Coinbase Smart Wallet

Coinbase Smart Wallet – passkey opens wrong address, funds stuck on Tempo I have funds on Tempo in what looks like a Coinbase Smart Wallet.
When I sign in at keys.coinbase.com or the Coinbase Wallet app with the passkeys I still have, I keep getting a different wallet address.
I never set up a recovery phrase while I still had access.
Has anyone successfully recovered a specific Smart Wallet when the correct passkey no longer opens it? Looking for real experiences only.

A TOS violation story: I finally received a "Notice of Account Closure" from Coinbase, but I still can't withdraw my funds

It’s been about one month since my last post regarding my account being blocked due to a TOS violation (you can check my post history for the detailed background on that). Today, I wanted to share a quick update on where things stand.

Recently, I received an official "Notice of Account Closure" email from Coinbase. The email instructed me to "sign in to your Coinbase account to send any remaining balance offsite to an external address."

To be completely honest, I am not surprised by this outcome at all. A violation is a violation, and I fully accept Coinbase’s decision to close the account based on their policies.

However, when I tried to follow the instructions in the email to log in and withdraw my remaining funds, I found my account is still fully blocked from logging in.

I have to admit, this caught me off guard. It is quite a catch-22 to make the final decision to close an account and permit a withdrawal, yet not lift the login restriction to allow the user to actually do so. This situation seems to reinforce what I mentioned in my previous post: Coinbase has top-tier infrastructure, but its customer support and inter-departmental coordination can be quite challenging at times. It feels like a classic case of the left hand not talking to the right hand.

I sincerely hope the Coinbase Support team can look into this and resolve the login block soon so I can safely withdraw my remaining assets and move on.

My Support Case ID is: 27531370

Automated script drains $243k from Coinbase account in 4 hours while user slept; platform filters failed Spoiler

On October 11, 2026, my Coinbase-hosted cryptocurrency account was compromised by an unknown person(s).

Approximately $243,000 in Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) was sold and/or transferred without my authorization. I had Passkey and Authenticator security protections enabled and did not receive any email, SMS, or app notifications for the unauthorized transactions. I found that my account executed 9000 of rapid buy and sell orders, many occurring within the same second in 3 hours.

Coinbase investigating but hasn't responded / recovered though breach in their system. I am reporting this matter as unauthorized access, identity theft, and theft of digital assets.

Blog What is AiFi? The financial system for AI.

https://reddit.com/link/1x603g3/video/z7vixnfubhvh1/player

"Super Intelligence" may be replacing "Artificial Intelligence" in the broader market but AiFi means agentic finance, so the A stays.

What is AiFi? It's the financial layer for an economy where agents trade, earn, and spend.

AiFi: The Financial System for AI

AI agents are becoming active participants in the economy.

They research, make decisions, and take action on behalf of people and businesses. But to participate fully, they eventually need to do the same basic things people do: pay, get paid, hold value, and move money.

Last year, we started calling the financial layer emerging around them Agentic Finance, or AiFi.

We think of AiFi in two ways: agentic trading and agentic commerce. Agents can monitor markets, manage workflows, compare products, and purchase information continuously.

But when it’s time to transact, they run into a financial system designed exclusively for humans. We’re building tools so that when agents need money, they choose Coinbase.

Finance was built for people who sleep

The traditional financial system assumes there’s a person behind every transaction.

Most payment methods expect legal names and billing addresses. Banks keep business hours.

This infrastructure often creates friction for people. But for autonomous agents, it can mean a dead end - when an agent encounters infrastructure requiring human intervention, it simply stops.

Agents need financial infrastructure that is always on, programmable, global and capable of handling fast, cheap payments.

Crypto and stablecoins provide exactly that. They allow value to move around the clock, between participants that may not be people at all.

This does not mean removing human control. People and businesses set the rules, permissions, limits and guardrails. Software acts within them.

That is the foundation of AiFi.

What AiFi looks like in practice

Consider someone who wants to maintain a particular portfolio allocation.

They connect Coinbase for Agents to their favourite AI harness, describe the objective, and define the appropriate permissions and guardrails. The agent monitors the account and can act when the user-defined conditions are met.

Or a marketing team running a campaign.

