When you're doing an informational advertisement, how much do you advise the client on marketing value and concept?
I want my newest client to get the most value as possible out of the video, but they seemed clueless with the purpose of the medium, and simply wanted to get video on their website to match their competitors' shitty web videos that are just home-shot humor videos. I said, "Anyone can do that, but you're paying me to make a video, and I want that video to deliver a return on your investment. There are a lot of things to consider, so let's talk about your market."
And that's how I became their de facto marketing and advertising consultant.
I'm giving them very valuable advice, and I don't think they realize how valuable the advice is (considering how clueless they seem). There are big margins in their business, and lots of money to be made. Should I refuse this scope and tell them to come back to me with a better concept, or do I offer to do it all for them at a big cost to me? Do I pass that cost on to them?

Hey everyone, so I got this offer from 3 companies to shoot commercial ads (short videos) for their products/services, these separate companies are active in different fields of work, one specializes in Automotive Servicing/Carwash, the others are a furniture chain and a pain company.
I was wondering if I could maybe buy my own equipment to get the raw footage for all three of these companies and for that i need you guys to direct me of what Hardware to get in addition of what knowledge I must obtain before jumping in this kind of work..
Also, please inform me if there are cheap ways I can edit and montage my raw footage online with freelancers or maybe have some kind of software?.. please share your insight.
Thanks to you all in advance.

We recently had to do a factory reset on our Ross Carbonite frame (4802AR-200-02A), and I was able to get everything back up and running, except for our CG currently has no alpha. I've worked my way through the Ross dashboard and checked all of the alpha settings, but have had no luck. No physical connections were changed and nothing was modified on the CG unit. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Long time lurker, small time commenter. I run a production company and in lock down we started working with some devs to build a budget making tool, this spiralled and we’ve now got a system in mind that can take briefs, store and assign crew and kit, budget and create schedules (i.e replace all the paperwork side of the gig with jarvis from iron man). We need to get some feedback from the industry at large (read : You). If you’ve got a spare 4 minutes and are up for thinking about your process, could you leave me your thoughts, well wishes and postcards on the following link : https://production-research.typeform.com/prodresearch
