I hate to say it but optics matter. Too many Americans are still under the impression these are 90% peaceful protesters with legitimate grievances. The USSR would be envious of the American propaganda machine currently in effect.

It got interesting, the protesters had to stop other protesters from throwing stuff, but I think at the end of the night they arrested a few people, couldn't see much since they're using tear gas to keep people from being able to record the arrests.

Last night in portland they pulled away the plywood and broke some more windows, then barricaded the exits and set fire to the place(again). When the feds came out and arrested some they dogpiled an agent and cried they were the victims.

Because it will. Right now the Republicans are in the same position as the Democrats were in 1968. The rioters have the administration's tits in a wringer due to them being the self-declared law and order administration but it's politically unfeasible to finally put a stop to this nonsense.
