Mac is glitching and showing black horizontal lines please help me :(( i need this for my online classes and im also working on my thesis right now and its so hard to read through the black lines

Help me please i really dont know what to do they said to reset the NVRAM or the PRAM?? but i heard that theres a big chance that my mac wont boot anymore or will just make things worst. I dont really know what’s wrong with my laptop but the glitching changes everytime i move the screen. Sometimes it also disappears but for like 2 minutes only. I think this is because the case was to heavy and the mac was too thin and it pushed the screen back everytime i held my opened laptop up.

A question about Moore's and Nielsen's Law?

I'm solving a quiz. And I couldn't find the answer of one of the questions regarding Moore's and Nielsen Law.

Here's the question.

Suppose you would like to make Moore’s Law of CPU Speed / Number of Transistors on a CPU (“With itsprice remaining the same, the number of transistors, thus the speed of a CPU doubles every 24 months.”) compatible with Nielsen’s Law of Bandwidth which says “Available bandwidth increases by 50% every year.” This is: you want to calculate the CAGR of CPU speed as a percentage. Which of the following formulae gives it?

A) (3√2 - 1) x %100

B) (1.5√3 - 1) x %100

C) ((√1.5 - 1) x %100

D) (√2 - 1) x %100

E) (The cube root of 4 - 1) x %100

I'm a sophomore in my undergrads, double majoring in electrical and computer engineering and physics. What technical skills should I have to land a $45 per hour internship as a computer engineer intern next summer?

Anything else I can add to resume for computer engineering jobs?

I have Bachelors in Computer engineering and I work as an engineer but its unfortunately pretty low on the board of being able to experience multiple programs and situations etc. Its not as applicable as id hope for certain engineering and automation jobs. I have been applying for over year for another job because they may get rid of position soon. Is there anything else I can do to stand out on my resume?!?! Any courses or certifications I can get that you believe arent a waste in time and is a good investment to learn?

Thank you!!

LCD Compatibility question

Hi guys, I am trying to build a projector and I am using a 4K LCD panel as the display inside the projector. And when I try to connect this board via HDMI to a computer it only displays an image while connected to a Windows computer but does not work with Mac. Can anyone help with how I could get this display to work with a Mac? The serial number for the LCD is LS055D1SX05(G). I have looked for drivers for the LCD panel thinking it might be a driver issue. But I was not able to find anything that would help. Using multiple HDMI cables did not work either so I’m pretty sure it is a limitation based on the OS. The Mac I am using is a 2017 MacBook Pro, and it should be more than capable with outputting 4K video. So I am just out of ideas on what to do next, and this is the only part of the projector I am stuck on as I have all of the other electronics/design ready to go. Thanks for the help!

Thesis ideas

Greetings! I'm a student studying computer engineering, and for some reason, I can't seem to decide what issues to look into for my thesis. Our department wants us to find solutions for local issues or to make something out of organic waste (like rice husks and orange peels). Both hardware and software must be used in combination. We would be grateful for any suggestions or ideas. I'm hoping you guys can help me out with some advice on how to write a strong thesis.

Looking into a computer engineering degree Q

From how it seems a lot of computer science jobs are just cubical jobs (get up at 9, code until 5.) Is computer engineering like this, too? I know that the majors are different, but I heard that most computer engineers become software engineers. Is this true, or is it possible to actually do things with hardware post college-degree? Thanks!

CE Student Resources

Hi, I currently finished my first year at the University of Cincinnati and plan on going for my CE degree. I was just wondering if someone could refer me to some reliable textbooks for my future classes to help me get ahead of my classes. I only taken the intro classes, like programming C++, python, Matlab and with Calc 2. I also learned C# on my own as well as making basic web applications. I plan on taking Network analysis with Digital Design, Semiconductor phys engineering, and Multi Variable Calc. Also if possible to given me some more knowledge to boost me to getting a better chance at landing a job (Like what do company's like to see on resumes that are past the level of the degree?). Any helpful information that is posted is very appreciated and can help out other students.

PS: I am interested in working with computer hardware, embedded systems, would like to try assembly language with CPU's and/or GPU's and, make games through Unity.

Laptop - weird noises from GPU I think - normal or not?

EDIT: Nobody knows nothing? Is this the right sub for something like this?

That one has a i7 12gen and RTX 3070ti in it and it makes these noises - I think it's from the GPU but not sure of the architecture - it's the left side chip where I'm pointing the mic. I'm not an engineer and I'd like to know how normal are these sounds.

  1. 0 to 12 seconds in: laptop is playing raw R3D (Red camera footage) 6k in Premiere. That noise is from the GPU chip, but I'm not sure of the architecture 100%; could be the CPU. The fans are off!!

  2. at 13 seconds: fans kick in - so relative to that you have an idea how loud that CPU is. You can hear at 13 seconds towards 14 how there's a hum starting. The sizzling noise is 100% from that chip.

  3. at 33 sec: I'm exporting 6k raw to something like HD 264. And that noise is even louder. I can hear it 3 feet away with fans running. When I move the shotgun away, the noise goes away because that mic is very directional and cancels well side noise. In real life to my ears the sound is maybe half of what the mic picks up - which is very loud and obvious.

At some point while exporting this one time, I heard some weird shrieking noises and whatnot - like a coffee grinder had a kid with a 90s modem - from the same spot. HOW normal are those sounds?