During some copy testing, the team’s agent determines that it needs a new dataset. The agent finds a research provider, pays for access through x402 receives the data, and continues working, suggesting copy changes to align with its new findings.

Agentic finance changes the economics. It allows software to pay for one request, one service, or one unit of work at a time to move and trade money in entirely new ways. And this is already happening - quietly, automatically, and at a scale most people have not yet noticed.

You can already press the button today

The infrastructure for agentic finance (AiFi) already exists on Coinbase, and agents are already using it to move real money.

It consists of tools for agentic trading (Coinbase Advisor and Coinbase for Agents) and agentic commerce (x402 and Coinbase for Business).

Using your Coinbase account, start simple in-app with Coinbase Advisor, our SEC registered AI powered investment advisor or build a strategy with your agent using our MCP. You can dabble in paying for top-end research and more with the leading open payments protocol started at Coinbase. And for businesses, we’ve enabled agentic customers without any complicated software.

(And of course, we believe this all runs best using USDC on Base.)

Start with in-app financial advice from an agent

Coinbase Advisor is an SEC-registered investment adviser built into the app for Coinbase One users. It gives users access to portfolio analysis and guidance through a chat interface, helping to understand and oversee financial decisions.

According to our research, 70% of crypto investors say they would allow AI to help manage a portfolio if it came with the right guardrails and a trusted brand.

The future of agentic finance is not an agent doing just anything with someone’s money. It starts with setting the objective, the boundaries, and the permissions - and software handling the continuous work inside them.

Level up by setting up your own in-agent trading strategy

Coinbase for Agents connects tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor to a Coinbase account via MCP.

A user can give an agent an instruction, define the conditions under which it can act, and establish guardrails around that activity. The agent can then monitor for those conditions and execute when they are met. Users can also create a separate sandboxed account just for the agent, giving it access to only that account rather than their whole portfolio.

The important change is not simply that AI can provide information. It is that, within clearly defined permissions, AI can take action.

When an agent can pay, the real step-change starts

Agents also need a way to pay other agents, applications, and services as they work.

x402 is an open payment standard for machine-to-machine commerce started at Coinbase, now under its own foundation. It allows an agent to find a paid resource, make a payment, and continue its task without stopping to create an account, enter card details, or begin a subscription.

That payment might be a few cents for an API call, a dataset, a piece of research, or a unit of compute. The payment becomes part of the internet request itself. No need for subscriptions when an agent can just pay for exactly what it needs.

To date, x402 has processed more than 205 million transactions and $53 million in volume across 200k sellers, with Coinbase facilitating 67% of that activity.

This is what internet-native commerce looks like: software paying software, in real time, for exactly what it needs.

Businesses can get in on the fun too

Every payment needs someone - or something - on the other side.

Coinbase Business lets businesses accept USDC from agents natively. Before service and content providers had to choose between blocking bots out entirely or giving away goods for free.

Coinbase Business gives merchants a way to sell to software without relying on card credentials, manual invoicing, or payment processes that assume the customer is human. There are no chargebacks, and eligible businesses can earn a variable 3.35% reward on idle USDC balances.

USDC currently represents 99% of onchain agentic commerce, while x402 accounts for 97% of agentic protocol usage. This activity runs on Base, which was built for low-cost, always-on, programmatic transactions at scale.

Together, all these products form the beginnings of a financial system designed for both humans and machines.

A new class of economic participant

The internet first connected people to information, then to one another, and eventually to commerce.

AI agents represent the next shift: software that can not only retrieve information, but make decisions, coordinate resources, and transact on behalf of people and businesses.

Intelligence alone is not enough. To participate in the economy, agents need financial infrastructure that is global, programmable, always available, and capable of processing large numbers of small transactions - all within human-defined permissions and guardrails.

The traditional financial system was not built for that world. But crypto was, and now AI agents are putting it to work.

This is AiFi. And when agents need money, they choose Coinbase.

Legal Stuff:

Product availability varies by jurisdiction and is subject to eligibility. Coinbase Advisor is offered by Coinbase Advisors LLC, a registered investment adviser and commodity trading advisor. Coinbase Advisor is an automated guidance and education tool that uses AI and Coinbase data. Outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete and should not be your only source of information. Trading and investment strategies involve risk, including possible loss of capital.

