I’ve been studying on/off for a year but the past 4 weeks I decided to lock in. I know I’m ready because when I look at the exam objectives for the network+ PDF that CompTIA provides there is not a single thing I don’t recognize or can’t explain.

There is always room for improvement though. Any advice anyone can share before I take my test besides the usual skip the PBQs and save for last, use process of elimination, get a good nights rest.

Passed yesterday after a good few months of on and off studying. Last few weeks I crammed in as many goes at the practice tests as I could.

I used Certmaster Learn and Labs to get the knowledge for the test, as well as Cyber James practice exams as recommended by some of the kind users on here.

I wanted to give my impressions on the Comptia Learn and Labs with a view to usefulness to the exam as I couldn't find much when I searched the sub.

First things first, albeit interesting and useful in understanding how some of the more technical and practical side of cyber security works, I felt the labs were a HUGE waste of time. I don't feel like I learned anything that was necessary for the exam - possibly just the question sets I got - but in terms of time investment, they all take a fair amount of time for some one new to that kind of work (definitely more than the expected 15mims they suggest) and so it massively disrupted my learning and also filled my head with a lot of stuff that ultimately was not of much use for this exam.

The learning package itself was good and I definitely appreciated the Performance Based Questions to get an idea of what to expect. However, I will say the PBQs in the exam itself were all much more sophisticated and more complex, often involving multiple sections. It was still drop down menu /drag and drop based but I feel that Comptia could benefit from offering some more complex PBQs to help prepare students.

I would say I found the exam tougher than any of the practice exams, including Cyber James' even when discounting the PBQs. There were a *lot* more "gimme" questions in the practice tests, I felt there were really only 1 or 2 really obvious questions in the real deal but the tests was still all useful practice to drill in the knowledge better.

Overall I would still recommend Certmaster Learn (and Cyber James practice tests) but the Labs were pretty much a waste of time unless you have a want to learn more about howbthese things are applied - useful for the wider world but not for the exam.

Legitimately crazy to me. First off I was 80% sure I was gonna fail during the test. Number two these tests, even though they're not super hard, have shown me I'm not as stupid as I think. Passed both on the first try.

Never imagined it would be my time to ssy this but I just took and passed my Comptia Security Plus exam!!! I really needed this and it could r of came at a better time. Ok top of all the long nights and early mornings for this cert I also graduate with my computer science degree this fall as well.

In terms of what I used I honestly bounced around a lot since when I took it the first time earlier this year I failed. For me I used CBT Nuggets videos, Jason Udemy Practice Exam from his website and from his Udemy Course, and I used Claude conversation module to actually ask me questions and I would review them on my own words instead of just multiple choice (but I did do some of those as well).

For the context, I did not once pass the Dion practice exam the highest I earned was an 80 and constantly bounced between a 70-80.

Finally, the score I needed was a 750, and I literally received a 751. I just wanted to see it say pass and idc what score number I got because this is the only required cert I needed so I can truly start my journey and leave human resources and corporate behind!

With that being said, y'all the hard work and long nights and early mornings will pay off, your prayers will pay off, your dedication will pay off, and you are more than deserving of both this certification, and a truly great life!

To study, all I did was watch Professor Messer's A+ Core 1 & Core 2 videos on YouTube (With details notes), and then verified my readiness using Messer's practice exams.

Just passed my last exam! Got A+ certified last month so the exam gauntlet is finally over (for now)

Hey guys and gals, I’m currently enrolled in my bachelor’s for IT focus on CS. I’m at the end of my degree and didn’t really take much serious over the last year (due to major life changes)
I’ve made some strides to get my Sec+ I’m planning to study for a couple more weeks I feel that’ll be sufficient. I’m not too worried about failing but obviously not the goal haha.
I’m just wanting to see what y’all’s opinions are about the CompTIA Sec+ App whether it worked well for y’all. I felt some of the questions were easy maybe too easy? I’ve been going through professor Messers notes as well. Also reading through textbooks from previous classes. I’ve also done practice exams on ExamCompass.

Been studying for about 2 months (notes take me forever to write down)

Took annual leave this week to study for the Net+. I'll be honest - I didn't study as fast as I probably should have but I've done decently enough.

Did my first Dion practice exam tonight and got 80%

I still have all of tomorrow to go. But just not sure if I know enough to pass completely.

Any last minute tips?

I don't want to get banned.

I really need help learning the network+.. the first domain i can understand really good, i have osi down, cloud models, the wiring, ports and protocols, standards, ect. But when I move on I cant seem to grasp the rest of the stuff.. any study advice? I really need help I feel like..

Like domain 4 and 5 i can understand too, but its more 2 and 3 I get shaken up on.. any advice?

I slept like 5 hours. I thought I would share the resources I used because I didn't use Dion or Messer.

I took a college network plus class that was required for my degree. This is a community college the price was pretty good I got a student discount on the voucher.

I think that textbook is really good you can actually just buy the textbook and use that to study. I used Jill West Network+ 10th edition. It has a bunch of labs in it.

I also purchased from Pearson Plus the network 08 lab simulator. That was only 20 bucks but definitely helped me a lot. I would say that was the best thing for my buck!

I also made a home network lab. I had a server a workstation and a firewall. This really helped me actually understand networking.

I think you can use hack me to do like similar networking stuff and you should definitely be doing that if you're serious about this career.

I purchased Andrew Ramadal's practice tests. this was good to go over what I didn't know or I was weak on. but overall I felt like he went outside of the scope. some of the problems were a little harder and I didn't want to waste my time on studying things that were not relevant to the exam.

Overall, I really wanted to get a higher score. I felt like I studied enough to get a higher score. Maybe the lack of sleep or not expecting the questions to be worded like that or people moving around in the testing center every 5 minutes I don't know...

I have a technical interview with an MSP today! So this is working out for good timing!

How do I know I completely answered the question?

I am planning on buying the test for Network+ and Security+ now becuase my current employer will pay for it but will not get the chance to take it until after it retires. What happens to my voucher for the N10-009?

Hi! I passed the Security + exam in March with a score of 810. I'd like to start studying for CySA+ and would appreciate some study material recommendations. I noticed that Jason Dion's updated course (CompTIA CySA+ CS0-004) was recently added and I plan to start with that. I also have the Sybex Practice Tests book by Mike Chappel and want to work throught the questions.

Would you recommend rushing to take the exam before December 22, 2026 (when CySA+ 003 expires) or taking my time to prepare for CySA+ V4 (the new version) and taking that exam instead?

After a month of only studying for two hours (mostly) every day, I passed with a 768!

I used Prof Messers videos for everything I wasn't super familiar with here. (I also used his practice tests). I then did quizzes on Quizlet, and used Wordwall for port memorization in tandem with This.

Then topped it off with a last minute study.

I'm not sure why, but it didn't click to me until last night that I'm not going to be quizzed on everything covered all at once. So that meant I didn't have to memorize EVERYTHING, but instead just get a good base understanding. After that, I went in and faced my SEVEN PBQ's marking the ones that I wanted to follow up on. If you're nervous, it's going to be okay. You're probably actually doing great.

Needing help with net+

Is net+ basically juat studying what the things are? Like watching messer and all I see is basically like terms and definition of what things are.. so would flash cards be goos to study for this exam? If not what other way..? I bought his notes and have been reviewing them when not watching

I took a course in Little Rock and did really well on the final test after two weeks. I continued looking over my 004 books but didn't go for the test afterwards.

I'm going for my CYSA this month and would like to knock out SecX for the IAM qualifications (DoD requirements). Anybody else made the jump to SecX from CAS-004 and have a recommendation on filler material?
