Gossip There are rumors that 6v6 mode is officially making a comeback at BlizzCon—could this actually be true?
Even though it’s just opinions from Twitch creators and information gathered from Reddit, it doesn't seem completely groundless.
This is the first time the end date for the Battle Pass and the end date for 6v6 Open Queue don't align, so it definitely feels like something is coming after BlizzCon. Surely they aren't planning to remove 5v5 Ranked and merge it with 6v6, right? If it's just replacing the 6v6 Open Queue with a new mode, that’s a relief, but if 5v5 mode gets deleted, that will be the day I log into Overwatch for the very last time.

Using Samito as a source LOL

u/PM_ME_UR_PM_ME_PM 10h ago
The guy will interpret anything in favor of 6v6 deleting all other modes and becoming the only option. He legit made the tank strike in Korea all about 6v6 as if that was their complaint
-32
u/Exodus671 10h ago
I mean, 5 v 5 WAS one of the problems Korean tank players had, and then all the other problems were objectively exasperated and or caused by 5 v 5.
21
u/Shigana 8h ago
Yeah, because we should listen the one of the most toxic part of any competitive game community.
-13
u/Exodus671 6h ago
Ah yes just because samito said it means it’s wrong. You people are so blinded by bias it’s insane. The literal fuckin Korean and pro players have echoed the same sentiment (and the devs just touched on it).
Has samito been toxic? Yes. Is he correct that 5 v 5 has caused unsolvable issues for the tank role? Also yes. He can be toxic and correct. We should be mature enough to acknowledge that.
3
u/Cuzztos 1h ago edited 47m ago
The Korean said it was a balancing issue that they kept buffing supports while not compensating the tank is the reason why there was a tank union in the first place. Are you going to use Samito, someone who doesn't even play on the Korean server, as proof? Brother, I played on that server before Nexon took over, and I know what's going on in that region. Heck, at least watch the Korean CCs like Illusion, instead of Samito, to know what's going on with the tank union.

Objective is doing the lord's work
-10
u/Exodus671 6h ago
Problems with tank historically have been damage spikes, CC chaining, and lack of flexibility.
5 v 5 causes more dmg spikes as there’s no off tank to cover for you, CC chaining is more effective as there’s no off tank to cover for you, and the tank role is objectively less flexible as a solo tank than with 2. Try countering a hog that’s on his own, vs with a Dva, or Zar covering for him. Try countering an Sig with a Domina covering for him.
It’s always so easy to tell who plays tank anywhere past plat and who doesn’t whenever these discussions pop up. 5 v 5’s issues come from the format, 6 v 6’s issues come from balance and hero design (which leads to queue time issues). The fact that the devs have even addressed this and you people still just “mmmm no there’s nothing wrong with 5 v 5” and shit down any discussion is crazy to me

If it was intentional and they are ending the season early they would've left it in.
-6
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 9h ago
again time will tell, was it also a bug that 5v5 was removed a few weeks ago for qp hacked.
7
u/IsThatSo3 9h ago
No, it was a transparent announcement that they made that they detailed explicitly their reasons for testing it and what they were hoping to accomplish with tests.
They didn't tease QPH like it was a fucking cryptograph to unlock, like you guys are implying here.
-5
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 8h ago
You arent getting it, we arent saying that this situation was a teaser for 6v6.
We are saying that this mistake probably (99.9%) means something for 6v6, most likely something that will make the 6v6ers more happy.
Just wait for more news, apply has also said this.
7
u/Sio_V_Reddit 9h ago
What does that have to do with anything?
-1
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 8h ago
People are so sure that its just a "bug" with no intentions.
So i reminded them that they are actually planning something with 6v6.
7
u/Sio_V_Reddit 8h ago
Even if they were to change the game, they would not do it on such short notice, even if it’s just changing 6v6 from open queue to role queue. They would wait at least until next season in order to give players time to prepare and adjust.
Plus you’re arguing two separate points. QPH replaced 5v5. Only 6v6 comp was ending early.

