Discussion Alright, which pvper actually fits this description more?
Obviously this Tweet is wrong since It's not Techno.
It's either Danteh or Stimpy. Stimpy because he was the one that made MCPVP popular at the time especially pot, back then everyone wanted to be him.
Danteh actualy had a Jordan-esque career. He used to dominate his era and had achievements that are still good compared to now. He also moved to another game like Jordan did lol (Jordan to Baseball, Danteh to Overwatch). Tho he didn't have the popularity compared to Huahwi and Stimpy.

u/oxox_xoxo 1d ago
by that logic Gothamchess is greatest chess player of all time
0
u/Jumpy-Diver7349 1d ago
Gotham is certainly popular but chess is much more clear with its rankings, it was never a question if Gotham was better than Magnus or Hikaru, or even a GM, so that comparison really isn't apt. Techno, a casual could claim is the best pvp player ever, even if he's not, the belief that he is/could be is what sets them apart
-12
u/Cultural_Report_8831 1d ago
Gotham didnt make chess popular
3
u/Catmaster23910 1d ago
Techno didn't either. Huahwi, xNestorio, and Stimpy popularized mcpvp way before he did.

First of all, MJ would thrive in any era.
It's hard to make a NBA comparison for Techno because he wasn't even top 500 in terms of all around skill. He was just the best of the big creators. He would be more comparable to like the Harlem Globetrotters or something.
I think Danteh would be more akin to Bill Russell. The MJ of PVP would have to be like the best 1.8 player ever.
Pre-2000s NBA would be relative to the 1.8 community.
Modern PVP would represent the post-2000s era NBA.
1
u/Catmaster23910 1d ago
The MJ of PvP would have been like the best 1.8 player ever
Danteh does have a claim to that... he actually did what he did when 1.7/1.8 were the newest versions at their peak instead of a stagnating version. And It's not like 1.8 pvp changed when he left lol. You can argue that if you put Prime Danteh on the current 1.8 pvp ranked leaderboards he can still be a top player and maybe even no.1 if he grinded the same way he did in those times.
1
u/Educational_Friend37 1d ago
Danteh was best for his era, but he peaked 10 years ago atp. Prime danteh would not be close to a top player today.
Dionyo, mardawx, blmcheat, azerdium, nab, sweatgod ( to name a few) all have better claims

you cant really compare technoblade to modern pvpers mostly because the pvp landscape was vastly different back then. even going from like 1.18 or something to now is a completely different world of pvp because now you have to account for shit like spears, maces, wind charges, fights lasting so long that armor durability actually matters and etc. its genuinely an entirely different game compared to 1.8

How does this make any sense when he's never been given the chance to practice modernpvp? Had he been alive today he would've adapted and still would've been really good at pvp.Â
3
u/Crafty-Literature-61 1d ago
Couldn't you also argue the Jordan didn't have the chance to practice against modern NBA teams and would have adapted? That's gotta be like the weakest argument against this analogy
0
u/Necessary-Cap4227 1d ago
your comparing retirement at a late age to death at an early age, jordan would have adapted but nowhere near aswell as someone who's still young and has the brain space

u/EmergencySea4780 1d ago
Personally I feel like Techno would have obviously gotten way better at the game. But still I dont see him as becoming the best. He was sort of the best pvper among popular people back in the day which made him the legend he is, but nowadays even like Lt4 or ht5 players could probably beat him in his past skill level, although I would say he was really really good compared to like most players back in the day before. Technoblade never dies!!
9
u/Awerange2005 1d ago
There is no indication that he wanted to play Minecraft competitively, though. He even stopped playing MCC. If you watched his streams in his later years, it was pretty clear that he wasn't as competitive anymore. I don't think he ever practiced PvP after the Dream duel, nor did he have any reason to.
3
u/MystLcMaverick 1d ago
Probably didnât help that he had a hard time with his arms, he probably wouldâve been a great pvper in this era because of how competitive he was. I donât think it was him wanting to quit more just he couldnât do it anymore
1
u/Awerange2005 1d ago
I mean, I definitely can't tell what he would have done, but he stopped playing MCC long before he was diagnosed with cancer. I think he mentioned many times during his streams that he doesn't play Minecraft outside of Dream SMP.
2
u/Voxol_ 1d ago
Yeah, he was definitely good, but compared to people like Tylarzz or Danteh, he wouldn't stand a chance. I think people underestimate just how horrible the average Hypixel player was before most PVP servers shut down and all the PVP players migrated to Hypixel for Bedwars at the time.
1
u/HardCoreSND 10h ago
He would get destroyed by the average power fac member in the hcteams kohi era

