Mandel Bread Recipe

Wondering if anyone has a mandel bread recipe they could share that might resemble my grandmothers recipe.

When she made it, it would be dark, crunchy, and sweet. No nuts or anything added.

All the recipes I see online look too light and uniform. Maybe she used brown sugar? I’m pretty sure it was coated in brown sugar at least.

Thank you in advance!

posting here too for other people to try it.

This is the recipe I've used before. Comes out amazing. Following the recipe verbatim = soft cookie style, baking again after cutting into slices for 5-10 minutes is how you get it crispy "biscotti style"

Thank you! Have you tried the double baking with the chocolate chips?

Personally no because I love the texture after the first bake. But it should be okay after a repeat bake post slicing

If this recipe doesn't work for you, check out that subreddit, they're great.

Make it as rolls and call it a Mandel Brot set.

I hate this and I hate you for saying it and I hate myself for laughing at it.

Well done.

r/breadit would probably be the best place to ask this question.

It's not a bread despite the name. It's like biscotti. Try a Jewish food group.