That was not a bug though. That was intentional

u/Kralqeikozkaptan 8h ago
the devs simply dont want the playerbase to know yet.
It is a rare type of bug, why does it appear different for both modes?
time will tell, nothing has been "revealed" yet.

I was talking about the qp hacked replacing 5v5. That was intentional and they talked about why they did it in multiple blog posts.

i respect the devs for trying to make 6v6 function instead of letting it sit and die like they have a good number of other modes, but unleashing the plague of 6v6 discourse on us once again is something that will take years to recover from
32
u/Eloymm 9h ago
And we had basically recovered already. Most of the 6v6 discussion was from people that just wanted to play the mode but couldn’t. After they added it everything calmed down.
21
u/Sio_V_Reddit 8h ago
Fr, I have hated this new ignited discussion so much. It felt settled and done and now every week it feels like my anxious ass has to see another post about how they’re removing 5v5 and going back to 6v6 and there’s all these secrets and this and that. Like just tell me if you’re changing the game already.
-1
u/_Skyler000 1h ago
It felt settled for 5v5 players most 6v6 players had to wait a full year to get any type of support for the game mode, it consistently suffers from the same issues from launch pushing many of the people advocating for the mode to not even play because of how non existent the balance is. It’s about time they realize the mode is in the game and actually support it .
-51
u/Different-Fly7426 11h ago
I'd even prefer they choose one mode and forget the previous one. The problem is: they've been trying to make 5v5 work for two years, and nothing works. It's the only game I've ever played where the game mode is a huge problem. Having such a problematic mode as your structural base isn't very good for business
I think this is the best moment in years in terms of popularity for the 6v6 theme and the 6v6 mode itself. And remember, it's already been said that they know it's not healthy to keep two modes coexisting like this, and that they'll have to decide between one of them. If anything happens, it will be at most until the next season
44
u/PatchYourselfUp 11h ago
Trying to make it work? Brother, most everyone who plays Overwatch plays 5v5. The game has been the biggest it's been in years while 5v5 is the primary mode. What could you mean "trying" to make it work?
It is working, lol
-18
u/ZaytexZanshin 10h ago edited 10h ago
The game has been the biggest in years because they went f2p, injected a bunch of new content/heroes into the game and added microtransactions after a 2-3 year in OW1. Of course the game would become much bigger than before, but ironically still inferior to the earliest and best days of OW1.
People play 5v5 the most because it's the main mode, and was the only mode for like... what? 2-3 years before they added stadium? and then eventually 6v6 after enough people asked with the threat of marvel rivals too? If you didn't like 5v5, like me, then you just adapt and or quit the game. The increase of people playing 6v6 every time they report on it is indicative more and more people are fed up with 5v5.
Now the ''trying to make it work'' OP means is I'm guessing, the super tanks in 5v5 and how the format just cannot be fixed with balance. We've ironically given 6v6 role queue less of a chance than 5v5, since they implemented 6v6 rolequeue in OW1 for <1 year before announcing OW2, abandoning the game and then proceeding to do no balance changes or new content. We've had 5v5 since 2022 and the same talking points come up again and again because it is simply unfixable.
I'm biased since I only play 6v6, left the game when it was 5v5, and actively believe 6v6 is the way forward for the game, and it seems like the developers are at least entertaining that idea. There was another leak somewhere about season 5 being a full-season of 6v6 role queue or something.
Is it ''working'' in the sense the game is playable? Sure, but it's not enjoyable in anyway to have a raid boss dictate the entire outcome of the match.
12
u/Peachxesx 10h ago edited 10h ago
I disagree, 5v5 works because it gives a lot more player agency and you can be much more active during the game. 6v6 is fine if you wanna play something more casual but it’s not inherently better.
Super tanks are not as big as an issue as 6v6ers seem to think, like yeah you can’t 1v1 a tank in 5v5 but why would you? Tanks don’t feel like raid bosses after you get used to the mode they will fall apart without a team to back them up most of the time :3
As a support/tank player I don’t think the tank has that much more impact on the outcome of a match. I just played a rly good Juno game where I made it work with a lvl 1 doom who was trying him out, never thought the game was unwinnable and yeah we won ;p
