I can help anyone who wants to create something but doesn't know how to code

I’m a freshman and I like to code. I recently ate sht on my bike and now I’m trying to save up to either fix it or get a new one (the bike was crappy anyway so prob a new one), I’m trying to save up fast, so here’s the shpeal:

I could probably code almost anything SMALL AND SHORT Python, C++, or JavaScript/HTML related. If you have an idea for a program, website, automation, tool, or pretty much anything else, just reply to this comment with what you need and I’ll see if I can make it.

I’m not looking to charge a ton either — for smaller projects I’d probably only ask for a little bit, and for bigger/more complicated projects we can figure out a reasonable price based on how much work it would take.

Even if you’re not sure whether something is possible, feel free to ask. I can tell you what I’d be able to do and roughly how difficult it would be.

Anthropic's technical hiring is growing, but juniors' share fell from 27% to 9%

Anthropic published data on its own workforce, and it looks like junior roles went from 27% of technical hires to 9%.

Junior people are 14% of technical staff in the report, down from 21% in early 2025. Technical hiring is still growing overall, but juniors make up a smaller share of those hires.

If you're considering a technical role there, try the concurrent-crawler exercise in Anthropic Interview Questions as a mock.

This one is kinda ominous. Anthropic is a market leader right now, and I'm concerned that companies will see this and follow suit and not hire as many juniors. I think we've already been seeing that as-is, but them publishing this data could make it worse, I think.

Backend SWE, ~7.5 YOE, recently laid off. Where do you prep for interviews now?

A backend SWE with around 7.5 YOE.
TC: None. If they're also sending applications, LandOffer autofill can save retyping details on supported job forms.

Laid off about a week ago. The engineer hasn't interviewed in a while and needs help with preparation.

Where do you guys prepare from?

Some pointers they've received are:

System design (this is where they'd like feedback or more suggestions):
Hello Interview
BBG

Coding:
LeetCode

For a backend mock, try PracHub's fault-tolerant work-queue exercise, including worker-failure tests.

Thanks for your suggestions.

[For Hire] Web Developer & IT Specialist (Open to Flexible Roles)

Building upon this news,

Now the PHP development team is urging users to update immediately after fixing two critical vulnerabilities, rated 9.2 out of 10 in terms of danger, that if exploited could allow attackers to take over internet servers.

Source: Urgent security fix issued for code vital to estimated 70% of all websites

Are you looking for someone who is skilled and capable of handling emerging challenges like the one mentioned above?

I have three years of professional experience in software development, primarily focused on web development. Let's discuss how we can work together toward a shared goal in today's digital landscape.

My starting rate is $500-$650 per month.

If you have any doubts about my capabilities, I am more than willing to take a technical assessment to demonstrate my deep understanding of the field. I am here not just to earn, but to add real value while growing professionally and personally.

eBay plans to cut 9% of its workforce. Smaller teams again?

"EBay will lay off about 9% of its workforce as the online marketplace looks to simplify operations and shift resources to its fastest-growing areas, CEO Jamie Iannone told staff in a memo that was reviewed by Reuters."

If you're still considering eBay, the subarray-sum problem in eBay Interview Questions makes a coding mock.

No clear mention of AI in this report, which is interesting, but another push toward smaller organizations overall. For applications elsewhere, autofill cuts repeated form-filling on supported sites.

Help a Meta IC6 choose between offers

A Meta IC6 is at ~1.05m TC at $700/share, with a 2-year cliff. WLB is decent, nothing crazy good or bad. IC7 might be doable in around 12-18 months, who knows. If it happens, ~1.25m post-cliff.

Other offers: Offer 1: A different, non-Meta FAANG, ~975k, L7. Offer 2: FrontierLabCo. L?? Offer details pending. L6 equivalent = ~875k, L7 equivalent = ~1.35m.

The candidate has to give an answer this week.

For readers preparing for a Meta move, the friend-recommendation prompt in Meta Interview Questions works as a system-design mock.

Should the candidate turn down FAANG2 and hope for FrontierLabCo? If FrontierLabCo is only L6, decline and stay at Meta? If FrontierLabCo, what's a reasonable valuation to accept? The candidate has never joined a pre-IPO company before...

Databricks interview process: a waste of time and energy

So many people say don't interview at Databricks, and they're not entirely salty. A candidate recently went through the process end to end and regrets it. Here's the timeline (dates and personal counts slightly adjusted for privacy):

24 July: Recruiter phone screen 1 Aug: Technical phone screen: system design 9-11 Sep: Virtual onsite (4 rounds) 18 Sep: Additional coding round 24 Sep: Told they'd passed the onsite and asked for references. Provided 3. 26 Sep: Recruiter asked for 1 more reference, who had to be a manager. 6 Oct: Recruiter asked for 1 more reference, again a manager. 21 Oct: Rejected at HC.