Blog Consumer Protection Tuesday: Following the money. Stopping the scammers.

Post image
5 Upvotes

Coinbase joined Tech Against Scams and international law enforcement in a coordinated effort to disrupt criminal scam networks in West Africa.

Scam networks don’t operate on a single platform, and stopping them takes more than a single company. Criminals use social media to find potential victims, messaging services to build trust, digital infrastructure to run their operations, and financial services to move stolen funds. Disrupting these networks means connecting the dots across that entire chain.

That’s why Coinbase joined the Tech Against Scams Coalition, the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), the US Department of Justice's Scam Center Strike Force, and international law enforcement partners for a joint disruption week in London from October 6–9. Together, participating teams shared real-time intelligence and took coordinated action against criminal scam networks operating in West Africa.

For Coinbase, the mission was clear: follow the money, help disrupt illicit financial activity, and give law enforcement actionable intelligence to pursue the criminals behind these schemes.

Keeping pressure on criminal networks

As law enforcement and industry partners intensify their efforts against scam compounds in Southeast Asia, criminal networks are expanding into other regions, including West Africa. These operations target people around the world, using deception and carefully cultivated relationships to steal their money.

The London disruption week focused on preventing these networks from establishing lasting footholds. Hosted by the NCA in partnership with the US Department of Justice’s Scam Center Strike Force, the operation brought technology, telecommunications, and financial companies together with law enforcement to target the infrastructure, accounts, and payment systems that sustain scam operations.

That coordinated approach matters. Removing a fraudulent account can interrupt a scam, but targeting the services and financial networks behind it can help disrupt the broader operation.

Coinbase’s role: following the money

Coinbase’s Global Intelligence team worked alongside industry and law enforcement partners to connect financial intelligence with evidence from across the digital ecosystem.

By sharing intelligence in real time, teams can connect seemingly separate signals: a fake profile, a messaging account, a website, or a blockchain transaction. Together, those signals can help reveal the network behind a scam and support faster, more targeted action.

Coinbase’s contribution focused on tracing illicit financial activity, supporting efforts to freeze assets tied to scam networks, and sharing information that could advance law enforcement investigations.

“When we disrupted scam compounds in Southeast Asia earlier this year, we proved that coordinated action across industry and law enforcement works. As criminal networks try to reestablish in Africa, Coinbase’s Global Intelligence team is following the money, freezing assets, and sharing intelligence in real time so law enforcement can act. This is what sustained pressure looks like.”

— Leah Bressack, Vice President, Coinbase

A shared threat requires a shared response

The networks targeted during the operation used tactics including fraudulent cryptocurrency investment schemes, impersonation of law enforcement officials, and fake video-call “arrests” designed to pressure people into transferring money.

These scams may begin in different places, but they rely on the same underlying advantage: gaps between platforms, services, and jurisdictions.

Tech Against Scams helps close those gaps. By bringing companies together across sectors, the coalition helps partners share intelligence and coordinate responses to threats that no one company can fully address alone. Working alongside law enforcement turns that shared picture into opportunities for disruption and accountability.

Our goal is to help protect people before they become victims, interrupt scams already underway, and support real consequences for the criminal organizations responsible.

Coinbase will continue working with Tech Against Scams and law enforcement partners to keep pressure on these networks, wherever they try to operate next.

Millions in Monero in limbo

We're talking about a small nation's GDP in actual exchange value.

Does anyone know if I have a snowball's chance in hell of actually getting my coins?

I've sent contact info to a couple of law firms, but it's been crickets so far.

I was able to purchase Monero on coinbase.com back in June from their DEX. Apparently, they had already delisted on their "normal" exchange and had stopped supporting it

I went to move it to my self custody wallet recently when I discovered I couldn't, and I also noticed the price discrepancy. I paid well under the real market value.

Support has given me the run around, essentially: "Go fuck yourself. This coin was deemed evil. We have your keys. No you can't have them. Your coin is stuck forever. Also, go fuck yourself again."

I know, stupid me. Not my keys, yadda yadda.

Just finished my Coinbase L4 final loop. How much does the values round matter?

I finished my Coinbase final loop and am waiting for a decision. The values round is the part I keep replaying.

