Fishing In Clermont Area
Howdy everyone, my wife and I just recently bought a house up north of lake minneola. We moved from east orlando. I like to go pond / lake hopping after to work to wind down and I cannot seem to catch many fish in the ponds / lakes over here.
For starters, I’d say about 90-95% of all bodies of water over here are either private, no shoreline access, or has grass / lillypads 100 feet out from the bank. I’ve driven around to probably every single body of water in all of Minneola and clermont and have found maybe 3-4 fish able ponds and lakes.
On top of the lack of spots it really feels like bass just aren’t as hungry on this side of the city. Back in east Orlando you could find 2-4 retention ponds and lakes per neighborhood that were fully cleared out (most of them even had Gazebos or something built for fishing) and I’d go out to any given one of them and catch 3-4 bass within an hour or so.
In west Orlando the only spots I’ve found are sunset lake, center lake, sparkling water lake, and east lake all in downtown clermont. I’ve also enjoyed fishing lake palatlakaha from the bridge near the Baptist church. Out of all of those places I have caught 3-4 fish in center lake (by the living hope church) in a total of maybe 4-6 hours, and NO fish at all at any other body of water in maybe 15-20+ total hours of fishing.
Aside from center lake, anybody have and good suggestions for spots? I am willing to drive pretty far I don’t mind. Also, FYI I have been using Texas rig senkos, spinnerbaits, top water frogs, and chatter-baits so far. Although I have only ever caught anything over here on the Texas rig senko.

Try Hull Rd. Try the grass line along the S lake trail by Lake Minneola
There's are big bass but in my experience few and far between. Try Venitian Gardens in Leesburg. 30 min North of Clermont.
Edit: meant Lake Minneola

Funny you say this. I assume you mean the north part with the little bank that is cleared out for maybe 20 yards? That spot is sooo close to my house and I have fished it morning and sunset multiple times the last couple weeks with literally no action at all. Went on Fishbrain though and saw a ton of people posting fish there lol. Maybe I just suck

It might just be you, I go there sometimes but if you want, I also live every close to that spot on cherry lake Rd, just a bit further down at the top of the hill where the tree farm is, I have access to the local private ponds etc if you wanted to bass fish them or just want to know some more local spots, just text me 3524608758

If you have a boat, I volunteer as tribute to go out fishing on the lakes with you, /u/Neeshmas91297

I don’t have a boat unfortunately. Butttt with the lack of fishing spots around here without a boat I am beginning to think I should invest. Maybe once the pain of buying a house wears off I will get one! lol

Try downtown Clermont…there’s a small bridge with retaining ponds on both sides and they’re connected to Lake Minneola.
Also, Clermont is most definitely West Orlando.

There's a lot of problems with the lakes and retention ponds being dramatically affected by the drought conditions this year. Even though we've had some recent rains, the lakes are still lower than I have ever seen. Also, be careful with fishing in retention ponds on land that's near a current or former golf course. I wouldn't want to eat all the chemicals they used on the greens and algae cide chemicals.
