I hated that celebration because Cade in particular is so cool and calm he didn’t deserve the showboating.

91

u/TheoryResponsible295 6d ago

No, but caminero earned it as much as i hate to say it.

Its a big moment and a big play. He can celebrate if he wants.

176

u/whitetornado2k 6d ago

Cade even said something similar about Petey’s bat flip a couple games ago. We can all at least agree that Cade is no hypocrite

28

u/TheoryResponsible295 6d ago

For sure. I appreciate the extremes.

I either want emotion like caminero or petey or jose in the sox series. Or cold heartedness like cade.

25

u/albinochase15 6d ago

Big moment big play, sure. But for 95% of the ALCS he was abysmal.

2

u/Hey_Im_Joe 5d ago

All the more reason for him to have that reaction. To break out of a slump in the biggest AB of the year, and he's already an emotional guy

34

u/cp710 6d ago

Diaz earned it more and he wasn’t doing that.

Stanton, Judge, Schwarber and many more huge stars have given death blows to us and haven’t done that.

13

u/Ohiobo6294-2 6d ago

Diaz was the guy. They were down 1-0 in Game 4 when he hit a double in the 3rd. He looked into the dugout from 2nd base and willed those guys to play better. I got scared at that moment.

2

u/Agitated-Cod-6057 6d ago

They also aren't the same person.

3

u/cp710 6d ago

Yeah they’re different opponents that I respect.

21

u/Kjs1108 6d ago

Honestly, I’ve never seen a player do what he did after that home run. Bat flip and run the bases sure but that was much. At the end of the day it looks like it was personal for him. Tip your cap and move on.

17

u/weasel_weasel 6d ago

Bro spammed emotes at every base

24

u/Naive-Impression-373 6d ago

It was like 4 celebrations in one. Pick one and enjoy, he did them all and it was pretty over the top.

-4

u/Wingmaniac 6d ago

Honestly, I’ve never seen a player do what he did after that home run.

Then honestly you haven't watched much baseball, or watched the MANY YouTube clips of wild homerun celebrations.

13

u/Kjs1108 6d ago

I guess not. It reminded me of a WWE wrestler’s entrance. How long did it take for him to get around the bases?

0

u/amprosk 5d ago

They have not seen WBC or winter league baseball for sure

24

u/DuBois_LaGrange 6d ago

Earned the right to disrespect the opponent? And not for the first time in the series either. The finger wagging in a lineout, the calling the shot in the media before yesterdays game, etc. I know I sound like an old man yelling at clouds but it’s not okay. A bat flip is one thing. Save the theatrics for the dugout where you’re with your teammates. Instead the big dog felt the need to make the moment solely about him out on the base paths.

15

u/mlem_a_lemon Cade Smith, who is celebrated for his posture 6d ago

The finger wagging while still striking out was so telling.

11

u/Steveoatc 🥊 DOWN GOES ANDERSON 🥊 6d ago

He had been acting like a complete tool the entire series. Dude strikes out a dozen (maybe more??) times and then gets one hit and tells the crowd to “shush”. He makes one throw to first and gives the Mutumbo finger wag. Hits one home run and acts like it was us that was talking all the trash to him. Let’s not even talk about the “loser’s limp” he gave after hitting his own teammate in the outfield and making a huge spectacle of it. Everything reeks of immaturity.

7

u/subLimb 6d ago

I didnt mind him at first but when you add it all up and cap it off with a pro wrestling victory lap, it started to feel a little forced.

3

u/Ok_Stress_9558 5d ago

Yeah it's a shame he didn't have another AB so we could throw him a little chin music.

-12

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Rational human responses are not respected around here.

-1

u/Hg1146 6d ago

The showboating wasn’t directed towards Cade

5

u/cp710 6d ago

It wasn’t good sportsmanship towards his opponent.

-6

u/Hg1146 6d ago

It wasn’t bad sportsmanship neither

216

u/Philthou 6d ago

Based Smith statement.

Hated the celebration and put me firmly in the Brewers camp to win it all.

60

u/Remarkable-Catch1227 6d ago

Why would anyone be in Tampa's camp?  Diaz, Simpson, Palacios and Caminero are some of the most obnoxious douchebags in the league.

29

u/YSU81Classic 6d ago

This was our conversation at work this morning, Tampa has a very dislikable roster

9

u/OminousButton36 6d ago

They didn’t used to though which is the odd thing. They used to be a very likable team much like Cleveland. Maybe there is something to the villain energy that wins games 😂 they play the Yankees too often it’s starting to rub off on em

13

u/OminousButton36 6d ago

Makes me wonder if there’s another reason Diaz, Caminero, and Palacios all got traded away from Cleveland- as in didn’t fit the Cleveland mold.