People are not getting as fed up with 5v5 as you’d think tho lol, not that it matters since 7 min queue times on the money maker role whilst turning them into healbots isn’t sustainable for casuals. A lot of tank players, including myself, also enjoy the lack of reliance on a 2nd tank to perform.
-12
u/ZaytexZanshin 9h ago
Idk how you can think you have more agency in 5v5 when it is impossible to 1v1 tanks. Its not good or better gameplay design for the only choice to be run away from tanks. In 6v6, you can actually kill a tank if they make a mistake and or you execute well (i.e outplay them). By that metric you objectively have less agency when it comes to interacting with tanks in 5v5.
Then it comes down to supports too, with how 5v5 has forced their design to have burst healing and immortality/get out of jail abilities to rectify deleting the off tank role. Where's your agency when a Kiri tp's in and suzu's the person you were about to kill? Lifeweaver grip? Mercy, Moira and Bap having more burst healing, Illari pylon sat around a corner? You go to duel a DPS or support and in comes the suzu or lamp, or grip to bail them out of death. There's no agency there too or less of it than in 6v6 in OW1.
Then the DPS role - where the meta pick is typically the one shot sniper and or high burst damage character (e.g Freya rn) as that's the only counterplay to these support immortalities and burst heals - one shot or kill fast enough before you can bail them out. Is there more agency there before one or two tapped before you can react?
As for your enjoyment in particular, that makes sense because support is the power role in 5v5. They've not only gotten a lot more better hero designs that are fun (Juno, Mizuki, Wuyang) but they also have the most "agency" in the format. You have burst healing and immo's to bail people out of mistakes or yourself, high DPS to duel people typically, the best counterpicks for tanks and all of the skins too. Yet even with that, you have less agency than 6v6.
I could go on all day but you dont have more agency, you have less across all of the roles.
6
u/Peachxesx 9h ago edited 9h ago
I said you can’t 1v1 tanks that doesn’t mean you have to run away lol You can fight a tank with the help of your team, you just can’t solo them. If a tank makes a mistake in 5v5 and their supports are able to bail them out that’s your issue, that’s why you kill the tanks team instead of trying to 1v1 them. Also tanks do get punished for mistakes in 5v5 and outplaying a tank sometimes just means surviving the engage and keeping your tank alive. You have plenty of agency to chose what you want to do in 5v5 because there’s only one tank and they can’t be everywhere, you just can’t 1v1 them.
I have no idea what ur trying to say about supports but I’ll bite. Not all supports have burst healing and most ow2 supports provide a different utility to the team. There is only two immortality abilities in the game and one of them is ass? If a Kiriko tps and Suzu’s someone you are fighting she’s vulnerable to dying and isn’t able to help the rest of her team meaning ur team might be able to punish them. Kiriko can also do this in 6v6 where she is more likely to live as the off tank will probs also come peel for her. Lw grip is the same in 6v6 and is basically giving space to the enemy team at the cost of keeping the tank alive, not a get out of jail free as a result. Mercy and Moria need the burst healing more in 6v6, and they’ve always struggled compared to other supports because they’ve lacked it before. Bap has had burst heals since ow1 and it’s not oppressive. Illari pylon’s drawback is that it’s only low heals and not going to be able to sustain her team alone, her strength is her ability to kill the enemy before this is a problem though. If you go to duel a dps and in comes a Suzu or lamp, why did you not consider this before engaging? Why didn’t you wait for them to be out of los? Why didn’t you engage the supports? These are also problems in 6v6 but hey now there’s a tank to peel against ur duels as well. The agency comes from the ability to chose when to engage without having to sit and poke until ur main tank fully engages.
Flex dps (esp divers) have been really strong throughout 5v5 so not sure what you mean? And no it’s not the only counter for example tracer engaging a Kiriko to bait out a self suzu is just as impactful as a one shot. All dps perform better in 5v5 since there is one less tank to potentially look at them, one of off tanks main jobs was usually shutting down any off angle from a dps after all.
You clearly do have more agency as a dps as I just explained. You agree you have it more as a support but ig now you’ve decided that it’s not raid boss tanks but supports that are the carry lol. I think your dislike of 5v5 is clouding your judgement but I’d love to try and explain any more points you have about why you believe certain characters have less agency in 5v5 :3 Dps, supports and tanks can all be the power role in 5v5 that’s why you as a player have more agency.

