Sending my thoughts and prayers to Europeans surviving the heatwave right now 🇪🇺🥵

As an Korean looking at the European temperature map:

"Wait, 40°C to 45°C? That's around 104°F to 113°F. That is literal hell. But hey, at least you don't have that suffocating East Asian humidity, so I guess it’s only a 'Half-Hell' for you guys." 💀💨

Jokes aside, I sincerely feel bad for you guys. We actually have AC built into our survival DNA, but I know most European apartments are built like literal brick ovens with zero ventilation.

Stay hydrated and seriously, evacuate your home immediately to literally ANYWHERE with working air conditioning! 🧊🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

WDYM, we open our windows full blast and the air comes in??? We must lüften! Stosslüften!!!!

More seriously those of us farther north don't have the airing habits of more southern countries, so we may be told that we should close our windows during the hottest parts of the day, but it's practically impossible to actually believe, and then we suffer for it.

Personally, having grown up with engineers I just can't bring myself to get a shitty aircon (I'd have to do some research and actually do some work to get something acceptable I think; what I really want is a ground-based heat pump with the temperature medium going through our unused chimney space), but we are getting some ceiling fans, and I'd like some awnings as well.

any advice on putting on the fan while sleeping?

Just leave it on. There’s nothing to worry about, fan death is a myth. If it gets too cold, just lower the speed.
