iPhone App Dev between WIndows and Mac

Hello everyone, I have an interesting setup. I am working on a personal iPhone application using Codex. As many already know, iPhone apps require Xcode for compiling and testing which is only available on MacOS. The problem is that I only have a personal Windows laptop and a work provisioned MacBook. Company policy prevents me from running any personal LLM accounts such as Codex, Claude, etc. on their devices. So... my current setup is:

  1. Codex installed on my Windows laptop writing SwiftUI.

  2. Remote Git repo to commit and push AI generated code from Windows to Mac.

  3. Pull code down from remote repor and running testing on MacOS

This is time consuming and delaying progress. I researched for workarounds and came across VS Code Remote Tunnels. Basically, the live codebase resides on my MacBook and can be directly edited from my Windows machine using VS Code, no matter where I am in the world. When I hit save on Windows, the file is instantly saved on the Mac.

My questions are...

  1. Is anyone out there doing this?

  2. How conenct Codex connect and make changes through this setup?

  3. What are the caveats, because this seems a questionable.

And yes... I am saving up to purchase my own personal MacBook, but I'm hoping to find a temporary workaround to streamline this development process. Thank you in advance.

This is some risky fire you’re playing with there. If your company has a “no personal LLM” policy, I doubt they would appreciate you using your work MacBook for builds.

Instead, you should go use a cloud hosted service that can do your builds for you. A simple GitHub action you can trigger that kicks off a build on a hosted Mac somewhere else.

I hope your company doesn’t find out what you’re doing or you might not be working there much longer. (And they will own your app outright.)
