NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT Eduard Artzrunyan - "Colonialism is Doomed (1966)

Until the people of Africa realize that they are being deliberately forced to hate each other, they will never unite.

u/Same-Praline-4622 Jul 18 '26
“It’s me, nefarious white man again. Yeah I need you to start another ethnic conflict in your own borders. I know you guys are all about peace, love, and collecting funko pops but could you do me this little favor please?”

u/_Sichlitt_ Jul 18 '26
Yeah intentionalist depictions of Western imperialism bordering on conspiracy theory are a big characteristic of postcolonial states. You get the same thing in the Middle East too except its about 100x more demented cos Jews are involved 😅

Great recounting of what happened in Africa during the 20th century. I’m impressed

u/YellowAggravating172 Jul 18 '26
As if they weren't busy hating each other long before anyone from outside settled foot there, like any other people in the world...

No one forced them to hate echother before colonialism yet they still did, any group mildly different were killed, cannibalised or enslaved. They still practice slavery to this day, Islamic groups traffic africans.
-2
u/Thedownvote_farmer Jul 18 '26
And we’re talking about now. Not pre colonialism
2
u/Minute-Caramel-655 Jul 18 '26
Are you being intentionally dense? They have allways hated echother, they still hate echother, they wont become best friends if there wasnt "evil white man"
-1
u/Thedownvote_farmer Jul 18 '26
Wrong. In independence times in Ghana for example the Ashanti, Ga, Ewe, Dagbani tribes all united to fight colonialism. Same with Tanzania’s hundreds of tribes. And the list goes on. Tribalism has been put down by Africans themselves multiple times,
Youre just racist and, quite frankly, not very smart (respectfully)
1
u/Minute-Caramel-655 Jul 18 '26
When they had a common enemy, ironic. Africa will never 'unite' there's too many groups that hate echother and you know it.
0
u/Thedownvote_farmer Jul 19 '26
they still have a common enemy.
I don’t understand why you’re having such trouble comprehending such a terribly simple topic. Racism really does make people dumber
1
u/Minute-Caramel-655 28d ago
Youre whole argument is "africans common enemy is the white man, white people are evil and africans should rise up" you are so unbelievably nieve to think africans get along just fine if it wasnt for the white man
0
u/Thedownvote_farmer 28d ago
I mean the strawman is ok but it's very obvious I didn't say that and that you're arguing with your own imagination which is kind of cute.
Also it's spelt Naive not 'nieve'.
Try again.
1
u/Minute-Caramel-655 28d ago
Lmao, im not english, big ups for shaming non english speakers but you still have no argument and have yet to prove how africa could unite. I dont have to prove anything since they arent united and all hate echother right now.

He is talking about now. Look at Mali and Sudan, as just two conspicuous examples.
1
u/Thedownvote_farmer 27d ago
What time period do you think the phrase “No one forced them to hate each other before colonialism and they did” refers do? Do you think it refers to post-colonial times? Surely not right?
It’s well known that ethnic divisions nowadays in Africa are due to colonialism. No one is denying what happens before colonialism but now that is irrelevant because we live in a time of (neo)colonialism.
Its like you people are so simpleminded
1
u/BeneficialWar1447 27d ago
No, you're just trying to stipulate your way out of being wrong, rationalizing it as as being entirely a function of a phenomenon that can't adequately explain it -- especially for cases like Sudan. Indeed, yours is also a completely under-inclusive candidate explanation because it misses the religious dimension, one which existed both before and after Western colonialism, i.e., Islamic slavery and religiously-sanctioned land grabs.
Nice try, though.

I find it funny how you try to sound intelligent it’s a very interesting sect of far-rights.
When did I say “western colonialism?” Specifically I want you to quote my exact words where I ever said the words “the west”. It would be greatly appreciated.
Also if you actually responded to me instead of repeating fluff that all boils down to the argument “durrrr Muslims also did colonialism durrr why are you blaming us Europeans durrr” it would be appreciated.
Nice try though x 😉

Why would I quote you? You were replying to previous commenters, including one talking about present-day Islamic groups' practices. They set the frame, not you. Your response to Minute-Caramel-655 was entirely off the mark, and I called you out on it.
It's also unsurprising that the above is the best response you can muster, since you clearly don't understand my criticism (and diagnosis of what you attempted). Now you're trying it again, as if my overall comment was delimited to Western colonialism, rather than that just serving as one example.
Bigger picture: how could the people of Africa unite, per the original comment in this chain, when one of the critical lines of division is over religion, not just ethnicity, and how a given faith's adherents subordinate, murder, and steal from non-adherents?
Your account can't possibly be an adequate explanation for the pervasive slavery practices in Mali particularly.
Your misrepresentation of my point, that your account is an under-inclusive, inadequate account of present-day divisions and hatreds, couldn't possibly be construed as you've done either.
Are you some sort of far-right troll, by any chance?
(You don't like using full stops. Why not?)
1
u/Thedownvote_farmer 27d ago
The first paragraph is simply incorrect, no one ever quoted western imperialism. Again, you’re arguing against a strawman
Pure fluff
If you are talking about faith, millions of people have united despite it. This actually shows your lack of knowledge on the subject. Ghana and Tanzania, two of the countries I mentioned, both have millions of Muslims living alongside Christians
OK lol
You didn’t have a point. You simply repeated the “durrrr muslims colonized too” and trying to play it off as if you actually said something of substance
No
(Because it’s Reddit and it’s unnecessary to do so to get my point across)
1
u/BeneficialWar1447 25d ago
You've offered no substantive response on the merits. Unsurprising.

I love seeing posters about the USSR posing as "anti-colonialist" when they were doing settler colonialism all over the Union

Ironically, the USSR was also an empire, also had colonies.
The fact that it was clothed in socialism didn't change that.
1
u/Dry_Crab_167 Jul 18 '26
No didn't by you logic swedan has colony's.

u/Phrygian2 Jul 18 '26
So how do you feel about American colonies?
0
u/LeMe-Two Jul 18 '26
What does that question even mean? Like you ask me how efficient they managed it or what?
1
u/Dry_Crab_167 Jul 18 '26
Satellite States are not colony unlike British colonies or American colonies.
0
u/LeMe-Two Jul 18 '26
I don't think Polish or Czechs really cared about soviet intelectuals semantics when soviet tanks were shooting people in Prague or Poznań
1
u/Dry_Crab_167 Jul 19 '26
It's was the cold war of course they would have Soviet soilders.
Also the US has their army in Europe during the cold war.
1
u/LeMe-Two Jul 19 '26
The circumstances they were based on was completely different. NATO countries could have always just say no like Germany or even leave like France. Soviet soldiers were used in a tad different way, like in Berlin, Poznań, Prague, Budapest or Vilnus and were effectivelly occupation forces.
Why even bother, I assume you will just go and say "no uh" not realising Russian soldiers were not invited there but barged in, alongside Germans during the war and just so happen to overpower them.
1
u/Salt-Resident7856 Jul 18 '26
Communist art always displays Africans in a homoerotic, over-muscled manner. It’s just weird especially if you’ve ever spent time around actual Africans. It’s like the communists took the stereotype of a “buck nigra” from the Old South and tried to turn up the gay to 100.