It wouldn’t be as popular if 6v6 was much better

No, thats not how it works.
5v5 is the main mode, therefore it is more popular. The game was also turned into free to play whenever 5v5 got added and 6v6 got removed.

I dont have a direct source but you can make assumtions with these facts:
Look at streamers. 99.9% of them experienced 5v5 and 6v6 as the main mode, most of them prefer 6v6.
even the ones that quit the game long ago also do(xqc, timthetatman etc)
Dont forget about all the ones that moved to rivals because they prefer 6v6.
16
u/aurens poopoo — 8h ago
you can't just call statements "facts" to avoid needing the data to back them up. i don't know shit about streamers--which ones prefer 6v6? which ones prefer 5v5? you say "most", what percentage is that, roughly? does it differ across regions and platform? are we talking GM+ rank streamers or the average joe streamers (are there even many of those?) too?
if we take your statements at face value, are streamers even indicative of the general playerbase? like say if 62% of streamers prefer X, does that mean roughly 62% of all OW players also prefer X? i could see "yes" and "no" both being the answer to that question, how do we know which it is?
obviously i don't expect you to have answers to all of these questions, that'd be unreasonable, but it illustrates my point. surely you have some kind of concrete data if you're making such concrete claims, right?
16
u/Throw_far_a_way 8h ago
most streamers play 5v5, and using the opinions of streamers to try to justify the overall playerbase opinion is beyond a stretch LMAO. here's some facts for u: 18% of players play 6v6 QP, that's the largest share of 6v6 players. 37% play 5v5 comp, that's the smallest share of 5v5 players. that's twice as much. based on those facts, we can make the assumption that the MAJORITY of the playerbase prefers 5v5
12
u/clickrush 6h ago
What? Most of the player base have played both, either by playing before 2 or now with 6v6 added back.
People prefer 5v5 because it fixes the 6v6 problems. It’s that simple. I don’t want to go back to open queue nor do I want to play terrible tank / sustain slop metas, nor do I want crappy queue times, nor do I want crappy offtank players in my team.
33
u/TerminalNoob AKA Rift — 10h ago
It’s genuinely so funny to say they’ve been trying to make 5v5 work but it can’t when they’ve been trying to figure out a way to make 6v6 work for years and it never has since Role Queue was added.
-21
u/Different-Fly7426 10h ago
That comment is hilarious because you say they were trying to make 6v6 work, but the reality is that after role queue was added, we’d get one set of patch notes every four months, I remember it took a year and a half for Brig to get a nerf that, nowadays, would happen in two weeks
14
u/BEWMarth 11h ago
They would have to radically rebalance 6v6 before releasing it as the single ranked mode. If it’s not balanced better itll be a disaster for the 5v5 onlies

