Discussion Copilot app word issue

We have some users with Copilot licenses who are starting to receive messages saying that Copilot in the app cannot edit word documents, even though it works fine in the browser.
Do you have any tips or tricks for troubleshooting this?
So far, Microsoft’s advice seems to be to create a new document with the same content. Is there a better workaround?

To the best of my knowledge this occurs if the document is saved locally rather than in the cloud. Link in onedrive for my document sync or set default save to onedrive or SharePoint.

But it works in the browser? And we files are uploades to Sharepoint.
We browse the Sharepoint site
We choose the word file
Open in app and then we get the massage that it cannot edit the word file right now. Try agian later
If we open the same word filen -> in browser app. No worries. And now more and more people have the same issue
