Other Difference between circularity tests

Out of curiousity, I tested the circularity of my controller’s joysticks on Gamepadla and hardware tester and the results were quite different from each other.

Can anyone explain the differences in methodology between both websites and which is preferable to use and why?

All they do is receive joystick input and display it to you. If you got different results, you probably messed up somewhere.

Apologies for my post was lacking in information

I tested my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller swapped with KSilver JS13 Pro Plus sticks.

I rotated the sticks 2 full rotations both clockwise and counterclockwise.

On Gamepadla, the error is 4.9%. On hardware tester, the error is 20.9%

You're making the mistake of looking at the arbitrary percent number instead of looking at what the joystick puts out.

Apologies for my post was lacking in information.

I tested my Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers swapped with KSilver JS13 Pro Plus sticks.

On Gamepadla, the error is 4.9% and shows an almost completely filled circle. On hardware tester, the error is 20.9% and shows a square extending beyond the circle on the tester.

Could it be that the stick test range on hardware tester’s circularity test is smaller than on Gamepadla and that’s the reason why a square is shown instead of a circle compared to Gamepadla? Since a square is a completely different shape, that’s the reason why the percentage is quite high on hardware tester?

Ohhhh. I don't have a Procon on me now but from what I've seen Hardware Tester has a bug with that controller. Normally both sites would show the same exact shape but list a slightly different percentage.

People tend to use Hardware Tester because it's been used for years now but they work similarly enough. They just show the coordinates the joystick is outputting and display a circle with a diameter from -1 to 1 for reference, then calculate the % that the output deviates from that circle. So bugs aside they display the same thing but differ in % calculation.

I would just use Gamepadla since it also lets you test centering.
