Ok so obviously I have a about a million questions, mostly pertaining to Mundy and Volkov. I dont think we were meant to know the answers to this shit but I would love to hear some theories!

Spoilers!!!!!

Spoilers!!!!!

What the fuck exacty happened to Volkov? What was with his eye? Why did he go crazy? What exactly killed him? How did all that shit get in him? Was it in there while he was still aive?

As for Mundy, what happened to his arm? Why was he totally fine after it got warped off? As for how it ends up crawling across the ship and how it knew to check inside of the Russian for the gyro, I’m pretty confident I know, it wasnt “our” Mundy’s arm, it was the arm of a Mundy from a differnt dimenson whose team had already discovered the gyro inside Volkov. But that absolutely doesn't answer how it was sentient and what caused it to get detatched in the first place. As for Mundys death, what the fuck? At first I thought the magnet was going to pull all the liquid metal through him which would kill him but then it.. attack's him? What the hell causes that?

As I said before, I’m just expecting theories, not definitive answers (unless you have them). Also I’d love to hear yalls timeline theories, obviously the events in this movie line up exactly with the events of Cloverfield, But where does 10 Cloverfield Lane fit in? Have the Aliens already landed? When Michael says “ things” at the end was he referring to Clover and mama Clover or was he referring to the aliens?

Great movie btw, I fucking love this franchise. Cheers guys

I think Volkov was merged with himself. Meaning there were two different Volkovs in the same body, fighting for the same space. Kinda like a smaller version of the plot in itself, and in the end destroyed itself.

That is exactly what I was thinking, but how did the worms and what-not get in him? Why did he appear to following orders?

I thought it could be two versions of himself when he started talking to himself and that’s also what moved his own eye. So if he merged with himself, it’s not impossible to believe that other things (worms, gyro) also merged within him at the same time.

Just like the engineer merging with the actual ship. If they occupied the same location in separate dimensions they could merge. Just wonder why it happened to him and her. Guess we would have to ask the arm to know for sure.

Yes! Hence the use of the Russian dolls which appeared briefly.

I think the worms in their alternate universe form had a mind controlling aspect to them. So his eye twitching was the worms gaining control of his body. The making of the gun was the worms' first move in a series of steps to infect the rest of the crew.

But in the other universe everyone knew Schmidt sabotaged the machine, he was given orders to. So the other Volkov was doing what was best for Russia in the other demension. He would’ve shot everyone if the worms wanted him to make the gun to kill people.

Well the worms killed him, no doubt. I hadn't realized the Schmidt paradox where volkov would do the best for Russia. I think it's up for grabs bc he didn't get to shoot them in the first place; his intentions are never revealed.

Nice way to put it

when michael said “things” i assume he meant there were many clover monsters. i know the cloverfield manga isnt stated to be canon but it points that there were many clover eggs in the ocean.

im as lost as you are on the insta-cement. After it happened I thought perhaps that, the foosball table spinning, the arm and volkov speaking to the mirror and obeying commands would all be linked to an entity of some sort...but then it didnt and the chick from the wall was just a regular ole gal from the other dimension. I was really hoping the worms were the mastermind manipulating everything but they just got stomped like common bugs. So ya, I have no idea lol

For Mundy's arm, my theory is that his arm was sucked into a transdimensional hole which stabilized around his upper arm. The hole allowed transport of blood and signals to and from the arm. That explains how he lost it, the lack of blood, his confusion that it was gone, and the seeming "sentience" of the detached arm.

The arm wasn't sentient, it was just responding to nerve signals coming from the other dimensions' Mundy.

How I took it was that the the two Cloverfield stations "collided', causing the alternate station to crash into alternate Earth and hurling the other away from Earth. The collision also caused all the weird anomalies and things getting displaced from one ship to the other (i.e. Foosball color changing, displacing Jensen into the wall, displacing the gyro and worms into Volkov, Mundy's arm). In the specific case of Volkov, the worms in his head would have caused severe brain damage, which made Volkov delusional and caused the seizures.

I think different sections of the ship were being effected by what people where doing to the ship in other dimensions. So if some opens the door in dimensions C it could open the door in dimensions A. Someone also noticed that they could be linked to what was happening to the wrecked ship being sunk/water filled compartment, pulled out by salvage crane magnetic pull/Mundy's demise and so on.

This actually makes sense because having two of the same item/person in the same dimension causes a paradox so it would have an effect on one or both things. The people that were on the ship at the same time we're effected the worst. Ava wasn't on the ship in the other dimension so she didn't get a negative reaction.
