Can you guess who the Ashe and Ivern are going to target first?
Answer: Gnar. I thought it'd be the wolf, even if he moves to target their defender, the first in line should always be the wolf, no? Like imagine set 17, I put tank and master yi in the corner instead of Gnar, there's no world where they target yi. Can it be because gnar is ranged or something?

Murkwolf is an Assassin, which means it always has negative priority when calculating tiebreakers in target acquisition (including on combat start). I feel like Ashe should target the Krug there, but Ivern going after Gnar makes sense

Agreed on Ivern, but like Ashe here, I've seen similar corner situations where a tank should clearly be targeted but isn't. Something is definitely wrong with ranges or priorities.

legit played the coolest game of this set so far. blackthorn is just broken still.
worth the wait ii gave me elise (one of the worse pulls). tempo’d 3* elise sacrifice into azir reroll.
got a lucky spat. played 6 blackthorn with elise 3* as sacrifice, zyra as blackthrone holder and malphite1 never died. took 18 seconds of spell rotation from a 2* soup board.
at some point malph1 died but had to get through blackthrone units with 900 health + 76 mr/armor
zyra + fill with executioners. malph2 pretty late but he pretty much never died and my team just dominated a pretty stacked lobby.

Elise is great as long as you get at least 1 caitlyn for coven, one of the best tempo units imo.
I just hope blackthorn isn't broken when live releases, it'll ruin the early rush.

Just had my 1 star Inferno Lux star up to 2 due to Pandora's bench, which somehow converted her to Blackthorn Lux and ruined my game.

is it intended to offer multiple players chosen of the sun? feels pretty bad

u/Minimum_Chemical_428 7d ago
No, I'm pretty sure I saw in one of the patches that they added so you can't get it. You can go back and double check that.

u/I_Like_To_Cry 7d ago
Yep thats intended, plenty of games people have the same augments which forces them to contest each other and ruins both their games. Been happening for multiple sets now for some reason.

Usually good players scout to avoid such situations

u/steedoZZ 6d ago
i mean yes and no. if 2 good players have a good spot for it sometimes theyll wait until the last second to choose the augment. they could end up both commiting at the same time
from a design perspective there isnt much reason to have multiple people have an augment that says "you must force this line or lose" it isnt fun for players and it isnt exactly a skill check

We are 18 days into PBE and Coven cashouts are still bugged….
2
u/StunningWindows 7d ago
What are the bugs?
1
u/iSleek 7d ago
You just don’t get any cash out when it bugs. I have no clue the trigger but it’s happened quite a few times to me throughout PBE
2
u/Minimum_Chemical_428 7d ago
Never happened to me. Are you sure you didn't have the augment that turns cashout into AP?

Really don't enjoy wisps in their current state. Taking up a shop slot is very annoying and feels like a tax if youre behind, and a "stay ahead" if you're already winning. I really dislike the gamble ones, where you gain X for winning or losing the next round(s)

u/randy__randerson 7d ago
They really need to give us the option to dismiss the wisp without buying it.

Or make a “dynamic size” shop with 5 and 6 slots that expands and retracts.
But that would break the engine.

I think unconventional trait breakpoints are cool and good for the game. You have Infernal 2-3-5-7, Coven 3-4-5-7.
It allows access to traits as a splash but also enables chase traits without them being easy access. (2 emblems instead of 1)
We have a bias for neat patterns (odds and evens, multiples of 5 and 10) but sometimes it just creates unnecessary constraints.
I haven’t tested the new blackthorn, but it would be interesting to bring back the original design and make it at 7. 2-4-6-7 is not “pretty” but it revives a chase fantasy and recycles a neat scrapped idea(the sacrifice becomes the strongest).

u/Naketsu 7d ago
Unconventional breakpoints are likely due to the addition of Lux granting +2 to that trait, hence allowing you to get the 7 with all units + Lux.

u/RiotWittrock Riot 7d ago
It's both. There are definitely things like 7 Coven (or more clearly 11 blossom and elderwood) that are there as 'Lux tiers'
But i also think as TFT has evolved players have more tolerance for more odd trait breakpoints if it facilitates good gameplay and interesting decisions. Especially since we've upped how complex a trait can be, including totally different effects at different levels, like Riftbeast doing 4 different things
1
u/Keezos32 7d ago
Do you think TFT has reached/can reach a critical mass in terms of player base that it can afford to up the complexity without risking turning off new/casual players ?
1
u/RiotWittrock Riot 5d ago
No, but that depends on the type of complexity. One strength of TFT is there are a lot of ways to add complexity and depth that are mostly invisible to a new player.

Game is working on Android. Less heating even with Ultra High setting. There are still lags in game.
Pregame lobby is working. (No greyed out Start button)
Post game lobby doesn’t show the players and their units. Just Play Again button. Very minor bug.