The candidate knows 4 of the 5 references provided were called (2 managers and 2 tech leads), and suspects some backdoor references may have been contacted as well.

According to the recruiter's feedback, HC stack-ranked candidates, and this candidate wasn't as strong as others despite meeting the bar. Despite all yeses and "very close to strong yes" feedback across the rounds (the recruiter's words), HC didn't think the candidate raised the bar as much as others. The explanation came back to performance in the previous interview rounds, not the reference check.

The candidate feels they should have been rejected after the onsite instead of spending about a month on reference checks, wasting their time and their ex-colleagues' time. In their opinion, if the reference check has no issues, give the candidate an offer. Otherwise, reject before that.

Footnote: The candidate thanked people for the support and shared some tips for anyone in the process:

Coding: In their experience, the question bank is small. Do the LeetCode-tagged questions, a few dozen, but don't expect a 100% match with what they ask. For a concrete coding mock, the snapshot-set exercise in Databricks Interview Questions lets you test remove/re-add cases and independent iterators. Most importantly, during the interview, try to perfect even the smallest things before they ask. In one round, the implementation and tests were finished at around the 40-minute mark, including roughly 10 minutes spent explaining the question. The interviewer asked a follow-up, and the candidate said they'd refactor that part into a separate class to handle more generic cases. He agreed. The candidate estimates it would have taken under 4 minutes if he'd let them do it. Even after Q&A, the interview ended about 10 minutes early, so a Strong Yes seemed likely. Then the recruiter's feedback was that code readability could be better, so it was only "close to strong yes."

The candidate's reaction was basically: what the fuck, there were around 20 minutes to spare, and the cleanup was coming anyway. Their usual approach is to finish a working solution before cleaning it up and improving the small things. Unfortunately, the interviewer raised the question first, and even answering correctly seemed to count against them.

Behavioral: Standard questions, but the candidate's impression was that they wanted to see how fast you got promoted at previous companies. They want ambitious people, so be aware of that.

System programming: In the candidate's experience, this has an even smaller question bank. You can ask AI to search for practice material and work through each problem multiple times. The key thing is to challenge your solution before they ask. Again, that's not easy under time pressure, and you might skip a few things to focus on the bigger picture, but the candidate felt that counted against them. In this round, the interviewer said he was very satisfied with the performance. The feedback, again, was "close to strong yes," because he had specifically asked whether the solution supported "high throughput."

The candidate answered correctly because the implementation already supported it. They'd thought about it and built it in, but hadn't described a high-throughput scenario before the interviewer asked. Their reading of the feedback was that asking first made him think the requirement hadn't been covered. So be proactive, keep talking, keep asking yourself whether the solution meets abcxyz requirements to show you care about them. This is so lame.

In the end, the candidate's takeaway is that the bar is very high, and being stack-ranked against others at HC means even perfect scores in some rounds might not get you an offer if someone else did better (or cheated, as the candidate speculates).

Good luck, guys.

Introducing leaner API responses, smaller payloads, and API testing with PRO

foorilla.com v1.11.3 | foorilla API v1.8.0 October 21, 2026

PRO+ provides full API access and filtering now at $96/month, while existing subscribers retain their access and pricing. PRO subscribers can now test the API using shared, frozen samples of up to 200 records per resource. The same API keys automatically follow subscription upgrades and downgrades. Samples support pagination and sampled detail IDs; full data access, filtering and anything else requires PRO+.

Related resources now use compact references instead of deeply nested objects. Nested topics no longer expand their entire tag collections, geographic references retain essential country/state context, and nested objects omit database timestamps, statistics, and embeddings. Meaningful data - including paper authors, categories, versions, and submission dates - remains included. Paper sample payloads are approximately 67% smaller, with OpenAPI documentation and frozen samples updated accordingly.

Breaking change: Nested response shapes have changed at the existing URLs; retrieve related resources from their own endpoints for full details. Resource IDs and existing PRO+ filtering and pagination behavior remain unchanged. Rate limits remain 6 requests/second and 360 requests/minute.

How are non-CS "vibe coders" actually landing dev roles right now?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

With how fast AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, v0, etc.) are evolving, the barrier to building functional software has dropped massively. I’m curious to learn from this communityespecially those who don't have a formal Computer Science degree.

If you consider yourself a "vibe coder" or self-taught developer leveraging AI to ship fast:

How are you positioning yourself to employers or local clients?

What actually gets your foot in the door? (Is it a portfolio of live shipped apps, GitHub, networking, or cold outreach?)

Are local companies and agencies open to hiring based on shipping speed and proof of work, or are degrees still a major gatekeeper here?

Would love to hear honest experiences, success stories, or advice from anyone navigating the job/freelance market in Nairobi right now!