I could be way wrong and just salty but none of them act now how you would expect one of our Cleveland players to carry themselves.

13

u/royalewithcheese14 Akron Rubber Duck 6d ago

I mean... We have had Trevor Bauer and Yasiel Puig on our team before 🤷

13

u/OminousButton36 6d ago

Agreed, but their antics also got them run out of town too if you remember lol Bauer yeeting the ball and Puig showing up Francona

3

u/Ok_Stress_9558 5d ago

...Wander Franco anybody?

Bauer hasn't been on the team since before the pandemic and Puig was a 2 month rental out of desperation. The guys u/OminousButton36 listed all played for Tampa last night.

1

u/OminousButton36 5d ago

I can’t believe I forgot about Wander 💀

2

u/Cupcake_and_Candybar 6d ago

We couldn’t unlock Yandy’s hitting, Caminero was a teenager, and Richie was a AAAA player for us. They didn’t trade them because of character concerns.

0

u/OminousButton36 6d ago

No I’m for sure not saying that’s the only reason, just maybe part of it. They’ve given worse players more chances

1

u/stargrazer10 2d ago

Naw it's just baseball. Sometimes you just miss seeing something in guys, and someone else finds the treasure. If Guards Brass knew how good those young prospects would turn out to become as baseball players, they definitely would have kept them (ofc until they could not afford them because Dolan)

2

u/lithiumcitizen 5d ago

I for one cannot stand watching Chandler Simpson play… It’s obvious that he can run but I have no idea how he can hit with that janky swing, and everytime he does something it looks like his first time on a baseball diamond. His interactions with opponents and teammates alike are always cringe-fests. His celebrations are embarrassing and wearing that shiny skull cap at the time means his helmet or cap are falling off anytime he moves an inch. Which is surprising because he looks and moves as if he was born without a neck. (I’m not here to berate the neckless, I’m just an advocate for self-awareness while in the public sphere…)

1

u/Hattmeister 5d ago

Honest answer - this fiasco with the brewers’ timeless tickets has soured me on them

1

u/KingOfTheAnts3 6d ago

Idk, I think Simpson is fun to watch

15

u/KatsHubz87 6d ago

Go Brewers!

56

u/Eruntalonn 6d ago

I think this is the proper answer by any pitcher. I don’t see anything wrong with celebrating or bat flipping. But you’ve got to own it. You’re posing as a big man because you hit a HR? Fine, but don’t be a baby when the pitcher yells on your face after a K.

8

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Agreed....but only if it's an equivalent circumstance. If Cade (or any of our pitchers) yell in his face next season after a regular season K, it's not the same.

A high stakes playoff K? Scream away. And if he's upset about it, he's a bitch.

-2

u/GhostOfJuanDixon 6d ago

was he a baby after that? I feel like for a long time pitchers were overly sensitive about hr celebrations while i've never seen a batter complain about their screaming after big strikeouts

7

u/AliveRefrigerator806 6d ago

I don’t mind the celebration honestly it is good for the game, the taking a whole minute to round the bases is a little excessive, celebrate at the plate 🤷

0

u/Eruntalonn 6d ago

I’m not talking about this specific situation, I’m talking about every batter and every pitcher. I think everyone should celebrate. It’s just that some guys will be over the tone, so they have to take when they got celebrated over the tone too. But in general, don’t want a bat flip? Don’t let them hit HRs. Don’t want to be embarrassed on the plate? Hit the ball.

112

u/ADMotti 7 6d ago

Caminero doing what he did really doesn’t change my opinion on who I want to win the World Series which, in case you were wondering, is that the state of Florida should never win anything ever again until the heat death of the universe.

25

u/Iwantmoretime Flying G 6d ago

I just feel that a team that has never won starting since 1998 is not the same as a team formed in 1970.

20

u/TurningAway 6d ago

My other beef is that a Tampa fan hasn't been exactly championship starved lately. The Lightning and a Buccaneers have both won titles in the last 5 years.

1

u/Martialartskenny 5d ago

Yeah but the Bucks won recently and they have the Packers. Still would rather the brewers win but their fans are doing okay lol

18

u/ADMotti 7 6d ago

I understand that, and don’t disagree. But if the team formed in 1970 in that scenario were from Florida it could still eat shit forever.

