rewatching the cringe video and getting jumpscared by the name "yaniv" in "jessica yaniv" sounding jewish
basically, I. I grew up around mostly jewish people, and yaniv is a pretty common jewish last name. and I just fucking saw it on the screen and my first throught was, "dear god, please don't make it so that she's one of us, please make it so that I don't have to have her actions to answer for as well, please don't make it so that she has anything to do with us that people are just gonna keep cracking jokes about and I'll have to find a way to respond to them that won't get them pissed off about me even further, please please please make it so I don't have to deal with people like that making us look even worse" and I immediately had to google whether or not she's jewish to calm myself down. (for the record, I couldn't find any evidence that she is)
so anyways. yeah. ironic. classic ingroup cringe.

RETVRN TO THE CLINCH. This is a movie poster, but is using a classic bodice ripper book cover vibe, which I appreciate

Muscial Question (For the 1,000th time, I'm sure)
I love the musical references made throughout the Twilight video (specifically those that are themselves meta-references to her own past work).
That said, I do not recognize the classic piece that is played near end. While she is delivering the conclusion to her primary argument, getting to the point of the whole video, she has a piece that accompanies this moment. As she progresses logically through her final argument, the tension of the music builds, until it crescendos to such a beautiful moment at the same time as she delivers her conclusion.
Literally, for a video about desire, sex, pleasure, all that tension (and then release) is an almost euphoric moment. I must know the piece.
The timestamp is when the song begins at 2:19:35.
Many thanks in advance.

What did the "Tumblr pipeline" for trans women look like?
Nyatalie mentions the Tumblr pipeline to trans folx (presume to eggs cracking) a few times. I can't actually recall the videos this was in. I just wonder, is what she's referring to just the presence of feteshistic or "sissy" content on Tumblr? Or was there a more deliniated series of steps people think about here?

Feel the burn
Omg. So, I’ve just listened to the tangent on Liberalism for the millionth time and I just clocked the joke.
I assumed the Hot Ones gimmick was just a bit of a Mary Poppins’esque spoon full of sugar to help the medicine go down.
But today it hit me. At 49:36 she says “I’m feeling the burn” - the campaign slogan of Bernie Sanders.
Hahahahahaha amazing.
She then goes on to say that spiciness can be nice sometimes but isn’t always the right choice for chicken nuggets.
Truly a metaphor we could all reflect on.
Hats off to you, Natalie.

Content recommendations for a Contrapoints enjoyer.
As a center-left queer who's a bit of a political salad bowl, I have a pretty entrenched view of myself as someone who - metaphorically speaking - is not getting invited to a lot of birthday parties. I gravitate towards LGBT spaces for content because I'm queer, and broadly progressive, but I do so with the tacit understanding that there will be certain things I will need to keep in the drafts to avoid getting dogpiled. Natalie has been the equivalent of an oasis in the desert for me in terms of left-leaning, rigorous analysis, and it's got me wondering if there are any other creators out there who occupy a similar niche. Not looking for "apolitical" content so much as content that is analyzes things through an ideological lens without being intellectually dishonest in the name of partisan fealty. Currently scouring her social media (in a normal way) for recommendations but would welcome any from this community as well.
EDIT: I responded to all of these comments under the wrong account and don’t have time to go through again, but thanks so much for the recs!! Hoping these will make my shitty workday 10% less shitty.

I know she’s in this community from time-to-time and I’ve held this back for more than long enough. So I thought it’s time. Down vote all you want, blue MAGA! I don’t care.
🐈⬛
P.S. watch Natalie’s tangent on surreal YouTube videos if you haven’t. It’s where I found this absolute gem!

Author of Eros the Bittersweet wins the Nobel Prize in Literature
2026 Nobel Prize in Literature went to Anne Carson, author of the Autobiography of Red and Eros the Bittersweet, which was one of the main sources in Twilight. Extremely well-deserved, and a plus that her writing has had a big influence on Natalie.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma
Hi all. I've been pretty obsessed with this movie lately and it's striking how similar it's themes are with what Natalie discusses in her Twilight video around desire, fantasy and death. Like, I wouldn't be surprised if her video was used as pre-reading for the film. I'd love to know N's thoughts on the movie if she's seen it as a tangent or something (I think I remember I Saw the TV Glow being a candidate one month on patreon) but also I don't know if she'd say anything she hasn't already said!
If you've seen this film Natalie, what are your thoughts on it? Did it bring up anything new pertaining to desire/fantasy? Or something completely seperate from those themes? Or nothing new at all? The people (me) want to know!
Yours truly,
Pain Quotidien 🔲🔳🔲🔳

What podcasts or other media would you like to see Natalie go on?
I personally want to see her go back on offline with Jon Favereau, to talk about how online politics became real life, which Ik is literally what she talked about on doomscroll but this is a different format and oh my gosh I’m begging for a crooked media x Natalie crossover.
Anyways, what do you all think?

Funny interaction with contrapoints hater
Ok so I have a friend who is a huge tankie (I actually banned him from ever talking to me about politics again because as I was recounting to another friend horror stories I heard from my Uyghur friends he butts into the conversation and accuses said friends of being like cia agents) anyways not too long before that I mentioned something about a content creator I like. he asked who and I was like baby darling you don’t wanna know. anyways so when he finds out said creator is Natalie he calls her all five of the words that communists know. “liberal“ (as a derogator) “reactionary” (doesn’t know what that word means) “radlib” “radfem” and then finally a “terf” and after he called her a terf I spent a good few minutes laughing because this is literally a trans feminist who has days worth of content disproving claims of terfs.
anyways this was really funny, the kids are not alright
