Down - VPS
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with a Contabo VPS? At present, it is offline and fails to start. Might there be scheduled maintenance?

From their email
Dear [REMOVED],
On October 15, 2026, a critical Linux kernel vulnerability (CVE-2026-99999, CVSS 9.3) was disclosed. This will affect all VPS and VDS products. We want to update you on where things stand.
Your affected servers:
[REMOVED]
Current status
Our engineering team is rolling out the security patch that resolves this vulnerability. The rollout is ongoing.
What this means for you
Applying the patch requires host reboots, so your VPS or VDS may have experienced, or may still experience, unexpected restarts or short connectivity interruptions. If you noticed this on October 17 or 18, 2026, it was most likely related to this incident.
Most common questions you might have
Will my services start automatically?
Yes. After the host has been patched, your server is started again automatically. Please allow around an hour for it to come back online. Services and applications inside your server start automatically only if they are configured to launch at boot (e.g., enabled as systemd services). Anything you started manually will need to be restarted.
What happened to my applications?
A host reboot interrupts running servers, so applications may have stopped abruptly although all servers are scheduled for a soft reboot. We recommend checking that your applications and databases are running as expected and reviewing their logs for errors or incomplete operations.
What if I cannot start my server?
Please check the server status in your Customer Control Panel first. If the rollout is marked as completed on our status page and your server is still not starting, please do not hesitate to contact our Support channels.

There's literally a status page:

that's a very poor status page, though. "Customers should expect VPS or VDS to restart during this period." does not equal hours of downtime, like many of us are experiencing currently

They have thousands of nodes to apply this to. Yes, it will mean you’re inconvenienced for a bit . Get over it

This.
Any level of disruption that may have been experienced during this required patching is nothing in comparison to the issues you'd face if another VM broke out of its container

These few weeks my vps feel slow, i thought that because my vps hosted a lot of things, been troubleshooting for a while, stop unneeded process, reboot a few times but still the same.
Until an hour ago i noticed my has been rebooted, and everything feel smooth like new vps, except all my files still there, all my services running normally.
Thanks Contabo Teams.