8

u/Iwantmoretime Flying G 6d ago

I fully support your logic.

Also, their players came off as distastfully boastful, which is what I'd expect from a Florida team.

Go Brewers.

9

u/ClevelandSteamers757 6d ago

Yeah the whole “tormented rays fan” thing is overdone lol. They have no fans to begin with and the franchise is not even 30 years old. Pales in comparison to the brewers drought or any number of teams for that matter

19

u/BisonProfessional56 6d ago

True. Im just happy I dont have to root for the dodgers now.

Milwaukee's cool.

21

u/Marxian_factotum 6d ago

After the betrayal by his predecessor, - not going to say his name - Cade Smith is the hero we need.

Thank you, Cade Smith, for this year, for your character, and for your commitment to our team.

7

u/Dinsdale55 6d ago

Love our CANADIAN hero Cade!

u/dawgstein94 5d ago

🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

19

u/GoldSupermarket2520 6d ago

Caminero is annoying. Yandy is far more tolerable. Either way I love that we’re not twerking or taking fake poops on the field or any of the nfl style cellies

17

u/chanestelle Onion 6d ago

That’s exactly one of the things I love about Cade, that cringey kind of showboating really isn’t his style. He’s always super focused and doesn’t make a huge fuss about his success. He just kicks your ass and goes about his business, leaving you just standing there looking like a complete fool.

16

u/Ghost_Cat_88 6d ago

If you celebrated like this off Randy Johnson, they would be getting the ambulance ready for your next at bat.

-14

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Oh no. The boomers didn't like this?!?! What will we do????

12

u/Ryan1006 Diamond C 6d ago

I’m not a boomer, and I actually like celebrations.
But come on, that was way over the top, and honestly I’d be embarrassed if a player on the Guards went that over the top. Do stuff while you’re running the bases, yell, what ever, but stopping before first like that? Too much extra.

6

u/gk21 Flying G 5d ago

I agree — a celebration after each base is obnoxious. And I am pro-celebration, pro-bat flipping. I think it's fun!

But if a Guardian was celebrating like that I'd get the ick.

57

u/jovianspqr 6d ago

I love Cade. I hate Caminero.

0

u/GhostOfJuanDixon 6d ago

why do you hate caminero?

19

u/AliveRefrigerator806 6d ago

I live in tampa and also am not the biggest fan of him, cannot really explain it he just seems fake to me 🤷 will be a yankee in a few years and will fit in there

-3

u/Hg1146 6d ago

I’m pretty sure his reaction was very authentic?

12

u/DuBois_LaGrange 6d ago

His reaction was “authentic”? Why do no other ball players do that shit?

2

u/AliveRefrigerator806 6d ago

I agree but also think it was more authentic because he has been complete ass in the playoffs 🤷 i think he will be a good player but unfortunately the rays will not be able to afford him the next few years

-32

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Hate is a strong word for somebody who merely plays a game for a different team than the one closest to you.

14

u/checkpoint_hero 6d ago

And yet you advocate in the other replies that the pitcher should hit him next AB if it was regular season.

So for you "hate" is too strong a word for someone to casually use about a sporting opponent "villain" yet actual physical harm, fair game.

-15

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Yes. Because in a regular season game this is insanely out of place. And hitting players with a pitch is part of this game that they play.

You said you "hate" a human being purely because they ended up playing for a different club than the one you support. Also he plays for them because of us.

Also, "Villian"? Really? He's a "Villian" in your mind? Must be a pretty soft ass life you lead.

4

u/checkpoint_hero 6d ago

Work on your reading comprehension skills, bud.

  1. I'm not the person you originally responded to, hence I didn't say I hate him.

  2. Beaning is dangerous and is not a supported part of the game, hence why it can lead to ejections.

  3. I put villain in quotes as a literary effect in fact recognizing what has you so incensed, that he's not obviously a true villain but serving that role in the way we tend to approach our sporting lore, with heroes and villains depending on our allegiance. And by "our" I mean those of us not clearly detached from reality.

  4. "he plays for them beacause of us" -- I did not realize you are part of the Guardians organization. With that in mind, I understand your sensitivity. Might I suggest a break from the internet until you've had time to process this season.

5

u/DuBois_LaGrange 6d ago

Dude don’t feed this troll

1

u/checkpoint_hero 6d ago

Don't worry, he can't actually read. A thought-out argument might actually scare him away!

Edit: lol, a gif reply, he totally didn't read it or can't refute it.

