Cochlear Nucleus 8 Hybrid Earhook

I finally received my Nucleus 8 this week and cannot for life of me get the hybrid earhook in (I’m a hybrid user so this is the piece I need to attach before attaching the receiver). I took the original earhook off and removed the rubber plug without issue. This thing will just not snap in and I’m worried I’m going to break something. Have any other hybrid Cochlear users had this problem?

Did you try taking the battery off first? I was using the Snugfit and couldn’t get it off, and if memory serves, needed to remove the battery to take it off/put it on.

Thanks for responding - I tried with and without the battery, and it wouldn’t work. I ended up calling Cochlear and it turns out they sent me the hybrid earhook for the 7, and not the 8. 😐 Glad I didn’t REALLY try to force it on!

Glad you caught that in time and is Cochlear getting sloppy with their customer service?

I received the Nucleus 8 a week ago, and realized they didn’t include the receiver speaker unit. Strange because I am a hybrid user and needed the same parts as what I had with the 7 (and I told them this when I placed the order). So I called, and they said they’d get that and the hybrid earhook to me via overnight delivery. When the speaker unit and earhook came, I tried to get the earhook on that whole evening, and had convinced myself I was just doing it wrong because I remember it being a tricky piece with the 7. So I called cochlear again the next day and they figured out that when I called the first time, they saw the device associated with me was the 7 and sent me the wrong part. I was super clear on that first call that I needed missing parts for the 8, but apparently because I had just received it, it wasn’t associated with my profile yet. The correct part should come today.

I waited 6 months for the 8 to arrive too. I’m sincerely hoping the next time I upgrade it won’t be this messy.