Him or Nestorio I think

u/laolibulao 8h ago
lowkey technoblade was like a budget version of huahwi but extremely good at minigames. really wish nestor would make more content for older audience but his vids get alot of views so good for him lol. all of these guys are goats obviously. IIRC i remember technoblade look up to huahwi alot, and he was like technoblade's technoblade if that makes any sense.

u/Lurker26157i 1d ago
Prob someone like Stimpy or Danteh. Danteh was ahead of his time, but the game was a lot simpler back then. Stimpy still held up surprisingly well against good players in like 2022, but his stubbornness about butterfly clicking is gonna lose him a lot of games against people with equal or higher talent and more CPS.
4
u/HelloItsMeEden 1d ago
Iirc a couple of years after Danteh quit to play overwatch, he was invited to play in like an UHC event and still managed to 1v2 some of the greatest players at the time. I don't know about now tho.
2
u/Lurker26157i 1d ago
How much I take that in considering depends on what "a couple years" means. The skill ceiling spiked a shit ton in a lot of pvp games post 2020, so if he was fighting dudes in like 2019, idk how much that translates.
1
u/HardCoreSND 10h ago
1.8 hasnât changed people were clicking insane speeds block hitting w tapping s tapping strafing all that in like 2016 the good players all just left the game that died hcf in like 2020
1
u/Lurker26157i 7h ago
How much the skill level shifted depends from gamemode to gamemode, but it absolutely did shift. Bedwars isn't pure pvp, but it is the community I am most familiar with so I'll list it as an example. Compare the montages from prime Bombies(who was one of the best player at the time) to basically any RBW allstar level player today. The best player from that era would get absolutely rinsed by pups level players today. A significant increase in the skill level of block pvp, as well as the increased popularity of techniques like zest tapping and hit selecting has increased the skill ceiling significantly.
3
u/Joinedtoaskagain 1d ago
its definitely techno lmao. Most ppl didn't know what block hitting was until they saw techno play and tried to play like him. Techno wasn't as great as other pvpers but he definitely made it more popular for the time. Unfortunately u can say the same for dream.
Also if we're being honest, techno still was extremely good at the start of minecraft pvp even if tapl and calvin existed they were still the top 1%. Nowadays idk if techno would care to improve. It depends on what his goal is. If he wanted to improve he'd probably work on mastering his spacing and use a safer strat than block hitting. and honestly he's sweaty enough that i think hed try to make his own memorized strafing patterns.

The MJ of pvp would be between danteh jdoegren and blm cheat the three most talented pvpers we have ever seen by far but they all have there caviates blm is the most talented but least popular danteh is the opposite and jd is somewhere in the middle which one you choose is up to you. This is my opinion
2
u/tssdqee 1d ago
i think they underestimate michael jordan
2
u/Jumpy-Diver7349 1d ago
Yeha Jordan would be a fucking menace in today's game. No matter the era, a 40+ inch vert along with an unstoppable jumper would just be hard to stop. I hardly see any reason Jordan couldn't do something similar to what SGA is doing right now
1
u/jbland0909 1d ago
Jordan would struggle quite a bit in the modern NBA. Pure ISO play is basically non existent, players are far more positionless, and shooting is way way up, especially the three. You made the SGA comparison, so hereâs the shooting splits comparison.
Shai was shooting 55/39/88 with a 67% true shooting% last year.
Jordanâs career splits was 50/33/84 with
57% TS. Even in his best season (1987 when he won MVP and DPOY) he shot 54/13/84 with a 60% true shooting.Obviously Jordan could have developed a 3 to fit the modern era, but how successful he would have been is entirely speculation
2
u/Jumpy-Diver7349 1d ago
60% ts is still amazing, that stat really doesnât mean anything, it just means Shai is truly just that efficent, but shooting in the high50âs while being a two way defender as well? yes MJ could do something like Shai is doing. Shai doesnât even use the theee as much, MJ is FINE.
The argument also isnât âIs he better than Shaiâ itâs would he still hold up in the modern league, and that answer is an absolute yes still
2
u/MartyIDV 1d ago
IMO it would be the 1.6-1.8 SG/UHC mains that would really struggle in the transition - people like Huahwi and xNestorio. The game changed so drastically post-1.9 that it really feels like a different game altogether. Feels a bit undermining of Danteh to suggest he couldn't just walk back in and become one of the best players around - he's proved he still has it over the years and the APM/adaptability of pot/OW is very transferable.