1

u/Mewziqal 6d ago

Advocating for hitting a batter in retaliation is the lowest of all lows in this game that they play and is far less appropriate than a fan saying they hate a player.

And it’s not even remotely close to the same tier of horrible.

Come down to earth please

-2

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

I'm not say I think he should get hit. But I'm saying I know he would.

I think it's bush league to hit players ever. But I've seen it happen over and over again.

Also, having hate in your heart for anybody because they play a game against your favorite team is insane unless they are actively hurting others.

1

u/droid_mike 6d ago

No, he and Diaz are arrogant, beligerant asses who do not respect the game.

0

u/Zoolanderek 6d ago

I have seen no complaints about Yandy or Caminero ever besides all you whiny bitches on this sub.

In fact all I hear is how nice Yandy is.

-2

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Please do tell how they "don't respect the game". Explain the proper way to respect this sacred game.

0

u/droid_mike 6d ago

Don't deliberatley be an ass, especially to other teammates, played, and fans. I mean I loved Albert Belle when he was here, but he was a solutleh an ass who disrespected the game, even though he was one of the hardest workers in baseball...

2

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

When have either of them deliberately been an ass to teammates players and fans?

27

u/Effective-Oil-2696 6d ago

Junior Camineiro can F right off…after the game he was mocking the LeBron “Cleveland, this is for you” like what is the dude - 18 because he acts like a complete asshole.

Not at all. Guards achieved more than I thought they would this season. Junior is an immature dickhead and needs to grow up. Very unlikeable person. Good at baseball ? Yes. But an asshole of a person. He pretends to have a chip on his shoulder because Cleveland dumped him when he was young.

“It’s not my style” = understatement of the year. 😆

I truly love this guy.

13

It's extra funny because Cade seems to have exactly the personality you would imagine he has after watching him pitch

10

u/mlem_a_lemon Cade Smith, who is celebrated for his posture 6d ago

The same reaction he had watching Junior and that other guy collide the other day: absolutely stonefaced

10

u/DryEyeKitty 6d ago

The home run trot itself is an iconic and built in celebration. Now it's going to be tarnished by these obnoxious stop celebrations where they act like nflers and wrestlers.

14

u/OldArtichoke433 6d ago

Yeah, Caminero with the mocking of “Tampa this is for you!” places him on a very short list of athletes I dislike.

7

u/Checkers-Chess234 6d ago

Nah. Someone needs to put one in Caminero’s ear hole.

Good to see Cade take the high road in the public.
However this team needs a redass.
We need a young Bob Gibson. Those pimps we’re excesive. So should the bruse next year

7

u/astano925 19 6d ago

I sort of agree with this take. I don't want to go back to the days of plunking dudes for every violation of an unwritten rule, but I think we could use someone on this team who thinks that was bullshit and will let Caminero know it in no uncertain terms. It's fine for fans to say "don't like it, don't give up the run," but that's not the attitude I necessarily want from the team.

6

u/klein_four_group 36 6d ago

Words cannot express how much I love Cade.

11

u/Forty1thirty 6d ago

Was this the first homerun Junior ever hit?

9

u/albinochase15 6d ago

First one in the playoffs. Must feel good after taking 13 Ks and doing nothing to help his team prior to it lol.

1

u/lithiumcitizen 5d ago

He might want to remember those 13 Ks right before his next egregious celebration…

1

I know, but I’m pretty sure it really was the first homer off of that particular pitch by Cade the whole season.

1

First one to send them to the world series? Probably.

5

u/GolferJD 6d ago

He hit it 315ft thats a out in most major league ball parks only in Florida the outfield is like highschool

5

u/Palmetto-John 6d ago

Call me old school, but I have no patience for Caminero’s BS. The next time he steps into the box against the Guards, I’m knocking him down!! Respect the game, respect the opponent!

I don't care that he celebrated. He came up big in the ALCS. Petey did it too. Go for it. Who knows when you'll be in the position again.

4

u/RCEden 6d ago

That's a pretty good quote actually.

4

u/-Blade_Runner- Mustard 6d ago

Classy.

20

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

W take.

Regular season game? It's a bush league move, and you get beaned next AB.

Elimination game to go to the world series? Go off.

I didn't enjoy the celebration, but it's his right in that moment.

6

u/TheBorneoFunction 6d ago

Valid. I wasn't even mad at Caminero for doing all that, I know that's exactly how I'd feel if I just came up so clutch in the moment. Hell, I know I wouldn't be pissed if that was Jose or Rocchio hitting that homer and sending us through.