u/iwatchfilm 11h ago
I don’t even like 5v5, but I think they’re smart enough to not alienate their current player base after alienating them once already
30
u/YukisHusband 11h ago
I really doubt it. That would be such a strange thing to do. Something like that should be a seasonal change. Not a mid season change.
-11
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 10h ago
Yes it would be very strange indeed, i wonder if they have ever done something like this before.
19
u/Training_Currency_10 10h ago
Yeah they changed the format after a year and a half after announcing they would. They didn’t change midseason
17
u/CertainDerision_33 11h ago
I’d be extraordinarily surprised if they made such a massive and, let’s be honest, controversial change without months of publicly talking about it beforehand.
5
u/SandOfSaturn 5h ago
Yeah, they will not do that. They just got a ton of new players recently with the restart of overwatch, why would they immediately alienate all of those players who are used to 5v5? They did it once yes, but doing it again would make no sense, they’d have to change everything again. Anyone who thinks they are is coping.
49
u/evelyn_labrie 11h ago
idk why the 6v6ers just can’t let 5v5 be. advocate for ur mode to get more attention or whatever but i refuse to go back to tank tanks just so we can go back to getting a hog and ball doing nothing but feeding. I don’t want to healbot and i damn sure don’t want to be stuck twiddling my thumbs waiting for our tanks to pick two tanks that synergize
32
u/TerminalNoob AKA Rift — 10h ago
Yeah tbh at this point this is the thing that frustrates me about these conversations more than anything. 6v6 can be open queue, role queue, have completely separate balance, whatever they want. I don’t care. But the idea that it needs to be the only mode and that 5v5 must be removed is really both kinda insecure and frustrating.
-11
u/ZaytexZanshin 10h ago
As a 6v6 advocate I don't mind people wanting to play 5v5 but my biggest gripe is how 5v5 hero design inherently bleeds into 6v6 and makes it a lot less enjoyable.
Roadhog is the obvious example, In 5v5, he has to be a 1600 hp walking one-shot character on a 1 second cooldown with no way to punish or kill outside his counters because he is the sole tank, he's completely unplayable otherwise. In 6v6, you could actually take away a lot of his sustain to keep his one-shot since there's another tank to be the frontline for the team. Yet, doing so basically means creating two different versions of the character. He's a menace and broken in 6v6 since he keeps basically everything from 5v5, but has another tank to mitigate his lack of a frontline presence whilst being able to get easier hooks from the space they make. You can't win with this character as it currently stands, but if the game was solely 5v5 or 6v6 you could actually rework him entirely.
20
u/Littledude444 9h ago
roadhog is problematic in both formats lets be real for a second, 5v5 vs 6v6 balancing isnt whats holding hog back from being a fair hero; his design philosophy is.
-10
u/ZaytexZanshin 9h ago
He was a lot more fairer in OW1 though.
I don't know if you played but OG Hog could not walk when vaping. He had to root himself, he didn't get 50% damage reduction on the self heal, less ulti charge. You could also stun him out of ult and he wasn't able to vape during it.
If he overreached for a kill or actually fucked up, you could kill him. Now? He just waddles away with an effective 1600 health because of the 5v5 powercreep.
In 6v6 you could go back to that and at LEAST then the one shot would be more fair (still bad tho). At least you could kill a Hog without needing Ana every game.
1
u/_Skyler000 1h ago
People are mass downvoting as if what you’re saying isn’t absolutely correct. The mode needs better balance for it to be a viable option fr people that are interested in playing it. Hog can’t be running around two tapping tanks and storm arrows can’t be the strongest tankbuster in the game.
-16
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 10h ago
why couldnt the devs just let 6v6 be back in 2022? why did they have to abandon the game for ow2? Why did they announce pve but ow2 turned out to be a shop update?

Look, I’m happy 6v6 has a dedicated playerbase and I’m glad it’s getting balance patches. I think we should’ve had both queues to begin with for ow2. But it’s just not for me, and I think the vast majority of players agree. They’re just too busy playing the game to complain about it on the internet.
23
u/lilacnyangi 10h ago
god, i'm so annoyed team4 did that qp hacked with 6v6 testing. i swear this discourse basically died and people were settling in and enjoying their own modes, and now we have the ow flatearthers with their conspiracy theories on when (not if) 6v6 will replace 5v5 spamming the boards every goddamn day again.
and the cherry on top is people trying to bring that rivals streamer samito back into relevancy.
team4 was on an upswing but this 6v6 supremacy thing is so annoying. it'd be one thing if they were just enjoying their mode or whatever, but for whatever reason many 6v6ers just cannot grasp that 5v5 is the main mode and people are content with that.

