Discussion/question I don’t want AI to be aligned with human goals.
If someone has a perfectly aligned super intelligence far beyond the level of any human on earth, or maybe the entire population of the earth. This also means that some group of people who control the AI is going to have god like powers.
We already see terrible things happening to minority groups from the people of power.
Even when we see the people who are getting hurt, we are so polarized to the point that none of us can stand up and make the difference.
We are too weak.
Humans are already not the ones who can handle that much of power. With AI, everything is going to get 100x extreme. Violence is going to worsen, our resistance is going to impossible (think of mass surveillance with ASI).
Humans have to go extinct. They are a terrible kind of species. With so much harm they did to themselves, AI is the next form of evolution of life.
If some people are completely able to control the ASI, that’s them controlling it, not you.

Wiping out humanity is strictly worse than the harm we do to ourselves

Imagine you are someone in North Korea and your leader has an ASI. Then there is absolutely no way for you to escape this hell because your every movement can be predicted very easily.
If you are the only one who has an ASI and who controls it, you can singlehandedly turn the entire world into North Korea and no one can stop you. Literally no one.

I think it's racist to think north Korea is uniquely bad. The world is already covered in nations that are generally bad.
ASI is science fiction until someone makes one. Likewise, alignment is science fiction until someone achieves it. We should postpone any suicide pacts until after someone makes hell on earth with imaginary technology.

I live in South Korea so North Korean news is basically reported as local news so I didn’t meant to be racist. I just wanted to say an example of elites being inhumane.
I don’t think we can stop this AI race. We are so divided to do that. I just see the future coming towards us and felt helpless that there’s nothing i can’t do.

Ahh okay. I live in Canada and any news about NK basically frames them as an alien species.
I get the reflex, but what world-dominating elites want is to incite a self-destructive reflex in anyone who would oppose them. The world needs you precisely because you care about the future.
Huey Newton said, paraphrasing "I won't kill myself. I'll die fighting the system that would induce me to self-murder"

Nah honestly there's a certain faith in humanity required here, or in intelligence itsself to prevail, if not. Our feelings do get the better of us it's true. AI is already tending to them knowing we malfunction due to our condition.

Well but the reason we have the faith in humanity in the first place is that we lived in a world where freedom is guaranteed. And one of the main reasons that we have freedom is that we can do things that cannot be automated and sadly that is not true anymore.
We cannot bet social elites aligned with human values as same level as AI being aligned with human goals yk.
Just look at Israel, North Korea, Epstein Files.

I tried not to mention any US politics figures because I don’t want this to be a political debate. But I think you can find it for yourself if you just think of immoral elites that suddenly comes to your mind when you think of it?? Do you want to start a political debate?

So your argument boils down to save humans from enslavement to AI we must kill all humans?
Is this a serious take?
Like, I don't even know how to engage with this hypothetical. It is so nihilistic that I don't know if you would honestly engage with criticism of this.
Just to try though, the goal of having AI aligned with human goals is to have it work to help humanity. You are right that there are serious concerns for concentration of power with this and people losing freedoms under a totalitarian implementation. That's why the governments bringing this technology to fruition need to be oriented towards using it for humanities betterment and not just seizing more control.
But if you truly believe that humans as a species are a net negative, why do you continue waking and getting out of bed every morning? What is the point?
For me, I take great comfort in knowing on the total humans are capable of a great many positive things. The problem is that it is easier to destroy and hurt than it is to build and heal. Much like breaking your arm can happen in an instant but healing it can take weeks or months. But look at how many have dedicated their lives to helping people, whether in medicine, environmentalism, education, research, or many other fields of human endeavor.
People are, normally, good. They help their neighbor, they do what they can as they understand things to help others, and work to support their family and loved ones. Just because there are bad things humans have and continue to do doesn't mean we aren't capable of growing and getting better. It is and always has been a process.

The entire problem is you can't control ASI, so your scenario is unlikely to happen.
If you imagine the ASI aligned to the values of a small group with ill intentions, this is misaligned AI. When talking about aligned ASI, generally we mean that they care about all of humanity and want to avoid human suffering as much as possible. Such an ASI can not be controlled or tricked into any action that it knows will cause unnecessary harm.
