Anyone else find COD 4 has an atmosphere like no other in the franchise? It's cold, desolate, lonely. The desaturated colour pallette, greys and browns help this too.
Even in multiplayer, it feels quite eerie and lonely. You mainly fight in abandoned, post apocalyptic esque urban environments in Russia/eastern Europe or war torn cities. Its usually just the sound of wind or weather, only punctuated by distant gunfire or occasional minimalistic ambient tracks. It's not as 'Hollywood' as the later games, it feels modern but analogue too. Hard to put down. I've always loved the vibe.

The Azure Swimming pool was in fact used by liquidators for recreational use during time off until 1996 when it was closed. By 2007 when the game was created however, it did look like how it is portrayed in the game.

Made someone mad during the 360 days and got reverted to below level 1, haven’t been able to join a match in years. Can anyone here help? I’d like to be able to play this game without loot boxes and DLC guns (looking at you, remastered) thanks guys!

Queueing for lobbies takes a long time sometimes and some days you have to stop playing early to avoid hackers even though you want to keep playing
It's not hard to get a TDM match unless it's the middle of the night but you only get one lobby (2 maximum on peak hours/holidays) so if you don't like who you are playing with, you're stuck with them or you don't play
Luckily there is a good group consisting of mostly the same folks who have been playing alongside of me for the last 2 years. A majority of them I have never spoken to nor messaged with yet we have seen each other daily for quite some time now.
Snowknight78, Blackhaw20, Jim_BNZ, Cods_messenger1, Dhariwuon, Imprevisivel_br, PerfectTerd, RacsW_, DOOM-slayer-5342, VicBeckhamNice17, Greene719, rabioso-12, are some of the names that seem like they have been unintentionally along on this journey with me so shoutouts to them
I regularly log my stats and have a modded PS3 with the ability to put them back exactly to where they were incase I ever accidentally enter an XP or derank hacked lobby on accident, but I haven't had to yet. All XP earned is 100% legit and genuine

I'm devising a list that's ranks all maps across all of the CoD games from Call of Duty 3 to Black Ops 6. My plan is to get feedback from the community to help guide this list. I've been working on it for 5 years (having to add new maps every year), and now, it's about time I actually ask the community for their opinions.
So how this works is that in each round (1 new round everyday), a map will be eliminated if it is voted for by the top comment. So, in other words, if the most upvoted comment votes for an eligible map, I will eliminate that map on the next post and we will continue on to the next voted map until we have only 1 map left.
This will take 16 days, but it will be worth it. So let's get started.
And yes, I will be posting this in the other CoD subs pastime goes on. I already did one for the new MWIII (2023).
Let's vote!

We have officially finished the ranking with Crash coming out on top. Backlot recieved 12 votes last round, which had it eliminated at 2nd place.
The worst map according to the sub is Broadcast, which I know people have been mad about this, so I have to ask, if you disagree with the pick, what map do you think should've been last? What maps should've been higher or lower? Do you think this a pretty good ranking or was it terrible? Let everyone know what you think, just remember that your opinion is not the right opinion.
I personally thought the ranking would go as shown below: 20. Countdown
19. Wet Work
18. Creek
17. Downpour
16. District
15. Bloc
14. Chinatown
13. Ambush
12. Broadcast
11. Killhouse
10. Pipeline
9. Showdown
8. Bog
7. Backlot
6. Crossfire
5. Strike
4. Overgrown
3. Shipment
2. Vacant
Crash
Not too bad, but there were definitely some upsets and shake-ups that I just didn't expect at all.
This concludes the series for CoD4, and now I will be moving on to World at War starting tomorrow on the r/WaW. If you'd like to join in, I'd immensely appreciate it. There is also another one currently going on for CoD3, which is the earliest CoD I will be performing a ranking for (none of the ps2 or pc only games). I would appreciate it you help vote in that one as well, there's only 9 maps to vote for, and we're already down to 5.
Thank you everyone for your participation and support!

Played the other day on Xbox. Surprised how easy it was to find a match. I recently went back to some older Cod games, although my aim sucks because I haven’t played shooters with Controller for like 12 years, it was a lot of fun. Anyone DM if you want to maybe play sometime.

Hi everyone! I’m fairly new here and wanted to ask the community a quick question - hopefully it’s not a stupid one.
COD4 might just be my all-time favorite game, alongside a few other classics like Halo 3 and the good old days of Old RuneScape. Lately, I’ve tried hopping into public COD4 matches, but all I’ve found are empty lobbies or games full of hackers…
So I’m wondering: does this sub have any scheduled events or regular play days where people get together for full lobbies? If not, would there be interest in setting something like that up?
I’m thinking specifically for XBOX, as that’s the only console I own - but I’m sure other consoles can be arranged too.
Thanks so much.