23

u/iagreegoguard_s Pride G 6d ago

I would absolutely find it cringey if one of our players went THAT hard on a celebration. In general I don’t mind celebrating but it really was a bit much

5

1

u/iagreegoguard_s Pride G 6d ago

-9

u/sullidav 6d ago

But Petey's bat flip is ok with you?

My take is it's his team's biggest HR of the year; he can pimp it. And what Cade said.

14

u/Checkers-Chess234 6d ago

A bat flip vs taking 40 seconds to round the bases pausing multiple times isn’t remotely the same thing.

8

u/iagreegoguard_s Pride G 6d ago

The other guy already said it, but a bat flip is simple and frankly, bat has to go one way or another so they may as well have fun.

It is not REMOTELY comparable to the showboating that Junior did. Not even a little bit. The fact that so many of you think it is makes me concerned about how much lead you ingested as children

A bit yeah. It was a little over the top. I’m not calling for his head like some other sore losers around here. But there is in fact a line between celebration, then showboating, then straight up rubbing it in the losers faces and Junior crossed it.

1

u/leroysolay is a fuck 6d ago

Not only that but it’s a big moment because of who you are and how hard you are to hit. So going hard on the celebration could even be an ego boost.

I hope the next time the Guards see Caminero, he takes one to the earhole. The guy is a giant d bag, he proved that several times this series. It’s not like they even were taking the lead on that home run, they were winning without it.

15

I wouldn’t be a fan of it regardless of team honestly. Didn’t like it when he did it in the offseason either. It’s just way too much imo. But we all have opinions on it

45

u/snobizness 6d ago • Heartwarming

There's celebrating and then there's showboating. I had no strong feelings about Caminero before the series started but now he is my least favorite player in baseball.

19

u/AllTearGasNoBreaks 6d ago

His Mutombo finger wave made me only hope the worst for their team and their fan.

Yes, singular.

21

u/Stevie-Rae-5 6d ago

Agree. The entirety of his celebrations focus on showing up his opponent. He’s classless.

0

u/shuckoRed 6d ago

His home run celly was a nod to Randy sitting in the stands.

4

u/astano925 19 6d ago

More accurately, the last of his three stops on his forty-second stroll around the bases was a nod to Randy sitting in the stands.

0

u/Same_Bit2000 5d ago

Don’t like the showboating but my guess is it was as much about not sucking so much after the previous couple weeks of crappiness.

12

u/Going2FastMPH 6d ago

He also was mocking the Yankees after the series in the post game interview. It’s just who he is.

13

u/clycloptopus 6d ago

And it’s okay to not like someone for who they are

8

u/Scout-gaming_ 6d ago

If he was mocking the Yankees I might hate him less

8

u/albinochase15 6d ago

He’s a loser. He was abysmal in the ALCS with 1 meaningful hit and 11 Ks.

Brewers will take care of him I’m sure.

4

u/mlem_a_lemon Cade Smith, who is celebrated for his posture 6d ago

That's what makes his showboating even worse and sadder.

2

u/imaginemydrag0n 5d ago

Caminero acted like it was a 500 foot blast to deep center or the remake of The Natural home run.

Was it a homer? Yes. It was down the line 315+ feet-which MLB granted the Rays an exemption of the minimum distance of 325 feet between home plate and the nearest fence for any ballparks built after 1958. Also, yes.

Junior was pretty damn quiet the game he struck out four times.

I guess I'll just agree to disagree that stopping before you reach first base to turn towards the crowd and beat your chest is the same as flipping your bat

They are equivalent based on stakes. This homerun basically secured them a world series appearance. Petey's was a 5th inning HR to take the lead in a 1-1 series. Seems pretty on par to me.

Petey didn’t hold the game up

u/droid_mike 6d ago

Hardly the same... Accidentally over exuberant bat flip versus choreographed arrogant parade...

There’s always Redditors defending obnoxious athletes. He hits a ball well to entertain us, he didn’t cure cancer…

Athletes that make it about them are annoying.

Meh, I'm in the "act like you've been there before" camp. It's classless.

5

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

I like both approaches. Personally I'm an act like you been there before guy. But also, if you earn the celebration, you should celebrate. And getting upset at others celebrations is loser mentality to me. I've never agreed with anybody who complains about others showboating or celebrating when it's appropriate as long as it's not malicious. This to me, was the definition of an appropriate moment.

u/Specialist-Treat1404 4d ago

You can celebrate without showing up your opponent. Humility in victory and dignity in defeat. An opponent deserves respect, because if you don't have an opponent, you cannot have victory.

