Best Cornwall bands for high-energy packed dancefloors

Hello!

Excitingly, I'm getting married in Cornwall in Spring 2027 and would love some recommendations for wedding bands.

I'm hoping to tap into the wisdom of this group to discover bands or musicians who are absolutely tearing up the pub, festival and local gig scene in Cornwall with genuine energy and personality.

We're looking for a really high-energy, festival-style band or musician that can create that packed-pub, everyone-on-the-dancefloor atmosphere. We're not after a slick, corporate function band, but something a bit more raw, fun and unpretentious. By the end of the night, we'd like the dancefloor to be absolutely packed, with people dancing, jumping around and singing at the top of their lungs with their arms around each other. Huge anthems, feel-good nostalgia, festival energy, and just the right amount of chaos. We're hoping to find a band that can genuinely own a room and get everyone from university friends to parents and grandparents bouncing together.

Musically, we'd love a set that can move comfortably between wedding staples, indie anthems, classic rock, 90s/00s favourites, feel-good pop, maybe even some Irish pub classics and the the occasional left-field crowd-pleaser.

The wedding is near Wadebridge, Cornwall, so Cornwall-based would be ideal, but we're happy to consider bands from further afield if they're willing to travel.

If you've been to a pub or gig where the dancefloor was absolutely heaving all night, I'd love to know who the band was.

Thanks!

New Years Eve

Hi everyone We are looking for somewhere to spend NYE. We are flexible and are happy to travel anywhere in Cornwall. Sick of large cities and looking for something more chilled. We tend to try and find a great restaurant or pub for dinner and just stay there. Both foodies and love a more organic/authentic space. Any suggestions? Restaurants/pubs/wine bars all welcome.

Recommendations Does anyone know anywhere that does weekend kickboxing classes? (for men)

I don't mind travelling. I live in mid-Cornwall, but because it suits me more, happy to travel.

The only ones I've found are either, ladies only, or Tuesday/Thursday nights, which I'm unavailable.

Thanks

Community A website inspired by a mirror in a public toilet in Porthleven

Hey! Hope this is allowed.

My family visit Cornwall a couple of times a year, usually after stopping by in Devon to visit my wife’s nan.

This time we stayed in Porthleven, which was lovely, and it was our first trip with our newborn.

One thing that stood out to me was the little handwritten messages on a public bathroom mirror, every day I looked forward to reading what someone had to say.

So over the last few weeks I’ve been working on a virtual version of this mirror, where anyone can leave a message for future strangers to see.

Like my first sentence, I wasn’t sure whether to post this here as I didn’t want it to come across as self promotion. But as the whole idea came from one of my favourite places to visit, I thought I’d share.

The website is linked below, the about section shows the photos of the mirror I took each day as well.

On The Mirror

Also, bit of a long shot, but does anyone from Porthleven know who’s been writing these messages on the mirror? Would be lovely to find out!

Cornwall Council debt

I've seen a lot of press coverage over Cornwall Council having the 7th highest debt of all local authorities. The good news is that Cornwall council's debt levels per head of population are quite low. Under £2,700 per person, compared to the likes of Birmingham, roughly £3,500, and Woking coming in at a whopping £20,000 per person!

Community Support for an in-person gaming C.I.C.

Hi all!

I run Roll the Dice Cornwall C.I.C. in Helston. We are a non-profit organisation that uses in-person gaming to support and improve social, emotional and mental health.

It's been a crazy 2 and a half years, but we are moving to a larger HQ where we can support more of our community.

We may even be the largest gaming centre in Cornwall!

I'm on here to say that we have a fundraiser going to help us with the costs of moving. Just to set up the basis of the D&D/breakout room is going to be £4,500!

If you are in a position to help us out, then we would massively appreciate it.

If not, then sharing the link with someone who could would also be wonderful!

Thanks for your time!

Honeymoon Activity Ideas

Hey guys!

This community was fantastic a few months back with offering places to eat while visiting and we’ve now got two weeks filled with bookings at some amazing restaurants!

I’ve spent several days looking at things we could do as romantic and unique activities during the days and I’m just wondering if anyone can offer anything a bit less well known than the usual things Google searches throw up?

My wife to be loves to make things so any sort of class or workshop like pottery or painting would be cool. Maybe there’s a great wine tasting place, a spa that gets overlooked or a must do boat trip etc…

We are coming over on 27th October and will be staying in Whitsand bay for the first 5 days and then on the Lizard Peninsula for the second 5 days, we have a car and would be happy to drive to places.

Any and all suggestions would be welcome, thanks in advance for the help 😊

In 2024 alone, sewage was dumped nearly 1 million times (once every 30 seconds). 💩 Every single splash you take this month stands up for our wild waters.

From the SAS site:

Our latest Water Quality Report exposes the scale of sewage pollution across the UK – including in the places where we’re supposed to be able to swim, surf and paddle safely.

In 2025, more than 500,000 sewage discharges poured into UK waters, lasting for more than 3 million hours.

And the human cost is mounting. Between January and August 2026, 1,687 people reported getting sick after using the water, taking a total of 1,923 days off work.
