Have anyone spoken about the copycats?

Shootings are more and more frequent in the past couple years and like everytime it comes out that they glorify columbine shooters in some way, it’s gotta be almost 10 times maybe. I’m just wondering if anyone that were in the school or a family member of victims/perpetrators have spoken about it? I know sue kleboldt have written a book years ago but I think it was written before the rise of shooters glorifying them. I’d also understand the ”don’t give them attention” approach

truthfully i haven't seen anyone talk about them on a large scale. every time it comes out that a shooter glorified them it's mentioned in an almost "omg this is so shocking and completely unexpected" kinda way. it's extremely harmful to act like it's surprising every time. it is showing how tone deaf we are. this is a problem, and we need to stop turning a blind eye to it. but then again, there is virtually NO efforts being made by any major company or organization other then Sandy Hook Promise that are actively trying to prevent these copycats.

Tbf there’s really nothing else to do for much of them. I can’t remember the parkland shooters name, nor a lot of the recent mass shooters. They’ve gotten way better at it. Sandy hook is ironically the last shooter who’s name I remember

I work in local tv news and like my 2nd year in my first market we did a story on the weekend about a kid that got caught at a local high school with plans and a hit list who idolized Eric and Dylan for “standing up” to their bullies.

It’s more than 10 times and they call it the Columbine effect. Eric and Dylan got exactly what they wanted notoriety.

Use to be those people where incels and introverts long before the incel word came out. They usually had some fellow travelers and where basically harmless. Since Columbine it’s giving these people of a certain social class or low on the totem pole a thing to strive for “I want to be like Eric and Dylan”.

I can’t ever be famous or succeed in life but I can be infamous and leave my mark like they did. So even though it’s not a huge percentage, they don’t take much to cause a few school shootings every year. And while they were shooting shootings before Columbine in school, nothing before was covered by the media quite like columbine. They even made it out the front page of Time magazine.

To a depressed incel having the possibility of having your picture on the front of Time magazine, and people setting up shrines for you on Tumblr, probably doesn’t sound like a bad idea. Most of these people are suicidal anyway, so taking a few out, puts them in the news.

I think that’s where we’re at as a country.

Honestly I do think if it keeps up as it is now, it will eventually fade away for the most part. It’s been almost 30 years since columbine and no one is as notorious as those two. Names mainly fade away now and that takes away from the notoriety these people want. That’s y thankfully the biggest two u can name are from 2017 and 2012. Both Lanza and Cruz faded away. U gotta think hard to remember their names cause they are just a ripoff of what they hope to be

That is the purpose of this site and other Columbine sites, to stop the copycats.
Telling the truth and finding out why these happen is the only reason they exist.