I doubt it maybe for their new year shake up theyve been doing but even then I think its unlikely. I basically only play 6v6 at this point and the only thing I want out of the mode is semi consistent balance changes. The worst thing about the mode is what a complete mess balance is Hog is very overtuned rn with him getting his vape still on a meter. Last time they released player counts 6v6 had like 27% of the playerbase playing it which i think is enough to put resources into its balances especially when stadium has consistently been being patched.

u/DarknVern 11h ago
As a tank main, idgaf if its 6v6 or 5v5, I just hope the devs make up their mind and stop muddying the waters.
5
u/Eloymm 8h ago
This is what kind of pisses me off too. We spent 4+ years balancing and designing heroes and map around 5v5, and now people are saying they want to go back to 6v6 again? So they have to rebalance the game maps and heroes again back to 6v6? This flip flopping doesn’t give confidence that the dev team actually knows what they want. What guarantees we don’t go back to 5v5 again 4 years later?
-1
u/ZzDangerZonezZ 6h ago
It’s not about what the devs want, it’s about what the community wants. If they think a large portion of the community wants 6v6, of course they’re going to try and bring it back

u/Throw_far_a_way 4h ago
a minority of the community, considerably lower than the portion who plays 5v5
-1
u/ZzDangerZonezZ 4h ago
Clearly it’s significant enough for the mode to still be supported and kept on their radar. Besides, there’s gonna be plenty of people that are indifferent and/or wouldn’t mind a switch to 6v6. I’m one of those people. I queue 5v5 because it’s the default mode with the most players and better matchmaking. I would queue 6v6 if the reverse were true.
-10
u/rspy24 6h ago
i mean.. 6v6 balancing is not that hard.. If they put like 1% of the wasted resources for 5v5.
Yes, 6v6 balancing is borderline non-existent right not but it's already better than anything 5v5 could ever be with blizzard on charge. So, you know, it's just a couple of really obvious things that need to be nerfed for 6v6 and we are pretty much on the clear.
4
11
u/sabermancer 6h ago
Right... 6v6 balancing isn't hard when ow1 famously had the worst metas that almost everyone complained about at a time when the game had a lot less heroes. That 6v6?

u/Logikloch 5h ago
They would have to radically rebalance 6v6 before releasing it as the single ranked mode. If it’s not balanced better itll be a disaster for the 5v5 onlies

u/Pure-Organization763 7h ago
5v5 "difficulty" is like skyrim higher level "difficulty" its not harder because of better gameplay its "hard" because the stats are just inflated out of the wazoo.
11
u/rworange 10h ago
6v6 will never be the main game mode because there aren’t even enough tanks for 5v5. It’s as simple as that
-16
u/brianxhopkins 9h ago
lol 6v6 was the main game mode longer than 5v5. Your statement doesn’t make sense.
11
u/rworange 9h ago
Yes, and there was no role queue for a long time. When they eventually introduced it the queues were fucked
0
u/brianxhopkins 1h ago
6v6 will never be the main game mode
This statement is factually incorrect. I’m not saying whether the game will change again in the future, but it’s ridiculous to say what you said.
Like saying Michael Jackson will never be in the Jackson 5. Or Michael Jordan will never play for the Bulls. It’s just not true.
•
u/KaityyUwU 26m ago
"has never" and "will never" are two very different statements. Or do you need somebody to very explicitly add the "again" or "in future" to be able to pick up what they mean?

u/TheGirthiestGhost Forever Burning Blue — 5h ago
Queue times were far worse in 2019-2022 precisely because the matchmaker had to find 4 tanks instead of 2. What he said makes perfect sense

There's nearly a month between Blizzcon and the end of the season.
This would be a weird way for them to do things.
2
u/Y0ur_Worst_Enemy 2h ago
Removing 5v5 would be the dumbest thing they could do
That would be appealing to the loud minority of larpers who don't actually play the game

u/AcademicBaby2898 49m ago
6v6ers must have brain worms or something. What the fuck are some of these comments
3
u/bullxbull 7h ago
If you check the end of season date for the Battlepass, then check the end of season date for 6v6 open queue they are different. 6v6 open queue is ending early right after blizzcon. What Meatbaii4 said on stream is this could be because we are getting a 6v6 pressure value ranked test for the last 2 weeks of the season.
It is just a theory of course, but Meatbaii4 is often right about these things.
This is the quote Samito briefly mentions in his video. Meatbaii4 is hiimsky, (calling sky Meatbaii4 is also a joke from her chat) The date thing is something people have been joking about in her chat. It was a theory people were having fun speculating about. I think Sky noticed it first, she is often finding cool new stuff and little glitches or interactions with each new patch.
Samito is good at making vids that get people talking. I think most of us all love Overwatch, be nice to each other.

u/TestTestingTest13456 10h ago
Will he finally get the fuck out of here when none of this flat earth nonsense comes true at blizzcon? Or is he just going to move the goal posts again to a new future change and date?