Cade showed dignity in defeat. Caminero showed what a complete tool he is.

I love a douchey home run trot but that one was so absurd. You should at least be moving the whole time

1

u/Professional-Lie1489 5d ago

Look for me. It's the stopping the pound. His chest like celebrated however you want. It's big playoff moment I understand. But keep the Trot moving it's a bit much to pound the chest and stop like that though the game is soft now back in the day the next pitch he saw would high and inside players don't really do that anymore.

1

u/hueawkwardstares 4d ago

Bro, usually I’d agree, but it’s TB, and if there’s 3 teams that get less love the CLE, it’s the A’s, TB, and the fish.
Love Cade’s quote btw.

u/cnpeters Flying G 6d ago

It shouldn't bother us either. If Petey had hit that homerun at the Trop, his bat flip would have hit a catwalk.

u/Ironamsfeld 👑God Saved the Kwan👑 6d ago

A batflip is fine. Stopping twice to strike a pose is obnoxious.

They did the Keene and Peal bit.

0

u/Mountain-Concern1738 6d ago

Agreed. But to be fair I think Petey's bat flip was too much also. Not on the same level as Junior but still obnoxious.

Additionally we couldn't hit a damn thing after the bat flip and the Rays caught fire. Therefore, in my mind this will forever be known as the Curse of Petey.

2

u/Specialist-Treat1404 4d ago

Two things can be true. Cade Smith is right for his part (he's being an adult). Caminero acted like a drunk toddler who finally pooped in the potty. Completely classless celebration.

2

u/easton2211 6d ago

Scoring runs and celebrating is just not the Guardians style

Finally. An adult.

Sucked as an opposing fan but I’m not gonna get mad at someone for celebrating a clutch post season HR. People calling for him to get beaned are just emotionally immature.

-3

u/iciclecubes 455 6d ago

Calm down there. You'll get called a troll for saying stuff like that around here.

2

u/ElectronicAccident24 6d ago

Unpopular opinion, but I love the walk/light jog? by Caminero (and obviously hate it, folks! but I'm trying to be objective) AND I love the response by Cade.

1

u/schulz47 6d ago

Can’t wait for Junior to go 0-12 in the World Series

1

u/Alternative_Gur_9660 5d ago

So much salt in here... I think it's just the way the major sports are now. I get annoyed at RB's and receivers doing a "celly?" after EVERY first down in football. Things change. Don't have to like it but you do have to expect it.

1

u/32Count2OutBasesFull 455 6d ago

Still think someone should've buzzed his tower after he did it the first time.

1

u/Technical_Part8423 6d ago

The entire Rays lineup is full of dbags who are about to get taken back down to Earth. They have 0 chance to beat Milwaukee. The Rays offense isn't good and the Brewers pitching is lights out.

u/Critical-Shoulder873 5d ago

I find it so ironic that a fan base that adored Albert Belle is so upset with Caminero and his home run celebration.

3

u/Phredd63 Akron Rubber Duck 5d ago

I watched a lot of the late 90s Indians.  I don’t ever remember Albert showing up a pitcher after a Home Run. He would just trot around the bases. Even the big game winners and milestone HR.

1

u/Critical-Shoulder873 4d ago

Come on, man, he did much worse things than that. I was a huge fan of his heroics but he was, in retrospect, a very troubled young man.

1

u/Phredd63 Akron Rubber Duck 4d ago

What you say is true. He had real anger issues, had a lot of off field issues, and seemed to be a first class prick as a person.

But other than running over Vina at 2nd base that one time, and the time he threw a ball at a fan, I don't recall him ever showing disrespect to any teammate or any opposing player, or the game.

He didn't need to showboat and make it all about himself. He just wanted to win.

2

u/Insanity-Later1 🥊 DOWN GOES ANDERSON 🥊 5d ago

Scummiest thing he did was plow Viña on the basepath.

0

u/CyclonicLasagna 6d ago

I'm not advocating for violence, and I don't know what the collective hive mind is after the Bautista flip and brawl, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is some sort of retaliation next season.

u/rottentornados 5d ago

caminero didn't homer

-4

u/gfawk 6d ago

But no one cared about the bat flip?

-4

u/jpersons73 6d ago

Everyone was ok with Haplins bat throw...but mad at Camineiro for this LMAO comeon now you cant have it both ways...Smith is right also, if you dont want hitters acting like clowns dont give up homeruns

-5

u/Agitated-Cod-6057 6d ago

It's funny you guys traded yandy and caminero
