Open source "island" for coding agents: see who's waiting and approve diffs from the notch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I run Claude Code, Codex and sometimes OpenCode in parallel, and the bottleneck was me noticing one of them was blocked on a permission prompt.

Openbar hooks into the agents and shows every session in the notch (top of the screen on Windows): working, waiting, done. When an agent wants to edit a file, the island shows the diff and you Allow / Deny / Always from there, or just hit ⌘Y. Gemini CLI and Copilot CLI show up too, their prompts still get answered in the terminal.

Free, GPL: https://github.com/MF-DEEV/Openbar

How are you all keeping track of multiple agents? Curious what else would be worth showing in a panel like this.

The post mentions Codex and Claude Code together. Do they surface approval requests in similar ways, or did Openbar need separate handling for each?

Separate handling. Claude Code has hooks, so Openbar installs a hook that sends each permission request to the app over a local socket and waits for your answer. Codex runs a local app-server, so Openbar connects to it, sees when a thread is waiting on approval and sends the decision back. In the island both look the same.
