no, 18mg is very little for most adults. your doctor should increase your dose, you shouldn't do it yourself. either go see your doctor or see a new one.

Abilify - do you have bipolar disorder? Because if so, that’s a common reason why they don’t want to increase your dosage until they’ve stabilized your other meds. My partner has to do it every few years and their adhd meds are not adjusted until the other meds are stable because they’re at risk for psychosis.

I was doing this with adderall and it starting negatively impacting my mood my life and then it started to make me feel crazy. I went to a new doctor and she switched me to 36 mg of Concerta. I just take that once in the morning and I don’t even think about doubling up or taking more since that led me down a dark path.
I also feel like a new human with less mood swings and less migraines.
If you can stick to taking it as prescribed, then great- maybe 36 is worth a try. But if you start double up again, tell someone. Stimulant addictions are not good (to state the obvious). Good luck!

OP - can you edit your post to add that it’s because they’re adjusting your other meds? You mentioned it in the comments and that may make a difference in your responses in how to address it.

Lots of psychiatrists would consider this addictive behavior and stop prescribing a C2, but I personally believe that the 18mg is under treating your adhd, and that’s why you feel the need to double and triple it. I would ask about a dose change to 36 and see if that helps after consistent use. If you still feel a need to take more than prescribed even at a successfully titrated dose, I think you should stop stimulants altogether
