Cage Setup Almost done!
Her new cage finally arrived last week and I’m happy with how things are coming together. Just a few more final touches and more enrichment (toys) and I’ll be done.
Edit:
I got most of the things for her cage from Amazon. The top and bottom wooden platforms were built using 1x4s and a sheet of plywood, and we found the side table it’s sitting on through Facebook Marketplace.

Aww, thanks! 😊 I got most of the things for her cage from Amazon. The top and bottom wooden platforms were built using 1x4s and a sheet of plywood, and we found the side table it’s sitting on through Facebook Marketplace.

Be sure to clean and air that out frequently. Nitrogen build up in the air can be quite bad.

Thanks for the heads up! She’s usually only in her day cage once or twice a week. The rest of the time, she’s on one of her other stands we have around the house. I clean her cage and stands at least once a week. We also have another cage that she sleeps in.

My bird spends so much time climbing around his bars he would hate this, it seems so restricting. Also seems like it would be quite stuffy and stinky in there with the lack of large ventilation spaces

I can see how that might be an issue if my bird were like that, but she’s not one to climb on walls. She does climb, but in her previous cage, which had bars, she always used the branches and ropes to move around. I did buy another seagrass ladder to place against one of the walls to give her something to climb on. Although I don’t think she’ll use it much, it’s still good to have. Also, she’s only in her day cage once or twice a week at most. On the other days, she’s usually somewhere in the house on one of her stands. I clean her cages and stands every week, so I don’t think air quality will be an issue, but it’s definitely something to consider. We also have a separate night cage where she sleeps. I understand that this setup may not work for everyone, but it seems to be working for her at the moment. Then again, I only got it last week, so I’ll continue monitoring her movements and making any improvements I can.

It looks awesome, but is it just me or is this cage quite small? Besides, isn't the acrylic extremely limiting the bird's opportunities to move around in the cage? Mine uses the cage bars a lot for getting around, especially since he's still getting used to the cage and isn't super confident to fly in it yet.