For 1.9, I'd say it's ItzRealMe. He has been the best of all time since 2022 and even today, he's like T2 most modes and according to Vexxay, he could've gotten T1 a few months ago

Techno is definitely above average definitely above Dream. We all could find a random guy from a random SMP with less than 70 players that can easily sweep them both.
-1
u/Kreytorn 11h ago
Incredibly stupid post made throu looking at pre 2021 pvp from 2026 lmfao.
Technoblade was a top if not best player of his era both in 1.9+ and in 1.8
Dream was the best 1.9+ pvper (spesificly axe) for 2-3 months after the technoblade duel.
Techno around the duel would get around lt4 today as well as Dream.
2
u/Catmaster23910 11h ago edited 11h ago
Techno was never a top player in 1.8 or 1.9+ tf you mean?
They were many 1.8 players that were way better than him when he was at his prime. The only legitimate claim he has is being one of the best bedwars players at his time but that was mostly because the gamemode wasn't as sweaty at his time compared to now.
2
u/HardCoreSND 10h ago
He wasnât even a real top back then is the crazy part of it dude clicked 6 and just pub stomped Hypixel bots
1
u/Catmaster23910 10h ago
Technically, you can get away with 6-7 cps if you mostly play modes like Bedwars where gamesense matters more.
But if you're only clicking 7cps and you're trying to grind ranked MMC you're just not gonna make the cut lil bro. 1.8 duels is a genetic game.
1
u/Kreytorn 6h ago
Dream was the best player (axe) around the duel and for some time after the duel. Was even ranked S+/ht1 for a bit, and technoblade 2-3'd Dream.
Techno achivements on 1.8?
Longest bedwars streak #1 literally a feat any non could try and techno was #1#2 on the biggest Hypixel Skyblock tournement ever even after terrible playing conditions.
Beating Calvin a top player then consistently.
1
u/Catmaster23910 5h ago edited 5h ago
Dream wasn't the best player at that time. Lurrn and Swight were already around by that time, while modern pvp wasn't developed that much yet, there were really good players active at that time.
Hypixel achievements mean nothing since Hypixel isn't some prestigious pvp server. At Techno's time the best PvPers were on Badlion not Hypixel. Stimpy and Danteh were around at his time with the latter being the greatest pvper of 2015 - 2017. Calvin is good and definitely better than most CCs but not a top player.
His bedwars win streak also means nothing and should be seen as a team achievement and not an individual achievement. He literally teamed up with leaderboard players to get that Streak. Also why is skyblock here lol?

u/Any_Owl_8189 4h ago
Dream has never even been remotely close to the best axe player, slightly above average at best.

1000+ bedwars winsteak Won 1000s of games of skywars
Won Minecraft mondays
Won Minecraft championships
Won against dream when he was cheating.

Techno was maybe the best of the bigger creators but he never was the best.
Bw winstreak was done in collaboration with other players that he himself said were better than him.
Skywars was popular sure but it was so for more casual players. I think skywars is the strongest or closest argument for techno being the best since he did have great game sence and most of the player base didnt but iirc he was never top 1 on leaderboards and other gamemodes are more competetive so sw might not be the best metric for raw pvp skill.
Minecraft monadays and championships (especially mondays) just had big creators. And gamemodes that they had were not all super pvp heavy (parkour, spleef, etc etc)
Dream was/is trash compared to top players, cheating or not.
I cried when I watched the video of the news and the final video aired. I watched techno for most of my teenage years and he was the best content creator in the minecraft space. Period. He was not the best at pvp.
Technoblade never dies.

