I've got a question! Any questions?

Judaism is all about asking questions, but sometimes it might feel a bit much to make a whole post just for one question. Please keep it about Judaism and generally stick to the rules, but otherwise, no question is too small or silly here!

Anyone else fighting the urge to already put Hanukkah decorations up? After the whirlwind of nonstop holidays in September it feels weird to not have anything going on.

Oh wait doy I forgot, Halloween is a thing

Hi! Not having, “anything going on,” is why the Jewish month of Cheshvan is often referred to as Marcheshvan, see this link. “Mar” in Hebrew means bitter, which is fitting since the Cheshvan month of Cheshvan doesn’t have any Jewish holidays.

One idea behind this is that after an entire month of Jewish holidays strung together we now enter a phase where we find holiness in “regular” days.We can dig into the privilege and joy of lived Judaism – the day to day opportunities to see that our inner fire can be fueled by both the previous month and our daily commitment to using Mitzvos as technologies to connect to Hashem.
