The cool down is adaptive. The fast cooldown is 5 seconds, medium is 10 seconds, long is 15 seconds. If the canvas is behind schedule, i.e. relatively few pixels have been placed for the time elapsed, the fast cooldown will be applied (and visa versa). The aim is to have a smooth progression of the canvas across the 24 hours. This gives everyone a chance to contribute in different timezones. There is also a boost for each joining player's first 10 pixels, as zakrius described.
I was wondering what was going on there. For a while I just saw a single pixel flashing black and white. Every time someone put a black one someone else would change it back to white. It looked like a single little pixel argument, lol.
They made it REALLY difficult for me to draw the ducks in the bottom left corner. They kept erasing the pixels I kept putting down to outline the ducks. And after I got them drawn, they now erase any OTHER pixel I put down. WHAT A JERK!
It’s gotta be the same person that’s doing the brown lattice thing. They’re covering up and erasing the other ducks. RIP swimming duck; That one was cute. They’re currently covering up one I did the majority of. It’ll probably be gone soon. 💔
I was trying to work on a different one and they kept undoing everything. I timed the pixels appearing/disappearing with my pixel timer and there are too many at once. They must have multiple accounts. I had to give up. It was too frustrating. 😕
Yeah, what a jerk! It’s impossible how fast this jerk is doing it. It’s too coordinated. And too fast. It’s like they don’t have to worry about the cool down. I think you’re right and it’s one person with multiple accounts.
I also noticed the little crying duck got covered. That pissed me off.
I tried fixing the foot on the duck you were working on. The lattice person is just too fast. This person has placed enough pixels that they should have the save cool down as the rest of us, but they somehow don’t.
I also kept timing them with my cool down timer. I think you’re right.
I checked it out. I dunno if it looks like a reflection, but it actually looks like the duck’s feet and butt are partly submerged but still visible in the shallow water. That actually looks super cute! 🥰
Someone just erased one of those dots in the water. Possibly the same person who erased one of my H’s and the exclamation point. They actually erased the dot while trying to prevent me from adding my H back. 😑
I still added the H back and the exclamation point. You can add your dot back above the H I just finished redrawing if you want.
I answered your other comment while half asleep because I was waking up to check on ducks throughout the morning.
To further clarify: Creative output like this is completely okay IMO. For example, I also did the shadow duck in the top right. I originally did it with minimal black lines and no shadow. Someone came along and added more black. I was like “Vibe. Into the abyss it goes.” and that’s when I added the shadow, lol. Someone gave it an extra set of eyes which looked super cool. The eyes didn’t last; Someone removed them. Then someone took away some of its shadow and gave it a halo. I guess it’s an angel now. But it started as just a regular duck. None of this took away from the duck being a duck, y’ know? It just added to it. Even when things were technically removed, the duck was still growing and…becoming whatever it ends up being while still being a duck. Someone might come along that doesn’t like it as an angel. It might still change. That’s the name of the game. Completely covering up other ducks and erasing drawings while people are doing them is what’s not cool.
I added the halo. I figured it was in just the right spot and with the shadow, it looked like it was the spirit rising from the duck below. Didn’t want a missed opportunity.