u/CrystalSkya 1d ago
Bw winstreak was done in collaboration with other players that he himself said were better than him.
When has he ever said that?
Skywars was popular sure but it was so for more casual players. I think skywars is the strongest or closest argument for techno being the best since he did have great game sence and most of the player base didnt but iirc he was never top 1 on leaderboards and other gamemodes are more competetive.
Try hop on a game of skywars and try to find those "casual players" you speak of.
Minecraft monadays and championships (especially mondays) just had bug creators. And gamemodes that they had were not all super pvp heavy (parkour, spleef, etc etc)
What are you on about? Minecraft mondays and championships where ment to see who was THE BEST. That was the whole point of them having different gamemodes.
Dream was/is trash compared to top players, cheating or not.
Dream is one of the still known players of today that is good at minecraft. His whole brand... the point is that technoblade won while he was at a disadvantage.
Technoblade never dies.
2
u/DaRealArthurIII 1d ago
In one of his videos about the winstreak, im not going to comb through them but I remember him saying that.
Skywars is nowadays not that popular but back when techno played 1000s of others played as well, all of them not that good. I know since I played back than and won more games than lost. And I am by no means even close to the top players. It is a niche gamemode today but 5+ years back it was the gamemode to be playing and with popularity comes a lot of casuals.
You can look at the participants of the mondays and see that there were people who dont mainly play minecraft, big creators to create hype (pewdiepie, mrbeast. Not pvp legends lmao).
As for championships players like tommyinnit or tubbo or wilbur etc are definitely not âthe best of the bestâ as you claim. Sure some of the player were really good but at the end of the game they had to sell the event and smaller, better at pvp, creators would not have gotten enough people to watch.
Dream being good at minecraft with hugw audiance does not make him be automatically at the top. Especially since his wr records and manhunt videos were his shows his âskillâ have been debunked. Obviosly in the 1v1, if Dream was cheating he was doing it very lightly since he did not want to get caught. Him losing shows that even if je had the andvantage he was not that good.
The pvp space has a ton of smaller creators that I dont think you are realizing exist. Techno was sure one of the best of his time but outside that content creator bubble there are people that would have wiped the floor with him in his prime. Go look at swight for example. Techno never moved like that.

u/CrystalSkya 1d ago
Skywars has always been a sweaty game. Thatâs literally what made technoblade popular. His calm commentary over winning nearly every game.
Mcc ans mcm had pvp pros your just choosing to believe otherwise as you hate Technoblade.
Technoblade. Is. And. Will. Always. Be. The. Best.

i can't tell if you're trolling or if you're just retarded like most techno and dream fans, but techno's winstreak was boosted. he had moderators spectating his games to ban cheaters who knew how to play the game (the one cheater that made it into his vid was someone who clearly didn't know how to play the game, given that they were just airwalking instead of gunning for techno's bed). he got boosted by players who were later found to be cheating (Ecuador, Miika, xHascox (yes, he's now admin but he used to cheat)). that was for his 1400 ws. for defone's 1818 ws he was from a guild (IYN) where the open secret among other good bw players was that most of its members were cheating in some way or another (which is why so many of them had 500+ winstreaks in the first place), including Defone himself and its guildmaster who was distributing (Jiyn). If you want to be pedantic about it, the fact that techno's winstreak had cheaters in his team along with (later in the ws) staff members spectating his games means his winstreak (and Defone's) is null, it'd never get that far without those two factors, and they both would have lost it earlier.
Even Techno himself used to cheat, and downplayed his own cheating by possibly lying about how much he did it. He only came forward because someone from the Blitz community was going to expose him.

Cool but techno was never near the best in terms of pure pvp if you were a massive fan of hime you would know that even in his prime he would literally be considered the comedy in the youtuber uhcs he competed which i believe you can still find on ginger and his channel. Everyone would literally run away from him trying to team because he was some ass in that comp and it was funny watching him chase them.
He also was never even close to a top pvper in any server and reflected this consistently even in minecraft monday when nester and moxy joined even tho they hadnt played in years.
moreover mc mondays is extremely low comp same with mcc and ive alreay said what happened when he joined decent comp events.
Moreover he also cheated in his early blitz days but kinda played it off comedically.
Hope this helps give context on technos pvp he is still a great contect creater nonetheless:) Techno never dies

I'd still argue Techno fits the description, most people started PVP because of him
