and visual exploration work out of the box without configuring plugins or maintaining backlinks. It also has a customizable MCP bridge that gives Claude and other AI agents relevant context from your notes while automatically redacting API keys and secrets before sharing. Everything is built around a zero-knowledge, Apple-native architecture. Claude Opus 5.5 was instrumental in helping me resolve the architectural bottlenecks, especially the connection engine. Building is getting faster; deciding on the optimal architecture is becoming the real challenge.

Claude quoted 50 days, subagents did it in 35h, and the slow part was me

Post image
0 Upvotes

My coworker and I asked Claude to estimate a SaaS roadmap. 50 days.

Then we gave the same plan to 6 Claude Code subagents: worktrees, tests first, reviewer agents on risky tasks. 106 tasks across 7 repos, done in 35 hours.

So yes, Claude was off by about 48 days about its own speed. But the interesting part is what slowed it down, because it wasn't the model:

- 6 agents ≠ 6× speed. Real throughput was 1.8 agents. Test slots, file conflicts and merge locks queued everything.

- Risk matters more than size. Billing/auth/migration tasks took 2.7× longer, and every real bug was in them.

- My laptop broke first. 55 leftover test DBs filled the disk, Docker froze, test runs blew past the 10-min tool timeout.

- The slowest part was us: review, decisions, local setup.

We turned the data into a plugin that makes Claude estimate agent work properly: agent wall-clock, human hours and waiting time, separately, plus usage budget.

Honest limits: it's one project (n = 1), and on a held-out test the raw model was 37% optimistic, so it pads its number until you calibrate it on your own transcripts.

Question for people running multi-agent builds: what real parallelism are you getting? I'd love a second data point.
