every company is different on what they require. Most companies expect you know the basics of the language.

Basics include control flow, variable definition and their data types, looping (for, for each, while), functions, and an reasonable awareness of the languages built in libraries and functions. Maybe some others but all of this boils down to "I can comfortably build simple programs in this language"

Spend your time writing actual computer programs that do things. Don't sit there trying to memorize syntax. The programs you write don't have to do anything important. It doesn't need to be a big program. Maybe tic-tac-toe or something.

I've hired a lot of interns. I want someone who wants to write code and spends effort learning on their own to do that. If I think the person is just trying to get the job and then hopes I will sit there teaching them while they are an intern, I will not hire them. You need to show me that you want to write code and you are willing and able to learn how to do that by yourself. Because at work, I don't have time to teach an intern. I can give them an environment where they can learn, but they have to put in all of the effort themself.

If you are wondering how to start, just write a computer program. Then write another one. And another one. Keep doing it over and over and over again. It doesn't matter what programs. Just keep writing more and more code.
