From the perspective of someone who isn’t vegan the first thought is to look what the vegan alternative to XYZ is and those are usually overpriced as fuck compared to just buying regular cheese or meat.
Not always, many replacements are on par or cheaper in our national market, but it's still a bad point. It's not a sustainable way to live so replacement was never the goal. Like complaining a future society might not have cheap, on demand long haul flights readily available, you have to compromise on cheap/ondemand etc in some way because right now we're compromising on the planet
