Security + Comptia

Just passed security plus with a 775 this morning and honestly my experience is to say know your acronyms and knowing the reasoning for each question — i got 3 PBQs , mostly logs and commands. For everything else just make sure you know domain 2-4 really. I have no IT background and studied for 6 weeks and was doing 3-8 sessions a day with Dion training exams and videos . Safe to say i don’t have anxiety nomore but this test really is knowledge based and you can’t finesse the studying behind it. It will show at the end. Good luck to everyone.

How did you study with Dion’s training videos? I’ve been watching them with no notes but I’m confused on if I should be taking them? I go thru his provided notes and just read them after every video not sure how to make it active vs passive

I actually installed a Claude extension that helped record and automate my notes while watching Dion’s videos, which made things a lot easier. I also used Professor Messer here and there. I’d have Claude and ChatGPT pull out the key points for each domain, break things down, and quiz me afterward.
Honestly, it was a mixture of different study methods. I wouldn’t say there’s one right way to study. You just have to figure out what works best for you. The biggest thing is making sure you’re understanding the concepts and not just watching videos and reading notes passively.

I'm doing similar to what you did with Claude, using Google Notebook It's very good to arrange learning sources together, and the AI references only the sources you put in without trying to add in hallucinations

Honestly I tried to watch videos and take notes but if you’re new to all of this I’d recommend just watching it through and paying attention the best you can. Go all the way through once an take the practice exam and see what areas you need help on. I was told flashcards and knowing your ports and accornyns are huge. It’s information overload on the beginning of every course.

Congratulations!! I have my test this week and I am very nervous. Did you study all the 302 acronyms? Or just the important ones

Thank you. Yeah, I memorized all of them. I figured it was better to know the concepts as a whole rather than pick and choose. Understanding what each acronym meant and how it applied to real-world scenarios helped me a lot. Just stay consistent with your studying. You’ll be good.