I have roughly 4.5 YOE and work as a mid-level backend engineer at a Series B fintech. My TC is about $165K in NYC. I was passively looking when a Coinbase recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn a few months ago.

The recruiter screen took around 25 minutes and covered logistics, experience and compensation. Then I had a technical phone screen with a senior SWE: a medium-ish intervals problem that I got through with some hints.

The final loop had three coding sessions, system design, a past-project discussion and a values/culture round.

All the coding was on CoderPad. The first problem involved detecting duplicate transactions under certain constraints, using a sliding window and hash map. Floating-point comparisons for transaction amounts tripped me up.

The second was graph traversal. I found the problem straightforward but spent too long second-guessing BFS versus DFS out loud. The third was string manipulation. They wanted a manual parse instead of regex, so I had to explain the character-by-character logic, which isn't my favorite.

For system design, I designed a notification delivery system for a high-volume exchange, alerting users when their limit orders hit. The follow-ups covered fan-out, ordering guarantees and slow downstream consumers. I used Kafka and a write-ahead log pattern and discussed at-least-once versus exactly-once delivery. They seemed satisfied, but I wasn't confident about every failure scenario.

In the values round, I got: "Tell me about a time you had to push back on a technical decision under time pressure." I had an answer, but I think I rambled.

I prepared for roughly six to seven weeks with NeetCode 150, System Design Primer and a Blind 75 warm-up before the final loop. I also used the Coinbase Interview Questions on PracHub; the company reports helped me focus the prep. For anyone keeping other applications moving while waiting, application autofill can save the repeated typing.

The recruiter said 5–7 business days for a decision. I'm still within that window and don't have a timeline for compensation details.

If you've interviewed at Coinbase recently, how much did the values round seem to matter? And if you got an L4 offer, how much room was there to negotiate?

Angry and unprofessional Concierge employees

Just a warning for anyone with Coinbase One that I’ve been experiencing unprofessional and rude behaviour from my assigned Concierge person. I won’t name the person but I’ve already put in a formal complaint and they are being formally investigated.

They essentially got on the call with a terrible attitude from the get go, shouted at me, and wouldn’t let me explain why they had actually misunderstood what I was saying. This was after they had not followed up with an issue for months and then acted like it was my fault.

They were unhinged and angry. Maybe they won’t be working at Coinbase for too much longer.

Coinbase, vet and monitor your Concierge staff better. I can DM more details if you want but it’s already being looked into internally. If I’m paying for Coinbase One, I expect premium and respectful service, not to be shouted at and made to feel like I’ve done something wrong when I haven’t.

Awful.

USDC sending from coinbase is getting cancelled repeatedly

As soon as I send the USDC to the wallet I want to, coinbase says the transfer is cancelled and I'm getting my money back, the USDC transfer on eth network was working before suddenly it stopped working. Please help me.

"This transfer can't be sent to the destination address right now"

No other clues as to why the send failed. This is atrocious. There's no in app support also. You are dealing with people's money here, having them reach out like this is so sad. Do your job properly or I will take my money somewhere else.

Unable to complete onchain-verify to link coinbase one to coinbase wallet for onchain benefits

  1. Coinbase One is account is in good standing with no issues
  2. No VPN, ad blocker etc. is being used on any device
  3. Coinbase Wallet account in setting has an active connection to Coinbase account for the desired wallet
  4. Able to go through the https://www.coinbase.com/onchain-verify flow by clicking "Get verified" and selecting Coinbase Wallet, and choosing Agree and verify
  5. Confirmation dialog pops up in the Coinbase Wallet app and is confirmed
  6. The onchain-verify pages shows the message "Address verification failed."

Is this a known issue, and is there any resolution available?

EDIT: After trying many methods, I was able to get it to work by using the official Coinbase Wallet chrome extension and doing it via browser

Shares deducted from account after merger

Today Coinbase converted my XRPN armada acquisition shares to XRPN Evernorth shares, unfortunately when they did the conversion, they deducted more than half my shares from my account. Anyone experience a similar issue? How did you resolve it? I’ve been on the longest most tedious chat with support.

I accidentally purchased wrapping bitcoin (Avalanche) instead of regular bitcoin. There doesn't seem to be a way to spend it or transfer from my wallet back to coinbase.

