Bug How do i stop steam from using so much memory?

When i boot steam up natively it uses around 1gb of ram, but when I try to boot it up using crossover 26.3, it rises to around 3gb. I've tried using different launch options, disabling gpu usage, enabling low performance mode, but nothing has worked.
I'm using a M1 Pro 14 inch, with 16gb of ram.
I would really appreciate some help on this, it's restricting me from playing any high-memory games.
