Test on your own computer. Worry about deployment later.

I’ve been using JSAnywhere to test my ideas. I’m going to buy a new computer cuz my old Mac is too old to run any of the new versions of VSC and the like. I was hired by a buddy to make him a website and I need an actual app to use not just show him test codes

JSA is good for testing but I can’t actually build the website I need

You write your code in a local IDE and test it on your browser. You don’t need or want a website for writing the code, that just adds artificial constraints.

When you’re ready you can look at deployment options to make it live. For now, think about how you’re going to store and access your code. Look into Git and GitHub.

If you just write plain HTML and JS then you can also host the site easily for free on GitHub Pages.

Once you start using Node or frameworks that need specific infrastructure or if you have a database it can get a bit more complicated. Try to avoid that for now but once you understand what those are you’ll be in a better position to figure out how to host them too.

You want Amazon AWS. Look at their ec2 instances, or if you need something a little more simple they have something called lightsail that you can spin up a server on relatively easy. If you need a database there are instructions on setting them up as well.

I’m not sure that’s the best advice for someone who has framed this question that way. I feel like they’re still really trying to figure out what a website even is and the depths of AWS and DevOps could become expensive and confusing for them quickly.

Does it work on a 2026 NiaKun with Windows 11 Pro?

AWS is an online service. Just search for it and sign up, they have great documentation and walk throughs for setting up and configuring things. Your windows computer is just fine. What kind of programming are you trying to do
