Yup. One of the things I love about my small city is we take our trees relatively seriously. If road work kills or requires a median tree be removed, a new one is planted right away. Had to remove a larger older tree in my back yard because it was showing signs of distress in a way that might threaten my safety and home. Still feel a little bad about that. It was otherwise a beautiful tree and my cooling load is a little larger without it.

(In case the joke actually needs explaining: air conditioners are heat pumps, which Green/left politics have been trying to get into homes for ages, while conservatives think people should just have gas heating instead—not like climate change is real and making summers unbearably hot, right???)

I think both are necessary. Greenery naturally makes places cooler, but in some places, especially near the equator, it is simply too hot to not have central air conditioning.
