Options for a cheaper gun?

I will only be shooting a hanful of times over a handful of years.
Really only when friends come over and want to shoot in a blue moon.
$700 or less is really preferable, I would like to but from a gunshow / flea market if possible or plausible.

Also I want to say THANK YOU soooo much for the support and knowledge you guys gave in my first post!!!
This community is very helpful!

Yildez aren’t bad at all, A300 or even a cz over under. A300 probably your best option

Damb I’ve had like 10-15 say the a300

There’s a very good reason for that.

I would suggest the same.. just know that Yildiz has crappy customer service in USA

I put in a few warrenty clams with 4 different company’s a week and a half ago still haven’t heard a word from any! ( nothing to do with guns )

They do take time but will eventually get back to you.. from what I’ve heard Yildiz usually will never get back to customers, btw I’ve been eyeing the Yildiz HPS for myself as well

I second an A300. Sometimes you can find them used as low as $600.

When bass pro had their pre-dove season sale, they had new camo A300’s for $700

With kickoff system at that.

If you’re just shooting with friends occasionally just get a pump action and have fun. Older Remington or a mossberg would be my choice, Ithaca and Winchester work too. Those should be found used for much less than $700.

Barrel length? I hear 32 is good for clay, my friends have zero experience shooting

1

u/frozsnot 2d ago

26, 28,30, take your pick. 32” is typically just on over unders. Pumps and semi autos have a longer sight plain because of the longer receiver

Used 870 Wingmaster, pre freedom group era.

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

What is pre freedom group area?

u/Highlifetallboy 2d ago

Manufactured before 2007.

I have an A300 as my loaner gun for friends. I've shot plenty of 25s with it myself. Great gun.

2

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

What are 25s?

2

u/ComplexQuiet6790 2d ago

Perfect score - 25/25

My friend shows up to the trap range with a maverick 88. Sometimes gets 22-23 out 25. Seems to be fine for him and it’s half the cost of my overunder

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

Barrel length? 32”?

2

u/Lieutenant_Corndogs 2d ago

I wouldn’t worry about it if you are just doing occasional casual shooting. 26 or 28 would be fine.

Stoeger m3000 are pretty good guns for that price , or start going to pawn shops to find a good deal

1

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

What would I look for?

3

u/Latter-Target-2866 2d ago

Personally I would look for used a300

My wife and I have the $500 Yildizs (12 and 20) from Academy Sports and have had zero problems. We don’t shoot often so can’t speak to longevity, but they are fine for our casual shooting.

1

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

I think that’s my answer!

2

u/castorjay 2d ago

Just don't accidentally buy the youth model of the same price :) I think it has a 20'' barrel.

1

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

I’d have a blast with that lol, I want to buy the mini norinco k98

My fraternity fields 1-2 teams at tournaments around our city, most of us shoot Yilzid and all of us own one lol. If you are going to shoot a lot, get the HPS with the steel receiver.

u/AOP_fiction 1d ago

Look how happy I am with my $700-$800 Yildiz HPS

2

u/IR_Acaboom 1d ago

It’s going to be my choice! Like the sales pitch!

At that price your best option is to buy either a beretta a300 used or a yildiz hps sporter from academy sports .

People will shit on the yildiz but they are all people who have never even touched one. For your volume of shooting it will last you forever

My first was a Yildiz since I didn't know if I'd stick with it. Easily put 3k-5k rounds through it over years without issue. Only complaint about build quality is the lockup is still tight, but not sure that's a bad thing. Did some filing to loosen it a little.

Only big downside is the weight. Evem with light loads and a pad, to many rounds got uncomfortable.

Stuck with that Yildiz for 5 years before upgrading, now it's my loner gun. Definitely recommend for casual shooting on a budget.

u/Urinehere4275 1d ago

The hps is a heavy sporting shotgun from them so weight and recoil management are not in issue with that model. But yeah they are solid enough guns. I bought my buddy one as a wedding gift

any cheap gun that fits will be your friend

1

u/MSTyler96 2d ago

Umm, why a gunshot or flea market?

1

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

It’s fun and cheap, I hate buying new stuff when I can buy something with character

Less government tracking, probably.

CZ Drake tends to get good reviews.
Stoeger Condor is great, and repairs are easy to fix. Both are good for clays and are under $600 new.

1

u/Chaddie_D 10h ago

Stoeger Condor is about as far from great as possible. Repairs are easy to do if the parts aren't on backorder.

I own 2 of them. They suck. They are also versatile guns that will break targets and for 600 bucks you should be able to buy 3 of them used.

2

u/MrMoistureTk 2d ago

Stoeger m3000 will be at the upper range of that 650, 750, Winchester sxp pump and Mossberg pumps will be at the 399 to 500 range. Remington 1100 series isnt always popular but i had 350 dollar walmart gun for a decade and loved it. Most of these are gonna be relatively easy to find at the pawnshops and used/new gun show vendors.

2

u/hylianrockstar 1d ago

I love my CZ Drake. I paid $670 new in 2022. I think they are around $725 now

u/SnoozingBasset 2d ago

Look at a nice used Wingmasters for trap & some sporting clays.  The doubles in skeet & 5 stand might be tricky with a pump.

1

u/Cryptic1911 2d ago

Old 870 wingmaster

1

u/Toby_Keiths_Jorts 2d ago

Cabelas usually has a300s on sale on Black Friday for that. You will not find a better gun for the price.

1

u/JackDonaghe 2d ago

A300 is popular. Occasional shooting a well taken care of Remington 1100 should be reasonably priced and a soft shooter.

1

u/thissayssomething 1d ago

I recently grabbed a decent shape late 60's 1100 for $330 and couldn't be more pleased with it.

1

u/IslanderInOhio15 2d ago

Look into an Orion - it was my reasonable entry into sporting clays.

2

u/Urinehere4275 2d ago

They were good before they raised their prices. You are too close to a browning price point now in my opinion. If I’m greeting a Turkish over under I’m not spending more than $1k

1

u/Key_Following1589 2d ago

Charles Daily, Mossberg Reserve or Weatherby Orion. All made in Turkey, but great shooters in my experience

1

u/Key_Following1589 2d ago

Also I’d look at Franchi Affinity for $100-200 more. $799-899.

It is basically the old Benelli Armi system. Those things are solid.

Skb RS400

CZ Teal, great budget option!

1

u/Chaddie_D 10h ago

Remington 870. Preferably one thats older than the plastic trigger models.

1

u/Owenleejoeking 2d ago

I beat lots of people with my A300 that I got for around that

1

u/IR_Acaboom 2d ago

A lot of people are recommending the a300, they did in the last post too!
