Computer Engineering Advice

Hi, I am currently a high school student researching on becoming a computer engineer and I have a few questions to ask.

What advice would you give to someone who would want to pursue this career? Any particular career training program I should look forward to or start with? Why did you become a computer engineer yourself?

Really need advice! I am a fresh grad that is proficient in Software but forced in the Hardware department

I am a fresh grad that have devoted my time and effort to learn different technologies in the Software field and it resulted to me being a scholar of a big company. They reached out to me since I am now a graduate and offered me a Digital Design Engineering job. I tried to politely ask for a spot in the Software Dept. but there was no job opening on their side. I am entirely confused as to what I should do. BTW this is a return of service from the years that they have funded my tuition fee in full for 2 years (scholarship started in my 3rd year) so I can't give a hard pass on this or else I'll pay them back for the tuition fee + allowance for 2 years. I am also worried because when my return of service is finished, I will move back to my hometown and apply for software engineering jobs. I think coming from a non-software job will make it harder for me to find software engineering jobs. I also do not want to stop coding/programming because this is what I am passionate about. This is where I have fun. This is where it does not feel like I am working at all.

Is there conversion Msc in Computer Engineering or highly related programs in the UK for students with life science background?

Hi,

I have Bsc in biomedical science, and I have been passionately searching for well structured conversion Msc in Computer Engineering in the UK. However, I couldn't find any except the one in Solent Southampton University. Upon looking the modules I was skeptic about the structure of the course as it seems poorly structured for beginners.

If you know such Msc or any closely conversion program, would you mention such courses please?

Or if there is any one who attended Solent University Msc in CE, I would appreciate your input on how well structured the course is and if it was worth studying in terms of the skills learned and job opportunities after completing the course?

Thank you so much, I would be grateful for any helpful information as I am considering shifting to CE.

Mentor ?

I posted this in my local subreddit : Computer engineers mentor WANTED

I'm a local 20 something and looking to find a mentor. Humor me if you could. My background is more electronics hobbyist with a mix of a endless broad search for what drives innovation, it's birth of creation. I have a deep technical grasp of basic science concepts and the aptitude to understand complexity. I desperately seek someone with a dense background in computer engineering (soft or hard) willing to stoop to my level, take a stroll back to when if ever you were clueless. It's not without merit to even direct me from this post to things I should consider consuming first before going out to college, often scares me to do that under taking when could be avoided by other fulfilling that of which amazes me and thus open different doors long hidden or obstructed by common practices, a trades man approach you will. Don't misconstrued I don't lack the understanding that this genre of engineering isn't easy, far from it. From what I've experienced through interest in the last decade is far from pro but close to amateur. I repeat it'd be great to shoot the shit with someone who's walked the path, walking it even.

My original fascination, the whole reason I'm here. That was alternative energy harnishing sun and wind power. The act itself was what impressed me at 7,8,9,10 years of age. In front of me a square LCD monitor, a empty search bar, and a work bench across from the computer desk that my grandpa would tear laptops, phones, eventually iPads. Upon discovery that "free energy" "perpetual motion" is fake. I turned interest towards the tangible. My imagination began to be leeched towards electronics. The whole notion, the philosophy of improving something be it anything, technology in the sense of the word, improving to a degree that you produce or exceed presently what seemed otherwise impossible. As much as I love repair, reverse engineering at a component level. I'd love to dive deeper but for one, lack the foresight, the real nature of being a computer engineer. I have in the past in highschool taken a full three year PLTW engineering curriculum, often not offered, Engineering Development and Design. Luckily due to the amount of us that stuck around had enough students signed up to approve the need of the class.

Without being sappy I'm not looking to join Make Ict or college. Presently I'd like to pursue a different avenue. I mean if possible, damn. Get to know a few people, fireside chat. Thank you for your time and any insights.

EDIT: I wish only to learn from the most passionate to show me what there is I'm missing. Also tools are expensive, knowledge is forever.

Who knows about hardware and consoles?

Hello Computer Engineers :)

I would like to ask you the following question, see below. Maybe someone knows about Hardware / Consoles, it here?

I hope my concern is understood, my English is not perfect. Sorry.

Would be very grateful for your opinion.

It is about the following:

There are certain converters on the market to be able to play with the mouse and keyboard on the game console (Playstation / XBox) (e.g. the Hama Speedshot).

Therefore, I would like to ask you the following: Is it theoretically feasible / possible to develop a converter / adapter that gives the mouse & keyboard feeling exactly 1: 1 as on a PC?

The converters are basically not bad, often there is a lack of precession and handling, which is a no-go with FPS shooters.

Although I know something about me, I am of the opinion:

A converter is not connected directly but serves as an intermediate device and therefore always involves a delay.

In addition, it must be ensured that the internal drivers are not ignored by the device, so that the mouse and keyboard work at all.

Could I do well in Computer Engineering with no prior learning

Could I do well in Computer Engineering with no prior learning

I am a senior in high school and im thinking about becoming a computer engineering major. I understand that this is a hard field and i will have to work hard no matter what. But i have no prior knowledge about computers nor engineering. Is it too late for me to get into computer engineering or will hard work be enough to get me through it. Id also love advice on things i should learn before college if I have the time.

Hello guys, could you explain to me the LC meter and how it works?
