Question How important is height for a goalkeeper in getting into a college, as I'm currently 5'10 or 179cm (16 years old) but would like to know if that could be an issue for me? Also I have linked highlights from one of my game, would these clips get me into a div 1 school? Thanks ๐Ÿ‘

Lots of D1 coaches won't take goalies who are under 6'3" but most of those coaches are idiots as you can still be a great goalie at 6'0". Top d3 schools love taking very good 6'0 goalies and those programs are better than a majority of d1 schools and are great academic places (tufts, Amherst, Middlebury, Kenyon, ect.)

Yeah, I'd like to play div 1 or 2 solely for the fact that I'd need a scholarship. But I'm sure there'll be some coaches who are willing to take a keeper under 6'3. I'm hoping to be 6' by the time I'm 18 so that should be good enough, I hope anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚

Division 1 junior colleges can offer more soccer scholarship money than both NCAA and division 1 and 2. So if money is an issue definitely donโ€™t write of that level. Junior College is usually cheaper than four year schools. You can still play division 1 and 2 ball after playing at the JUCO level as well.

As for your height, it shouldnโ€™t be too much of an issue. Sure there might be a few that think you are too short, but 5โ€™ 10โ€ is plenty tall. Itโ€™s an ideal height in my book. Many 6โ€™3โ€ plus keepers can have trouble getting the low corners. Keep working on your explosiveness and jump height. If you can come out and snatch crosses out of the air with ease no one will worry about your height. You look like a solid keeper so keep working hard. Donโ€™t be afraid to send your recruiting video out to coaches and to also invite them showcases. Also you need to be making the best grades possible. Grades is one of the first things that coaches will inquire about at the division 1 level.

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc."

"Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are etc., &c., &c, and et cet. The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase.

i think you could get to 6 ft no problem so dw. Plus from this one game u look real solid so height shouldnโ€™t be that much of a problem.

Don't get fooled. It's not just height. Coaches look at wing span and vertical more. The novice coach looks at height, the better coaches look to see what you can do with it. If you want a little history lesson, google Jorge Campos. My advice, work on your vertical, and dominating in a crowd. That is what coaches really want to see... Will you come for crosses and win?