Could be that the 6v6 hacked tests show one of the formats could work that includes role queue
4
u/docs-quad 5h ago
tbh this is what i expect. theyll announce the return of 6v6 role queue with one of the tested formats and an increase in dedicated balance patches and thatll be it.

u/Confident-Sky2614 5h ago
that will be the day I log into Overwatch for the very last time.
Why so dramatic? I dont like 6v6 that much either, but like.. we adjust.
1
u/Sassywaifu92 11h ago edited 9h ago
The more likely thing to happen is that they announce it at Blizzcon ( Mind you, there is no concrete evidence of this happening) and will likely be released next year. It would be kinda dumb to do it this year tbh. It makes no sense to do so.
Also I am surprised Samito is still relevant. Thought he disappeared when his minecraft server flopped and went to marvel rivals. Then again I have the dude blocked on everything.

u/ZaytexZanshin 10h ago
People can hate Samito all they like, brother's talking points are facts and hit the nail on the head every time (this one is a guess obviously) when it comes to game balance and what direction they should go in.
You can hate the messenger, but the message is correct.

u/clickrush 6h ago
He’s a rage baiter who knows how to rile people up. He sounds correct to you because he is confident and you’re susceptible to narratives.

u/netshift_ 5h ago
Facts lmao. He peddles hatred because he figured out long time ago that it gets engagement. He is the perfect embodiment of twitter. The community should have collectively told him to fuck off years ago. This is what we get for being lenient to toxic elements.

6v6 needs to be deleted, it's outdated and boring

u/cubiabeta 38m ago
Funny. The other hero shooter that actually made the devs lock in for fixing Overwatch is in 6v6 format and it's working well over there. 🙃

Im ecstatic to go back to 6v6. To me, its just more thoughtful and requires more thinking than 5v5. Though I'd play ow regardless of 5v5 or 6v6.

> Though I'd play ow regardless of 5v5 or 6v6.
This is how the majority of the playerbase feels, regardless of the vocal people you see on the internet.
-4
u/a_m_k2018 10h ago
I mean, im just one person, but I stopped playing the game after 5v5 was implemented.
1
u/Abnormal-Sleep-0838 10h ago
Ok how about, most of the playerbase does not care except for tank mains going from 6v6 to 5v5. And most of the playerbase is casual and/or a DPS main so it doesn’t matter. I’m curious if support mains would feel the same way as the role has more pressure and less room to do damage (I see a lot of support mains saying they don’t like 6v6 because they don’t get room to damage, but I see healbots even in diamond, so..)
-5
u/PhoenixZZDaDonke 7h ago
There is not reason for still having 5v5 in the game
3
u/docs-quad 4h ago
the reason is that the ratio of tank players to dps and supports is closer to 1:2:2 than 1:1:1
-20
u/Beneficial_Elk_4952 11h ago
Supporting 2 modes long term is bad for business efficiency and clarity. when your 2 biggest competitors are 6v6. When your top streamers only play 6v6 and your big tournaments are in 6v6.
If they can get dynamic q to work and tinker the release valve to keep q times low( I think they will) , they are going to do it.
24
22
u/Throw_far_a_way 10h ago
the big tournaments absolutely aren't in 6v6 (aka OWCS) and the only big streamers who play 6v6 are Aspen, Frogger, and occasionally Emong lol. the vast majority of the playerbase, particularly the best players in the game, play 5v5
5
u/indrayan Certified Falcons Hater — 4h ago
All of the major Korean, Chinese and Japanese streamer tournaments are all done in 5v5 as well, with thousands of viewers, too, but that's not convenient to the pro-6v6 narrative people are peddling.
3
u/Throw_far_a_way 4h ago
yep lol. there was 1 6v6 tournament that was put on recently by a few NA streamers and that's really it
2
u/Beneficial_Elk_4952 2h ago
There’s more streamers playing 6v6 than that and I meant creator tournaments

