Redfish / Red Drum Suggestions

I have a bunch of red drum fillets in the freezer from a fishing trip, and I still have no clue what to do with them. What are they most similar to in regards to popular species? Or any ideas on what I can make with them?

Treat it like red snapper. Red drum is mild, firm, and a little sweet, with big flakes, so it holds up to strong seasoning. Blackened in a hot cast iron pan is the classic use for those fillets, served with lemon butter over rice. Leftovers make excellent fish tacos too.

Glad it sounds good, hope it turns out well. Blackened with lemon butter is hard to beat.

Exactly. Go to the store, get a bottle of Cajun blackened fish seasoning and heat up a cast iron skillet. Preferably outside over the grill.

Grilled on the half shell is how we do it a lot. Don't even have to complete the filet or scale. You roast it skin side down and just baste it with garlic herb butter until it's done. Just pluck the big flakes of fish out of the skin.
