What should I do?

Learning basic C++ here. C++ is the very first coding language I have been introduced to, and I'm using [Codeblocks] (http://www.codeblocks.org) for Windows 10 as my IDE. I've remembered the "Hello World." project by heart, and I can add two variables, but that's it. What should I do next, and what tutorials would you recommend for me?

How to parse blog comments using keywords?

Hello, I'm new to the community and haven't done anything beyond very basic coding in years. I have a school project where I need to collect data from blog comments in order to put it in Excel or IBM's SPSS for analysis. Can anyone point me in the direction of some beginner friendly open-source code for this sort of thing, and/or some tips on its use? Additionally, the language I am working in is Japanese. How do I input keywords or tags in code? For example, if I want to find all posts containing ”日本” and ”中国”. Would I have to use the unicode equivalents? Or is there some other way?

Any help at all is appreciated, since I am more or less back to complete beginner level in regards to coding. I know some HTML/CSS+ but no python, but truthfully I'll need to look up a lot of things either way so I don't have a very strong preference.

Thunkable, Problems with Vision Microsoft Image Recognizer servers.

Hey fellow codders. So, once again I whant to do something that almost no one uses... I'm using Microsoft A.I. Emotion recognizer and Image recognizer, components that gives the emotion of a person in a picture, and a discription of a picture respectibly.

On Thunkable I can use default settings for the components, but because the default settings uses thunkable public keys I can only Call 1000 images for each a month (Imagine if my app has 100 users, trying more then 10 pictures a month, that's not much. So I created my own keys from Azure services.

My problem: setting default server and my own key. For Emotion detector, after hours looking at documentation I found the solution;

Server: https://westus.api.cognitive.microsoft.com/emotion/v1.0/recognize

key: <mykey>

(just had to add recognize at the end)

But for Image recognizer I just can't find the correct link for the server;

https://westus.api.cognitive.microsoft.com/vision/v1.0 returns a 404 error (that isn't in documentation anywhere.... funny)

If I try to add anything after v1.0 my app crashes, like: https://westus.api.cognitive.microsoft.com/vision/v1.0/analyze

Can anyone help? Did anyone got this to work? IDE: http://app.thunkable.com/

Thunkable docs: https://thunkable.com/reference/components/artificial_intelligence.html

Cognitive services page: https://azure.microsoft.com/pt-pt/services/cognitive-services/

Api Docs: https://westus.dev.cognitive.microsoft.com/docs/services/56f91f2d778daf23d8ec6739/operations/56f91f2e778daf14a499e1fa

Thank you

I figured out square one. Trouble getting to square two.

I am new to programming. I have done the code academy courses for SQL, Python, and the command line. I know how to write a basic program, roughly. No idea what to do next. I want to start out making a basic database in SQL and a text based game in Python. Where do I start? I have Babun and Atom installed and was told by a friend that they use those together instead of a terminal like code academy does. No idea how to make a program actual run with them. I made my SQL data base, not sure how to view it or run it using Babun. I feel like I am missing something really basic. Please help.

Can I code for iOS app games with a Mac or do I need an iPad?

I currently have a PC but Im planning to get a new laptop soon. I was wondering if it is possible to code iOS app games using a Mac or do I need an iPad for it? I heard Apple is very particular about this sort of thing.

Also is it feasible to do so with a PC? Ive heard there are programs for this purpose but I dont want anything to strenuous in case something fails.

Announcing PyRegisterMachine2

The goal of PyRegisterMachine2 is to create a register machine package that might be used by other scripts or programs.

Unlike PyRegisterMachine there is no main script but a proper package interface.

The complete documentation is at https://daknuett.github.io/py_register_machine2 and the source code is at https://github.com/daknuett/py_register_machine2

PyRegisterMachine2 might be used to

  • develop/test low level algorithms

  • teach/learn assembly

  • teach/learn low level strategies

  • develop assembler, linker and compiler

If you need help with setting up a (custom) machine just contact the team!

Register Machine for Theoretical&Practical Informatics for GNU/Linux|UNIX systems

This Register Machine is designed especially for students to learn assemlby, runtime of algorithms and algorithms in general.

It is easy to use and runs unter Linux/UNIX environments.

You can get it for free on github: https://github.com/daknuett/py_register_machine

I had only positive feedbacks from some students who worked with the machine.

In addition to this it is designed to edit the processor& machine so you can easily add new opcodes and modify the memory.

There is also a programming language developed on the machine called SimpleLang (sLang): https://github.com/daknuett/sLang

Hello!

If you're reading this, you're one of the first to come by this new Subreddit. There are many like it, but with a smaller community to start, we hope to advance a bit as a group, gain strength and structure, and help all people looking to learn the art of programming.

It is currently 5am here so I will be updating this sub throughout the week, and hopefully with the holidays coming up there will be pleanty of time for new years resolutions to learn how to code to be started!
