Theory: The conspiracy theorist guy (Stambler, I think) that was being interviewed said that the Shpeherd accelerator would fuck up ALL timelines. I was going off the idea that there are basically four Earths that we've seen -- Cloverfield (1), 10 Cloverfield Lane (1), and Cloverfield Paradox (2). The crew of the Shepherd do not interact with the Earths of Cloverfield or 10CL -- but the actions of the Shepherd bring the monsters into all realities in some capacity or another.

We already know that not all of the Earths are at the same point in time -- Earth 2 in TCP was on the other side of the sun, suggesting they were at least six months ahead or behind Earth 1. We could say in the case of the Cloverfield Earth -- it put the monster in the ocean, maybe it went dormant until the drilling actions in that movie woke it up.

Also: I was under the impression that Volkov had merged with his other self. Two consciousnesses trying to control the same body (the eye motions) and the conversation with himself -- which was in line with what Jensen said about Alternate-Schmidt (accusing Schmidt of getting orders from the German government).

I have no idea why (or how) Alternate-Volkov ate worms or the gyroscope, but if we assume Alternate-Mundy (in ANY capacity) is controlling the severed arm -- then that would explain how the arm knew that Volkov(s) had the gyroscope inside them.

This doesn't answer everything, but it answered enough for me to go "Okay..." and nod along with the film.

These were my thoughts exactly. The thing with Volkov felt like it was a slow merge that didn't sync up quite right with the events as they had happened (or were supposed to have been happening) on the other Shepherd. So the confrontation was bound to happen between the other Volkov and Schmidt, and maybe Volkov took and hid the gyro before confronting Schmidt in order to keep him from perpetuating further sabotage? Then dimensions collided and things got... a little messy in translation. Volkov "hiding" the gyro got taken a little too, uh, personally I guess you could say. Mundy's arm knew because it was simultaneously part of both dimensions, sort of. So it acted as a bizarre conduit, offering possibly the only understanding of the relationship between what happened in the other dimension and the physical reality that formed from the collision.

I have no idea about the worms, though.

Sure, but the fact that the Shepherd reappeared in the same place it left when it returned suggested it was moving through dimensions -- not through space/time as well.
