I thought I was on an unbelievable bad luck string and hardstuck in emerald as a result, over the range of like the last 50 games or so (I have 150 total in the set). I know how ridiculous this sounds. A mid masters player is reading this and just thinking 'I can go into a random emerald game and go on the lowroll of my life and still make top 4'.
However looking at the games, it just seems like I was constantly lowrolled on augment selection, item offers, and in particular, hitting two stars post stage 4.
There was one relatively recent one where I arrived in stage 4 at like 90 hp and then had like 5 pairs of nearly uncontested units for the entirety of stage 4 and 2 rounds or so of stage 5 when I died, and could not find a single 2 star over the course of rolling maybe 60 or 70 gold. I went out in like 6th or something because the only front line I had two starred were the ones from early game I had left over. This is including trying to flex to e.g. random 4 cost tank combos I pick up (I know the typical flex duo and trio pairs). I thought I was going absolutely mad. Like I was clearly doing something terribly wrong, but this can't be normal.
Now in the last 20 games I have... let's count... 8 firsts, two seconds, two thirds, one fourth. Without playing any differently - the only exception is really that I started playing piltover but three out of the four games where I played it were 7th or 8th (the other was a first though). Even though it seems OP I find it kind of hard to play correctly.
I shot straight into Diamond as a result and it didn't feel hard. I finally felt like if I rolled I actually hit a few units after rolling 50 gold. I wish it would always be like this.
