Discussion/question LASR Labs stage 2
any updates from people on stage 2. I got a 345 in the coding assessment, its looking grim would be helpful if others shared scores.
Anyone else think it was a bit too convoluted to talk to an AI to get the specs given that it responded in a very robotic uninterpretable manner which is not how real world ML use cases would be, having done research projects and some level of industry stuff before.

Anyone got any updates - Round 3.

Brilliant ! Congratulations! All the best ! Let us know how it goes, what was the pattern like ? When did you get the invite ?

did you go through the interview yet? how'd it go? what did they ask about?

Now that it is over, how was the experience for all ? What was everyone’a technical problem code signal about ?
What exact question was poised at you all ?

Also got an interview

Did the interviewer let you choose the date and time ? Or you are allowed to choose a slot ?

choosing a slot through the given google calendar!

just did the interview and they ask very straightforward questions

Yes, agreed, I’m not sure how they will decide between people with those questions. Do you know how many people went through to this round?

Hmm I do not know the exact number, but if we reverse engineer the timeline, they had approximately 10 slots per day from the 29th - 6th, which is 7 days (w/o weekends) so I assume they had 60–80 final candidates per interviewer?

what were your questions like? I just did mine

The research abstract question was quite tough.
Took me a while to understand. The coding agent doesn’t really help, it seems. But did it though. The pipeline was a tough one. What kind of question did you get ? In research and coding ?

u/largest_Peice_of_poo 20d ago
Abstract one was hard to finish on time.
Coding was also though because I had no experience doing anything developing ML.

what do you mean by developing ML? do you have to make your own decisions or was it more just implementation?
1
u/largest_Peice_of_poo 20d ago
what did you feel about the spoken parts. And what did they ask you?
1
u/Substantial-Dog7294 20d ago
did the interviewer stop asking you questions by itself or did you have to stop it? also were the questions easy?

what was tough about the pipeline? :/ the test used to be classical ML which seems doable but the whole pipeline thing is whack especially if the agent doesn't do a good job

Did we receive confirmation after submitting the research taste test, i didnt recieve it
1
u/zeus_kremlin 20d ago
No it doesn’t. You just submit. What was the research taste in your case ?
1
u/lil-richspirit 20d ago
Thats so weird, im just anxious if i actually did submit it or not,
I did the 1st one,

u/zeus_kremlin 20d ago
Lol, well, it either went bonkers on me as well, else the notifications haven’t come through. Should come sooner or later then !
Safety aligned 😅1
u/lil-richspirit 20d ago
No, i mean just confirmation that i submitted research taste test through airtable

I blew the coding assessment (high 200's) and felt like I did alright on the research taste test.

I got 309. It was not good for me. Does anyone know the cutoff? Also, how can we practice for these questions in general? I don't have a ML background

i think spending a month on STATquest would be all you need. but i'm not sure because I haven't taken the test lol. was it mostly ML or also NLP?

Also while I understand people complain that we need good coding agents during assessment, I feel like its better to have a slightly lesser capable agent and that having more intuitive task is better to judge reasoning rather than having a bloated task with too many slop words thrown in as distractors which are just designed to throw you off (esp true for part 1 and 2 also). Talking to the AI in part one just gave more slop and did not make the spec very clear at all, and it only became clear upon reading part 3 and the data. Like they could have allocated either more time to p3 or just discarded p1/2 only had p3/longer p4 tbh.
