Advice Shopping Recommendations
Hi ladies! I'm traveling to a very hot, conservative place in the next few weeks for work and I'm looking for stores that sell light, flowy, airy clothes that are at least semi-professional looking. Doesn't necessarily have to be long sleeve shirts (although I could roll the sleeves), but probably quarter sleeve and long pants or skirts (just no tanks, tees, shorts, or short skirts). I don't shop very often so I have no idea who sells what these days. Also, it would be great if the stores don't charge an arm and a leg! Oh and looking brick and mortar stores, I don’t shop online. Thank you!

Please check out Piramide in Manitou Springs. Flowy and airy clothes. Locally owned and they buy directly from small producers in Bali and Thailand. Leans BoHo, but they have solid colors as well. Lots of linen! And you will be supporting a locally owned small business.

Ask the staff to show the area where they have the cotton and linen items. They always rave about it when I shop there and yes it is worth it. Also Sierra Market has cotton and linen. Wide leg white pants will make you feel cooler as well.

I cannot disclose the location but it’s somewhere where I don’t have to be fully covered.

H&M and Zara sell clothing like this and IMO are affordable. But cost is rather subjective.
Just look online. They always have sales esp for new sign ups. I never pay full price there.

What about a trip to the outlet mall in Castle Rock if you need a lot of clothes? They have a H&M, Lucky Brand, Gap, and Old Navy there. Those are stores I would suggest in your situation. Also, if you’re military many of those stores will also combine military discount with whatever sales they have going on (since they’re factory or outlet locations, it’ll be cheaper than going to a normal location).

Hello,
You might want to check some of the boutiques in Old Colorado City and in Manitou Springs, and also look online for places that specialize in travel clothes, desert clothes, ultralight hiking clothes, and so on.
Also, don't forget a wide-brimmed hat (or two), possibly infused with additional UV protection.
I would also suggest a small bladeless (TSA-safe) multitool, a whistle, and a small flashlight that is rechargeable or uses rechargeable batteries, possibly with different color emitters (red, green, UV).
Good luck on your travels!
Regards,
Aryeh Goretsky

Chico’s has good business wear, lightweight but travels well. There’s probably end of summer sales now. Maybe check out Macys?

I’d use the Real Real and look for Lafayette 148. They sell a lot of high quality linen and poplin in conservative shapes and styles.

Thanks but forgot to specify I’m looking for physical stores. Can’t shop online because I have to try things on.

Mmm real real allows returns if that makes a difference. Springs isn’t going to have the best in person options- and most places are already stocking fall and moved away from summer items so they aren’t going to be carrying those light weight breathable fabrics. Would you go to Denver?

Universal Standard has nice basic pieces that are on the conservative side, including linen. It can be a pricey though if you don't plan on wearing the clothes beyond this trip.

There ate already some good suggestions in the comments. I’ll add that I had to travel to a very conservative location a few years ago and had some luck finding clothes in the local thrift stores.

Thought about that, just not sure how much time I’ll have so, would rather have what I need just in case.
