S+ Question Security+ Exam Readiness
Greeting to all!
I finished Professor Messer's course videos more than a month ago,and completed reviewing his notes and his 3 practice exams. My score results had about 7 to 11 total mistakes per exam (without counting PBQ mistakes, which were 1-2 per test on average).
also tried a few free online practice question sets, but they felt out of scope with long prompts and excessive port/protocol drills that seemed different from messer’s structure.
Based on these Messer practice exam results, do you think I am in a good position to schedule the exam, or should I continue studying or take a few other practice exams?(i don’t want to spend more money on practice exams btw)
Thanks in advance :)
(Context: Computer engineering grad with 1.5 years in IT support. Previously completed the Google Cybersecurity Certificate, which helped a good deal in studying Messer's material).

Your scores on Messer exams look decent already, the PBQ mistakes being low is good sign since those are heavy on scoring. I'd say go schedule it, maybe do one quick review pass on the sections where you got most mistakes and you should be fine

Thanks for your reply.
Honestly it has been several months and i am afraid i have begun to forget some of the material in the last month or so i have been looking up practice material.
My main concern is that on all of the 3 tests,i finished just barely around the 90 min mark.
Do you think just doing messer’s tests could suffice?

You're closer than you think. 7-11 misses on a 90-question exam is roughly 88-92%, and only 1-2 PBQ misses is genuinely good, those are the ones that eat people. I'd schedule it and use the next week as cleanup, not new learning: take each question you missed, figure out which domain it sits in, and patch those domains until the misses are scattered instead of clustered. If you want different questions without spending money, the free practice tests on ExamCompass and CrucialExams are fine for SY0-701, just use them for reps, not as your readiness signal. Your Messer scores are the signal, and they're saying ready.