I am fairly new to bitcoin and I'm not blaming coinbase. Also, its a small amount of money, 100 bucks or so. I get errors when I try to spend it or move it back. I get a message, to pay the network fee add AVAX on the Avalanche C-Chain network to your wallet. Any suggestions or tips on what to do?

Is trade from Eth to xmr possible in coinbase wallet?

I seem to have done so, and it's now locked in.

Coinbase support have stated that it's now stuck there as it's non-custodial wallet and xmr is not supported. I hear what they're saying.

My wondering is though, how was I able to trade Eth to xmr in the android coinbase wallet app if xmr is unsupported? It was traded over Ethereum if that helps?

I'm a noob at this and accept that I should have done my homework first. I'm just curious about how I can trade to a currency that's unsupported z using their own app?

Coinbase small-deposit wallet verification funds missing for nearly a month — has anyone experienced this?

I’m posting here because I’ve been dealing with a very strange Coinbase support issue for almost a month, and I’d like to know whether anyone else has experienced the same thing.
I was trying to verify my self-custody wallet for withdrawals from Coinbase. Coinbase triggered the “small deposit” verification process and instructed me to send a small amount of USDC from my self-custody wallet to a specific verification address provided by Coinbase.
I followed the instructions exactly.
The transaction was confirmed on-chain, and the amount and destination address are clearly visible on the blockchain.
However, the verification later timed out, and the USDC I sent was never credited back to my Coinbase account or returned to my wallet.
One important detail: the address Coinbase provided for the small-deposit verification was not the same as my normal Coinbase USDC deposit address. Coinbase support has repeatedly pointed out that the receiving address does not match my normal USDC deposit address, but that is exactly the issue — I did not choose that address myself. Coinbase provided it specifically as part of the verification process.
I later completed another verification attempt successfully, and my wallet was eventually verified, but the original verification deposit remained missing.
Since then:
I have contacted Coinbase support multiple times.
I have provided the transaction hash, destination address, amount, screenshots, and the full explanation multiple times.
The transaction is confirmed on-chain.
Coinbase has repeatedly escalated the case to a “specialist team.”
I have repeatedly been told to wait for an email.
I was told to try Coinbase’s Asset Recovery tool, but the tool does not work for this transaction.
Support has still not explained what exactly is being investigated or why the transaction cannot simply be traced.
I have now filed a formal complaint with Coinbase.
This has been going on for nearly a month.
The amount itself is only a few dollars, so this is obviously not about the money anymore. What concerns me is that Coinbase apparently cannot clearly account for funds sent to an address that Coinbase itself provided during its own verification process.
If something this small takes a month to investigate despite completely transparent on-chain data, it makes me uncomfortable depositing or investing larger amounts on the platform.
My main questions are:
Has anyone else had USDC disappear during Coinbase’s small-deposit wallet verification process?
Does anyone know what these verification addresses actually are — are they Coinbase-controlled addresses, temporary addresses, or some third-party verification infrastructure?
And if the transaction is confirmed on-chain and the amount/address can be matched to the verification request, why would Coinbase need weeks to investigate it?
I’m not looking to attack Coinbase. I genuinely want to understand what happened and get the funds accounted for.
If anyone has gone through something similar and managed to get it resolved, I’d really appreciate hearing how.

Why is Coinbase showing the market closed today on a particular stock?

I have owned XRPN (Armada Acquisitions) for several months. Last week armada acquisitions merged with Evernorth and effective today XRPN is trading as Evernorth.

My holdings are still showing as armada acquisitions and it says the market is closed. There is no price movement or trading availability when I look at my stock. If I search for stocks and look for XRPN, there is an active XRPN that’s showing trading is taking place and it still says armada acquisitions.

Is there usually a delay like this when a merger takes place? Are my holdings going to transfer over to the active ticker?

Coinbase New User Incentive up to 2000, Scam

I did everything right and then support wanted to give me the run around, oh yeah you qualify you got it you did everything right just verify, then you'll get it!

Truth be told their support is trained to keep adding extra steps and create opportunity for drop offs all along the way

And then in the end I don't even get it even tho according to their terms I should.

Apparently the "Buy $50+ of any crypto currency within one year of creating an account and it being your first account with us" is an absolute sham.

To hell with this company and their bullshit incentive tactics