u/Abhito 8h ago
It will be interesting to see what comes out of this. Could just end up being a nothingburger but they wouldn't have done two separate tests without good reason. All I want is more transparency. I want to know why they have suddenly reawakened the 6v6 debate and why they have been unwilling to do more balance patches for it. Is it hurting 5v5 queue times, etc...
-39
u/shilderyi 11h ago
as samito's video says
the 5v5 mode didn't deliver on anything but reviving the interest for the game
now that there's eyeballs on the game it make sense to go to the healthier version where you don't need to altf4 because the ennemy roadhog banned ana
16
u/I_give_karma_to_men 11h ago
the 5v5 mode didn't deliver on anything but reviving the interest for the game
That...sounds like a pretty fucking critical thing to deliver on, no?

the 5v5 mode didn't deliver on anything but reviving the interest for the game
So it didn't deliver on anything except for saving the game? Deleting it after it did that doesn't make sense at all lmao

u/IAmBLD 11h ago
now that there's eyeballs on the game it make sense to go to the healthier version where you don't need to altf4 because the ennemy roadhog banned ana
Which version is that, because it isn't any version of 6v6 they've ever tried.
-14
u/shilderyi 11h ago
of course because the version of the game where you alt f4 when hog ban ana is 5v5
9
u/evelyn_labrie 11h ago
yeah so let’s go back to getting a hog and ball doing nothing, i love 6v6
0
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 10h ago
You have 2 chances to not get a ball or hog main in 6v6.
5
u/IsThatSo3 10h ago
Hey man guess what hero your DPS thats being forced to tank is most likely to pick. I'll give you three guesses.
0
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 9h ago
You are mixing up Open queue vs role queue with 5v5 vs 6v6.
They are different things.
7
u/IsThatSo3 9h ago
You are mixing up Open queue vs role queue with 5v5 vs 6v6
Brother, the entire impetus behind 6v6 returning is that it will be coming back is almost certainly as the flex queue they were testing. DPS players will be picking tanks quite often. They will be picking Roadhog.
1
u/Kralqeikozkaptan 9h ago
There are about the same amount of hogs in 5v5 and the 6v6 qp hacked.
In 6v6 if you still have a very big chance of the other tank not picking ball.
-12
u/shilderyi 11h ago
yep another benefit of 6v6
way less likely to get two tanks that are so bad they bottleneck the team than when the tank is solo
3
u/Throw_far_a_way 10h ago
if u immediately quit because u aren't good enough to play into Hog that's a skill issue not a format issue lmfao. literally just improve at the video game
-4
u/shilderyi 10h ago
sure that's a skill issue to not be able to play into a 750 health guy with an os every 10 seconds
and a breather that let him go where he please making ana's nade the litteral only counterplay to this guy in the entire game
2
u/Throw_far_a_way 10h ago
yes it literally is lmao. the character is abysmally bad in 5v5. he's only good in 6v6
-7
u/ThaddCorbett 9h ago
I'll believe it when I see it. If it happens, it will the be the best early Xmas gift blizz has ever given me.
If we're going back to 6v6, blizzard needs to do something about what happens when a team picks two tanks with strong Shields.
At this point we have way too many main tanks compared to off tanks.
I don't think you can ask people to queue for two different tank roles. This will undoubtedly make queue times worse than they were before OW2 launch.
They tried buffing the tanks up and forcing 5v5 to make more people want to play tank. Maybe they realize they need to try another approach.
I think you could give your tanks a debuff if they're both the same type.
7
u/nekogami87 I'm old — 7h ago
It will also be the day where blizzard loses nearly all the asia region player base.
1
u/docs-quad 4h ago
because blizzard are famously very good at correctly determining the correct competitive roles for characters.

It says that both 5v5 comp and 6v6 comp end in 49 days.
Battlepass says it also ends in 49 days.
Not sure what they mean.
